Title: SHUN'S SPECIAL CLINIC
...
As we trotted through the village, I asked Hisashi tons of questions. "So, uh, that was your daughter right?"
He sighed and nodded. "Yes she is."
I didn't want to be meddlesome but seeing the man like this, something in me wanted to be counselor of sorts.
"Tell me about it." I said.
"Well, it all began some years ago..." Hisashi began.
It turned out that little Tomoe had come in contact with some Clan mercenary when she was little and was fascinated by them. Ever since then, she had made her intentions clear on wanting to be like them, spewing different elements from her mouth.
As someone who had seen the world for what it was, Hisashi vehemently refused. Tomoe was all he had in this world. She was the only thing to remember his wife by.
His wife was also unfortunate to have died at the hands of some fighting clans when she went out of the village for a task. Her body was retrieved by some village guards days later.
With all these things having happened, how could he let his only child leave and travel these dangerous lands?
I listened attentively to his story and found that it was quite clichéd when you think about it. Not everyone who has chakra ends up strong.
That's what differentiates clan members and ordinary civilians. At least that's what's the common knowledge.
"Sigh. I guess she's in her rebellious stage then. You see, while your method is good, it's still isn't the Optimal solution. Well, it's your family issue so you do you." I said, not wanting to saying something drastic.
Hisashi looked at me weirdly before chuckling. "You brat. For a moment there I thought you were an old man."
I smiled and kept quiet while following beside him. Soon, Hisashi brought us to the house he'd mentioned the day before. As we drew close to the property, I immediately noticed that there were few people around.
"This is it." Hisashi said.
"It's wrecked."
"As I said, this is it."
"Er...but it's wrecked."
"Meh, I told you there aren't visitors around these parts, the village folks considered demolishing it once, now it's for you."
I was tongue tied. This small building was way worse than I could ever have imagined. I wouldn't have been terribly shocked if a gust of wind blew it like a poorly-constructed straw-stick house.
"Since nobody knows who owns the building, it just sat here for years." Hisashi added. "The only reason it wasn't knocked down is well..." He coughed. "Anyhow, it's completely free."
"For some reason, the words 'there's no such thing as a free lunch' just came to mind." I replied.
"Just uh, be careful, okay?" Hisashi left with those mysterious words, making his way back to his pub.
"Be careful, huh?"
Fine, I can take a look inside, and if things seem really bad, that's that.
Much to my surprise the only thing that made a weird noise when I entered was the door itself.
Sure, this place is dusty, but the construction's pretty solid. And if something's busted, I can always fix it. It's not like I'll be here for more than a month.
"Well, Eien-chan, what do you say we make this out new home for now?"
[I'm always with Master. Master is home.] Eien said much to my delight.
"Hahahaha. What a good girl. This means we have some cleaning to do." Opening my mouth and breathing out slowly, a gentle gust of wind appeared and all the residual dust were quickly cleansed.
With another flex of his chakra, water drops condensed and in next to no time, the enter house was washed clean. Another breath of air dried the water up.
It took me around 3 minutes to finish the entire thing. Sure, the place wasn't sparkling, but it was definitely say better than it had been when I got here.
"This place is old, but it's a legit house." I admitted. Despite my standards, seeing such a house built by humans was something admirable.
It didn't take me long to pick a room as my official laboratory. I sprawled on the floor, my arms and legs outstretched.
That was when I first noticed a figure stuck to the ceiling. 'Damn, I'm getting sloppy.'
[She had been here for quite some time now, Master. You shouldn't be sealing off you abilities, Master,] Eien said.
"Don't mind it, Eien, this is what it means to be human." Shun said to Eien and then smiled at the figure on the roof.
"Um...so I've been watching you for a while now," she said, meeting with my eyes. "I have a question. You have chakra right?"
"Have you ever heard the saying, 'Curiosity killed the cat'? Tomoe-chan," I asked.
"No, that saying doesn't exist," she answered.
"Well, Tomoe-chan, it exists and you're going to fall under the category of the cat." I said as my tone turned cold.
Tomoe seemed like she didn't even notice my change and asked. "You haven't answered yet, you do have chakra, right?"
"Why ask when you already know? Unfortunately, you discovered my secret and I have to kill you now." I said and unleashed a little of my killing intent on her.
"Wha-?" She opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted as I appeared in front of her in the ceiling and clamped her throat.
"And you're dead." I said while looking her dead in the eye. "Just like that, your life is over, your father loses his only remaining relative. What do you think will happen to him when that happens." I asked In a causal tone.
Seeing as she was almost choking, I released her and flashed back to the ground with her in hand, if I didn't do that, she'd probably fall head first and break a couple bones.
"Cough! Cough! You...how?" She asked. She'd seen a lot of things, but that speed was probably beyond her.
"I told you, curiosity actually killed the cat. And a moment ago, we just verified it. What do you think?" I asked back.
Creating a wooden chair from the floorboards, I sat down and asked. "Why do you want to travel outside that much?"
She looked at me and said. "I don't want to trapped in this small place when there's so much more to see and experience outside."
Her eyes showed her unwavering commitment to her desire. She wanted to see more than what she currently seeing.
"That's a good dream-"
"It's not a dream!" She screamed, interrupting me. "It's not a dream. I know it's possible. I know I can do it."
We locked eyes for a good while before I smiled and said. "Actions have consequences, little girl. Not everything is peaches and roses as you see it."
"You can travel outside, you should be strong, right? Can't you take me with you?" She asked
"No. No I won't." I said back immediately.
"Why?"
"Because, your live doesn't always belong to you." Standing up from the chair, I started using my chakra to build some basic necessities I will be needing to run a clinic.
"Do you know what stupidity and death have in common?" I asked not expecting an answer from her. "When you're dead, you don't know that you're dead. The pain is felt by others, that's what happens when you're stupid too."
There was a moment of silence with the only thing making noise being Shun who was creating stuffs out of thin air.
"I'm not stupid and I'm not going to die outside if you help me." Tomoe argued back.
"True, you're not stupid. True, you won't die if you're with me. But the question is, why should I help you? Why should I teach you? Why should I protect you? Ask yourself these questions and then think. Nothing. You have nothing that I desire, but guess what, you're priceless to your father, he'd probably die for you but what do you do?..." I said calmly and then turned back at her.
"When I was younger, I traveled to see the world, I had my children go out to experience the world too, but I didn't let them out carelessly despite how peaceful the world was at that time, but looking at you now, I feel nothing but pity for your father."
"How can you have children when you're this young?" she deadpanned at me but I choose to be the bigger man and ignore her.
"It's not your fault, far from it. It's one of man's instinct to discover new things, that's what helps in developing their mentality but then again, ones entire world can be found in a room, a book, a person. What do you think your father will say if I threatened to destroy this village and spare you or kill you and spare this village?"
"He'd choose you a thousand times over, so I will advise you to go back to your father, talk with him, spend some time with him, Genuinely. Do that for a month and then come back to me after that."
I finished and then waved my hands sending her directly to the entrance of the pub.
"What a troublesome woman."
I gave a look at the newly reformed clinic and nodded in satisfaction. It wasn't at all modern as everything was made from wood, stones and metal. No glasses.
Guess we're open for business. Stepping outside the building, I then cleared the area surrounding the building and made it more presentable before carving a wooden plaque and hanging it in the door.
SHUN'S SPECIAL CLINIC
...
After I opened the store, I decided to create some miscellaneous pills for miscellaneous stuffs like, fatigue remover, energy pills, pain pills, and other stuff that can help civilian life be better.
All these had been produced by the girls in Rōran in form of potions but pills will always be the best for me no matter what the girls say.
Things got pretty busy for me as the days went by, the various pills I lined up in the shelves were very welcomed in the village.
Farmers, builders, constructors and even women were all attracted to the various merchandise I had to sell. I had to create some beauty pills to make that possible.
Things were all well and good but I had a little problem.
I had no other hands to help me in the store. Although I was all powerful, I still need to rest even if you may thing it's unnecessary
Tomoe and her father, Hisashi had become a little bit closer since our little talk and i can now see a smile on her lips every now and then when she comes to buy some pills to maintain her beauty and some energy pills for her father.
Hisashi had also come around one time and asked if anything untoward happened to me to which I replied negatively.
He was first surprised before he was relieved and then asked. "Shun-san, can I ask if you need a helping hand around here?"
"Of course I do. Do you think I alone can handle all these?" I asked back with an annoyed look.
I didn't come out here to work in the first place, I only intended to see how these People were living despite the many ears on the outside, how can someone as last as I be happy working in some clinic full-time?
"That's good, I wanted to ask this of you, can you allow my daughter to work under you?" He asked.
"Hmm? Isn't she helping out at your pub? Why would you ask her to come over here?"
"Yeah, she is, and guess what? We're both now talking well, I don't know what happened but she's now as she was in her childhood." He said with a gentle smile. And surprisingly, he looked younger.
I could tell he must have felt heartbroken with how she was treating him, but as someone who has only her left, he couldn't treat her as just any woman.
"That's good then, but why are you asking me to hire her?"
"I just feel it's going to be a good change of pace. Don't get me wrong brat, I like the new her but I still feel she should be more exposed to people around her age. Also, you're the only one she doesn't show that look of disgust when walking about." Hisashi explained.
"Her...age?" My eye twitched involuntarily at the sound of that. Why the hell was I being assumed to be a young man. I'm as old as chakra itself for crying out loud.
Despite that, I couldn't let my smile fall off my face. Also, although she was changing for the better, she was still indifferent to others around her which wasn't all that good.
"Well, I can hire her. It's going to help her know how to socialize more... No harm in that. Have her come by by the morrow." I told the man.
"Mm... That means a lot, Shun. Thank you." Hisashi bowed slightly.
"No need for that. Since you've helped me, I am merely paying you back. No need for the formalities."
"Mm. I'll let her know then. I'm sure she'll be happy to here that." He said and left the shop.
"Mm..."
I think leaving my body in its peak form is a bad thing after all, people will probably underestimate me a lot due to this.
Guess I'll be changing that in me next destination.
