49 Looking Forward

Kumogakure.

Raikage Office.

"How is this...?"

Third Raikage who had experienced so much in whole life, had seen all kind of hell on battlefield, fell a chill as his hair stood up at the sight before him.

The dark gap on the chest with the heart missing yet everyone still alive and kicking, this had refreshed his cognition.

"Despite our hearts missing, we can all feel them Raikage-Sama and there has been no feeling of discomfort as well!"

"Yes, it's just like any other day!"

Seeing Raikage shocked to this point, Kumo grey demon took the initiative to explain how they were feeling, Blue B next to him agreeing with his words.

There explanation brought Raikage back to his senses as he leaned back on his chair, rubbing his chin with a deep look in his eyes.

"Do you have any guess who did this?"

Finally after a long silence, Raikage asked the most important question looking at the people standing before him.

"A total of six Kiri Shinobi attacked us suddenly, the strongest among them was Mitsuaki, a famed Kiri Shinobi but he was found dead!"

"The chances of other kiri shinobi doing this are slim as well, from the chakra I sensed they all were special jonin at most!"

"So you think someone from Konoha did this?"

Told Two Tails Jinchuriki her guess, Raikage inquiring back again.

"Whether it was Kagami Uchiha, Akimichi Torifu or the rest, I'm pretty sure they were incapacitated by the poison just like us"

"But unlike us there bodies weren't found on the spot, if Konoha had lost two famed shinobi the whole world would have been aware by now!"

"So I think somehow they managed to survive but what the most confusing part is, that if they did wipe out kiri squad, why were we left alive by them?"

"And how did they take our hearts away and why wasn't mine taken, also the whole world is aware that whether it's kagami or torifu they don't possess such ability"

"Even if Konoha had reinforcements, the question why were we spared and how were our hearts taken still stays!"

Said the Jinchuriki her complete analysis of the situation, though just that one part of being spared and hearts taken away, she unable to come with a convincing reason.

"I see, so for the time being we won't be able to find anything"

"But I'll still send out a few squads to gather information of a similar case like yours around the world"

"Also until any progress on this heart issue is made, except for Nigito, none of you are allowed to perform shinobi duties, stay at the hospital!"

"Yes! Raikage-Sama"

Gave Raikage his final verdict, everyone immediately acting on his orders.

Konoha.

Hokage Office.

"Do you have any guess who could have helped you?"

In the office, Kagami and Torifu after handing in the mission content gave a detailed report on what happened, Sarutobi after listening everything questioning back.

At the side stood Danzo as well, his squad had went on the mission and as there instructor, he had very right to know what happened.

"We thought a lot but nothing sensible popped in our mind, to even start figuring it out we need a clue to begin with but we don't even have that!"

"And as you can guess, all told till now are mere speculations, we have nothing as a proof!"

Respond Kagami to Sarutobi with a helpless smile on his face, although they were able to complete the mission and return safely, being in the dark of what had happened was truly annoying.

"Hmm...what do you think Danzo?"

After hearing his explanation, Sarutobi rubbing his goatee passed the ball to Danzo, the focus of everyone shifting on him.

"All I would say is that this kinda reminds me of what happened in the first mission, to this day I'm still surprised at how those two women died at the same time which miraculously saved Sayuri and Shinku"

"Just like that, this is another miracle whose explanation I can't come up with!"

Said Danzo with a stern face, inwardly equally curious about these happening, these timely coincidences he had encountered for the first time in his life.

The words of Danzo reminded Kagami and Torifu of Sayuri and Shinku telling them the same, though this aside from bringing more surprise not helpful in finding any clue.

Currently unable to come up with anything, Sarutobi disbanded the meeting as further thinking would only waste time.

Kawano Residence.

Naoki who returned quickly took a shower to freshen up and since it was already time for dinner, he joined his family for a warm meal, a little smile on his face eating with the three people sitting around.

After dinner, Naoki didn't waste time and quickly went to bed, the journey back home tiring and he needed to be hundred percent as well for tomorrow.

Because tomorrow it was time for the main experiment to clear his doubts to be conducted.
