Once all people received Souls and incredible powers. Some were lucky enough to obtain the Soul of an ancient and powerful creature, but fate was not favorable to all. The world began to change, and creatures evolved. But, it was not the beginning of a new era. It was the end. A couple of months later, a dark mist appeared and destroyed the world. It was a dictate of destiny from which no one could escape. Wain Norheim was the world's best assassin and the only one who didn't get a soul. However, he was destined to gain the power to confront fate. Escaping through a portal into another world, he unknowingly began the apocalypse. Even the world failed to expel him.
Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.
Space shattered into tiny shards as the path into the vastness of darkness was clear.
"Nice, if I'm not mistaken the next appropriate gate is to the east, it will take us about ten minutes to get to it." Marlis said with a serious look before her feet were covered in green flames.
She glanced at Wain and said, "Run as fast as you can. Even though I said it would only take us ten minutes, we'll have to walk hundreds of miles in that time."
"Huh, don't worry. You watched my last fight, right? So, you should know that I'm pretty fast." Wain grinned as his aura intensified and a golden glint appeared in his eyes.
"Well, I think you'll be surprised that you're not the only one with these abilities." Marlis said in a careless manner, shrugged, and stepped forward.
Whooooooooosh.
At the same time, her silhouette blurred as she turned into a flash of green flame that almost instantly crossed meters of darkness.
