Once all people received Souls and incredible powers. Some were lucky enough to obtain the Soul of an ancient and powerful creature, but fate was not favorable to all. The world began to change, and creatures evolved. But, it was not the beginning of a new era. It was the end. A couple of months later, a dark mist appeared and destroyed the world. It was a dictate of destiny from which no one could escape. Wain Norheim was the world's best assassin and the only one who didn't get a soul. However, he was destined to gain the power to confront fate. Escaping through a portal into another world, he unknowingly began the apocalypse. Even the world failed to expel him.
When the golem realized that Wain was gradually winning, the monster decided to use his trump card. Dozens of books around the golem rose and opened, then swirled around the golem, like a whirlwind.
Wain didn't understand what was happening, but he was ready to block any attack.
The vortex stopped after a few seconds, and all the golem's wounds were repaired. Wain had to kill the golem in one series of attacks. Otherwise, the monster would regenerate quickly. The number of books was reduced by about ten percent.
Wain wanted to attack again, but suddenly pages began to fly out of the books. They came down on Wain like hundreds of blades.
"What the?!" Wain exclaimed and turned into a blue flash.
He could block and reflect many beams flying toward him, but not hundreds of deadly pages. Even if he swung his sword as fast as he could, at best, he could reflect only a third of the pages.
