Chapter 5- X

"You didn't come back for two years, where were you?"

Nameless looks up at 12 year old Aspen while she braids her hair, blowing the petals off a dandelion.

"I was busy, sweetheart."

"But you never came...I was waiting."

"I'm here now."

Nameless smiles at Aspen, as she places bright and colorful flowers in the braid.

"Are you a bad spirit?"

Aspen asks after a long pause.

"Why?"

"I overheard Acheron talking to Draven..."

Nameless frowns, but then nods.

"Yes. I'm a bad spirit or demon."

"But why be bad, when you could be good?"

"It's just the way I am."

Aspen strokes Nameless's head, and she smiles.

"I still don't understand why people don't like you, Nameless. You're nice."

"Not in the slightest."

"But you are to me?"

"I wouldn't consider this nice."

Aspen shrugs, walking over to two trees and making a small hammock with her vines.

She lays down on it, slightly swinging back and forth as she continues to watch Nameless.

"Did you ever have actual eyes? Like pupils and irises?"

"Most of the time, yes. But near the end of my life, no."

"Why not?"

"Because the demon in me was getting far too strong, causing me to lose my sight...and my pupils and irises. I don't know why...and I don't know how I can still see. I guess it's just a mystery."

"Your blind?"

"Partially in my right eye, most of it got better."

"What color were your eyes? I can imagine you with light blue or light grey eyes."

"Well it was just that, dear. And sometimes red when my demon took over. But even when I was born, I had problems with my right eye, making me mostly blind in that eye. That's what diluted the blue to a grey. But the other eye was perfectly fine."

"If you aren't a half blood, then how did you have a demon? Were you possessed?"

"No. I was half demon, and the demon part of me is what made me somewhat like a half blood."

Aspen nods, then seems to think about something before she blurts the question out.

"Can I see your demon?"

Nameless looks extremely confused, but then sighs.

"I cannot. She isn't a part of me anymore."

"No?"

"No."

Aspen nods, then releases a small yawn.

She blinks slowly a couple of times, resting her head on her arm.

"I'm tired."

"I bet you are. Go, go to sleep."

Aspen seems to want to say something, but keeps her mouth shut.

"What are you afraid to tell me, child?"

"Someone usually sings to me to help me fall asleep...I have trouble doing so."

Nameless makes a face.

"I get that your hinting at me singing to you. I guess I could, but prepare for your ears to be permanently damaged because my voice is terrible."

Aspen let's out a small laugh, taking Nameless's hand.

Nameless tenses, looking down at the small girl's hand.

"I'm sorry." Aspen removes her hand. "I forgot you do not like physical contact."

"It's fine."

Nameless sits down in the grass, gently rocking the hammock back and forth while singing to the small girl.

She watches as Aspen drifts off to sleep, pushing the girl's hair out of her face.

She stands up, fading away slowly.

"Goodbye, Aspen."

Aspen smiles while her eyes are still shut.

"Goodbye, Symphony."

**************

Hmm...just what I needed.

"My favorite vengeance spirit from the underworld, what's up?"

I turn my head around, and Valor shakes his head.

"Nothing much...any reason you're at your own grave with a shovel? Planning to find some centuries old bones?"

"Bitch, no. I'm getting my body back. Considering I wasn't mortal, my body will be perfectly fine. It hasn't aged over the last years."

Valor rolls his eyes, looking down at the gravestone then Nameless with a mocking grin.

"I would love to help my favorite Symphony dig up her grave."

I tense.

"What did you just call me?" I seethe, and Valor scratches his head.

"Silly Nameless, I called you Symphony. Your lovely real name."

"If you're trying to taunt me, Valor, you better stop now. Once I'm personified again, I will rip you to shreds with my teeth. How does that sound?"

"Wonderful! You can rip the air to shreds," Valor sticks a hand through his stomach, then his head, blowing away part of his fingers. "I'm a spirit, dipshit. You can't."

"Maybe we'll personify you as well...wouldn't that be fun?"

"Actually...yes it would."

I smirk.

"Great. I have just the plan. Just help me get my body back then I'll get you yours."

************

After twenty minutes, me and Valor get to the coffin.

My coffin.

I pull it out with ease, and Valor looks at me like I'm crazy.

"What?"

"You just lifted that so easily. What's going on?!"

"Everyday I get closer to him, and that day, the stronger I get."

Valor's face fills with realization, and he nods with a sly smirk.

"I get it...now what do you say we get a personified Nameless?"

"Awesome."

We pry open the coffin, seeing me laying there.

It is really weird to look right at your own dead body.

Like, really, really, weird.

I see myself, with the same silvery hair, but even paler skin.

"Okay. So I'm going to separate myself from this body, and go back into my own. Your job is to make sure Celia stays asleep."

"Got it."

I separate myself from Celia, watching as her body pales significantly and slumps against Valor.

I'm just as transparent as Valor, a soul and a vaporized body.

Funny.

I lay down on top of my body, feeling as we merge back together.

I blink my eyes open, just as thunder booms and lightning strikes as the rain pours down from the sky.

I look around, my eyes landing on Valor.

"Hey, hey, hey!"

"Wassup! We have Nameless back!"

"That's right."

I stand up, stretching and cracking my bones.

"I'm back for good as well."

I look down at Celia's body with a snicker.

"Hilarious. Hello, world. Nameless and her demon named Nameless are back from the dead..."

**************

"It feels strange."

I look around, then look back at Valor and his spirit self.

"Actually being a human? I bet."

Valor floats around, his eyes landing on one grave.

"Look! We were buried in the same graveyard, four graves apart! Except I was a little younger than you."

I trudge over to him, looking down at the gravestone.

Here Lies: Valor Wood

1897-1910

A Loving Son, and Brother

May He Rest In Peace

"Funny."

"What's funny?"

"They forgot to put something on my grave!"

"What?"

"They said a loving son and brother, but what about demon? I was literally a demon. I'm going to write it instead."

He produces a permanent marker out of nowhere, writing neatly on the gravestone.

"There. Now it fits me better."

Valor rolls his eyes, and starts digging, soon reaching his coffin and pulling it out.

"I'm sure in hell and in the underworld they'll love a Valor that's meat and bones."

He snorts, opening it up and staring at his body.

"Such an ugly boy...L-O-L! I'm so incredibly hot now."

"You're a fucking ghost now. What part of that equals hot to you?!"

"The part where I look like a Greek god. I'm hot as fuck. Don't be jealous because you weren't blessed with pupils and irises like I was."

"Shut the fuck up. I do have pupils and irises now but I choose not to show them because I look more badass without them."

"Creepier too, I mean, every time you look at me makes me want to pee myself. You're fucking scary."

"Thank you. I'm supposed to be. It wouldn't fit my aesthetic if I wasn't all creepy."

"I'm going to look like a thirteen year old boy if I go into this body. At least I know black magic."

He shrugs, laying down on his old body and merging with it.

Valor immediately stands up, looking up at me.

"Ha! I'm taller than you now."

"Not for long, she-devil."

He zaps himself with some sort of grey orb, and he just...what the fuck...grows?!

"What's up? It's your favorite tall friend. You're quite fucking short. Now, what're we doing with her?"

He points behind me at Celia.

I grab her by the collar of her shirt, smirking.

"We get rid of her."

"I have an idea."

**************

After banishing Celia to the depths of the underworld, me and Valor are thinking of our plan of action.

Because the day is coming closer, as is him.

I know it's only a matter of time before Celia wakes up, and by what I did to her?

She'll be angry.

She'll want to kill me.

Which is exactly what I want.

Funny.

After a few minutes of silence, I speak up.

"I forgot we were alive in the 1800's. Damn we're old."

"Tell me about it, Symphony."

I tense, staring blankly at him.

"What was that?"

A small and tight grin lines my face, and I stalk towards him.

"What do you mean? I just called you—"

"Symphony. I know. And you know what happens when people call me Symphony? The name I hate the most?"

"Let me guess, you over dramatic warthog. You go all demon mode on me then try and slaughter me."

"Exactly that."

My eyes start to flicker between red and white, stopping at a pure blood red as my hair turns vermillion, my skin turns charcoal, dark black wings sprout from my back, as well as black horns.

I release wicked laughter, and Valor just kinda stares at me.

"Did you miss me?"

"Original Nameless, hello. Long time no see."

"I haven't been alive in years! Now I can finally take control again!"

I grab Valor by the chin, raising his head to look at me.

"I remember you."

"Yes. Valor Wood?"

She smiles with razor sharp teeth that have blood dripping down them.

"Yes, my favorite plaything while I'm visiting the underworld."

"I'd rather us not mention that, hun. And can you let go on my cheeks. You're dragon nails are kinda digging into my skin. I just got back from the grave."

Nameless squeezes harder, then drops him on the floor.

"Ugh. Rude."

"I'm leaving."

"What? No! You can't—"

"Too late. Bye bye! Time to give our friends a little visit..."

Nameless smirks, and a red and black ball of sparking lightning forms in her hand.

"What better way to greet them then with some pain involved?"

*************

(CELIA'S POV)

My head starts pounding, and I wake up in a dark room.

No light.

No sound.

No nothing.

Just me.

The last thing I remember is a man and a woman.

Was her name...what was her name...name...Nameless?

Oh, I remember now.

I want to rip her apart one limb at a time...I want to watch her suffer. Watch her die.

This can't be me talking, can it?

I've never thought such violent things before...

Because you haven't...that's me talking, sweet cheeks.

My eyes widen.

Who the hell are you?

Your inner demon. Now that Nameless is gone, I can arise. Your real inner demon.

Nameless wasn't?

She was, but I'm your second one.

I have a second demon?

Yes...it's me.

No, no, no, no.

I thought they were gone for good!

We'll never be fully gone...you can't get rid of me...

Who are you?! Please make it stop! Please leave!

Only since you asked nicely. But don't worry...I'm coming right back in here after. Unlike Nameless, I love people to see me.

I feel winded when the spirit leaves me, And a yellow mist forms in front of me.

I back away quickly, as the thing starts to release yellow bolts of lightning.

Female snickering fills my ears, and I am pressed flush against the wall out of fear as the silhouette of a woman appears in it, then I see a heeled foot step out, then another. Then—oh my god.

Standing in front of me, clad in all gold clothing, and with pure yellow eyes, is a woman with golden hair, and lightly tanned skin.

I could hardly say she looks evil, besides the sinful look on her face.

"Hello, sweet cheeks. The name's X."

Just X?! That reminds me a lot of Nameless...

"Who are you?!"

"Your other inner demon, or should I say, Nameless's older sister."

Tick.

Tock.

Tick.

Tock.

A small smile lines my mouth as I watch the clock.

A countdown for the time it'll all end.

Or should I say, it'll all end for Nameless?

The glowing orb on the middle of my table shows me what she's doing, so I know when to strike.

Tick.

Tock.

Tick.

The clock strikes twelve.

One more day, Nameless.

I'm sure you'll be so happy to see me.

I tap my scepter on the floor, the hexagonal crystal on the top.
