Chapter 120: Seo Yeon

Finally , after almost staying locked up in the gibang for almost 3 months, the man I had been waiting to see finally came to the gibing at the right time. He was an elderly married gentleman who came to the gibang along with his younger brother. Roomer has it that they both held their noble women hostages for ransom money before marrying them and that's how they both became wealthy; and ran one of the biggest mines that were connected with a high level eunuch in the palace. They came to the gibang as 'my husband' was drinking with his new bitch and the other kisengs as usual. He had kept me locked up in my room so no-one apart from him could see and touch me. But when I hear that they had finally arrived I dreamed myself up before tearing apart the wooden boards Seon-Ho had the guards put up with my bare hands, just like when his father threw me into the shed the night Seon-Ho was punished for some bad interaction he had with the Prince Bang-Won. I didn't care of my hands were bleeding, or how much pain I was in; I had to see them no matter what. I walked past Seon-Ho and his women, ignoring the dark look on his face as he grabbed onto my wrist to stop me. He took one look at my bleeding hands and the look just got a lot darker; I just pleaded with him in my eyes before pushing his hands way as I was called to one of the main rooms which I presumed where the men were.

I took one quick look at them before keeping my eyes on the ground; I heard them compliment me to the gibang owner as they requested that I danced for them first, they didn't even ask me for my name. My only request that we take the dance outside in a more after they had their complimentary drinks and snacks. They were one of the richest people have walked through these doors and even though they had most of the kisengs around him I did everything I could to attract their attention, trying to ignore Seon-Ho's hardened looks stabbing me from the other room. I had to get this over with as soon as possible before he let his anger get this best off him and he ruined this for me. But before I could say anything we heard a commotion coming from outside. We then heard shouting and things being thrown around and broken before we saw an elderly woman rushing into the gibang calling out for one of the men. She had bruises on her hands and face and she was limping with 2 small girls holding onto her hands. They all looked malnourished and frail as they came up to the older man who I presumed was their father and husband. The mere sight of them made my blood boil as they pleaded to the men who were fully dressed in expensive noble clothes and all the jewellery to match. The other girls had the audacity to laugh at them while I had noticed that Seon-Ho had left for some unknown reason. But before I could say anything once again that stupid Da-In interjected herself as soon as she noticed my interest in the situation and stating going on a rant about the difference between old wives and young concubines and so on. I was getting angry until I realised that I could take advantage of the situation instead. I made my intentions clear as I reached out to fill their glasses but she used me away onto the floor as she tried to copy every action I tried to preform.

The wife and girls were on their knees at this point; begging them not to spend anymore money on kisengs and bring them home as there was apparently no more space of resources to feed everyone. At this point Da-In had wondered off somewhere and the men had requested 'company' in the private rooms...with no candles for some reason, right in front of these children! I had barely got to do anything and I was already fed up. The younger brother selected his kiseng and went to one of the private rooms whilst the older one pointed at me. I told him I would follow him shortly whilst I ran to find Da-In; I approached her stoically as I informed her that Seon-Ho had returned and that he was waiting for her in one of the private rooms with no candle. The look on her face made me want to rip her apart but I had my cold composure as she did everything in her power to show off her delight before making her way to the room. Seon-Ho was still missing as the night carried on as planned whilst I took the wife and girls into a different room to talk to them. I had to assure them that I wasn't a kiseng first, which took a while. I provided them with meals from the kitchen as well as material rugs I had in my room to make clothes with. It wasn't easy getting them to talk but I did my best to make the girls fee comfortable whilst their mother was shaking in anger over what her husband was doing in another room.. I asked them about their lines of work...and if she knew if her husband and brother-in-law knew of Seo Geom in their past.

The wife looked a little pale when I asked about my father; I begged her to tell me anything she could about it. She took one look at her daughters who were eating to their heart's content before confiding in me that she indeed did overhear a conversation her brother-in-law had with her husband about him. Apparently they were not his biggest supporters and when word spread around of my father's charge...they did what they did before my father had a chance to bring their illegal business down in which most of their workers relocated themselves to the area in which they names after him.
