Patrons of the sea and sky

Onicent grinned once Maiguh had disappeared through the portal. This was when Dauntice finally felt inclined to speak.

"Where did he go?" Dauntice asked

"Far, far away where he won't bother me again." Onicent said boldly.

Dauntice shifted uneasily. "Don't you think mother will be angry. The grass grew on his block."

Instantly Onicent was at Dauntice's throat, "mother must have made a mistake, I am clearly her strongest son. Don't you think." Onicent had Dauntice by the collar. Dauntice could easily see that Onicent overpowered Maiguh, and though he had no will to admit, he himself was out powered too. Dauntice nodded slightly, and was relieved to be let go of.

"Now that Maiguh is gone I will be this worlds leader," Onicent said arrogantly.

Dauntice felt a rise of indigence, "and me?"

Onicent and Dauntice argued for a time, Onicent was reluctant to share his bounty but also was clever enough to see that Dauntice was a good ally and a bad enemy to have. At last they settled on an agreement. Dauntice would become patron of all water of the world, he liked it anyway, and Onicent would get the land and sky. As this was decided Dauntice's skin changed to a strong and deep blue colour, and Onicent's skin faded into a green to match the grass. Both regarded each other in wonder, but figured this was sign of blessing from their mother. They parted ways then, Onicent went off to pursue becoming leader of the world. Dauntice however was cleverer and decided to pay a visit to the void and his mother.

When he descended into the void he found his mother sleeping suspended in space. He was surprised to learn she had gathered more of a form. When he approached she woke.

"Dauntice," she said curtly, "what brings you here?"

Dauntice analyzed her tone carefully, and decided it was safe to try to establish himself as sorry for what had become of Maiguh. The old goddess listened to her son with outward interest, while her mind turned over the information, Dauntice explained the fight and Onicent taking Maiguh to the portal, he left himself out of it. When he finished he was surprised to see that his mother was impassive. Perhaps Onicent had been right and it had been a mistake.

He smiled more easily now, and settled in with his mother to be doted on. After some time though he was missing his new realm and made to leave. However his mother stopped him with a request.

"I need you as an escort," she said lightly. That was when Dauntice realized they were not completely alone. His mother revealed to him three young girls, completely different from the ones that had sprung from the lava. There skin was paler and delicate, their was a softness to each of them.

"These are my daughters," she said.

Dauntice felt a mix of emotions. Some of them jealousy, but looking closely at the girls it fizzled, he could see that his mother loved them as much as she had loved himself before.

"Where do you wish me to take them," he asked.

"To Onicent's new castle, they have never been in the above world before and will need shelter and care."

Dauntice was somewhat confused by his mother's actions but agreed out of good will towards her.

Gently the first girl introduced herself as Serse, she was shy Dauntice could tell. The second sister spoke with more strength and indigence, she declared herself as Airabella, the third seemed more loving and somewhere in between her sisters, she went by Alora.

Dauntice lead the three out of the void and into the overworld, they were at first terrified by their surroundings, though Airabella in particular would never admit to it. Soon though they warmed to him, he showed them the many lakes and river he now ruled over. But soon enough he had reached the location of his brother's castle, he was unhappy to let them go, yet he walked away.
