Chapter Two

"So, why are we running away?" Pericles asked as they rushed away from the explosions. It was like fireworks in the forest. The Spark Energy was being released by the strongest individuals at the university, creating a spectacle both beautiful and terrifying. These explosions were not something you wanted to get caught up in—each blast was a potent force, impossible to withstand. this was explosions that would would certanly not want to get inside of, they looked like they were really soft and even clouds withstood their power buut it was just Spark energy doing its thing expanding in the air and not harming anything else if the person using it didn't want to, this was a high level technique tho that every supervisor here knew about, and they would teach it to students in the university.

"I TOLD YOU ALL!!! LOOK UP!!!" Alex shouted.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

"CRAP!!!" Pericles and the others looked up just in time to see a dark figure intercept an attack. The resulting explosion was so powerful it nearly knocked them off their feet.

BSHHHHH!!!

A shockwave expanded across the entire mountain.

"I felt an immense Spark gathering at a single point in the air. I thought it was someone's attack—and I was right!" Alex said, ready to take off again.

"If you don't believe me, you can stay here. But if you want to survive, come with me..." He wasn't about to risk his life trying to convince anyone. If they wanted to live, they'd follow him.

"AGHHHHHH!!!"

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

The explosions rocked the entire academy. Even the illusionary city was affected; the clouds parted, revealing a spectacle that stunned everyone. They had never seen anything like this. Only the most powerful Magos could unleash such destruction.

"AGH!" Alex sprinted away from the university, his mind racing about the exam. His previous simulations hadn't mentioned any of this chaos. The exam had only appeared in his simulation when he decided to attend the university.

By now, he should have been in the army. That confirmed one thing: If he played his cards right, Alex could alter his fate. But... what about his friends' fates? All he knew was that when the Kelion Empire invaded, his friends hadn't joined the army. But he didn't know why.

"AGHHHH, LET'S GO!!!" Maria shouted, darting to the right side of the road.

"HEY!!!" Alex stopped, watching how the others followed her without hesitation.

"Do I... fuck..." Alex cursed, then decided to follow Maria quickly. She was powerful in her own right; she might know a safe place to hide.

"WHY ARE WE GOING TO THE—AGHHHH!!!" Alex's voice trailed off in fear as they ran down a narrow alley surrounded by houses. They were heading straight for a wall, but then—

The wall shimmered, and they leapt through it.

"What... the fuck..." Alex muttered in disbelief.

In the Illusion

"Ghost, give up. Your subordinates are being dealt with. You won't defeat me alone. Make the right choice," Demetrious said, standing before Ghost with Adam slung over his back. He wasn't even breaking a sweat.

The dark-cloaked figure was now visible. He had dark skin, strange gray hair, and eyes with yellow-red irises. His clothing, beneath the dark cloak, resembled more of a vampire's garb than a Magos's. He had fangs protruding from his mouth and a body as muscular and solid as stone.

"Now, I wonder, what brings a man considered the pinnacle of the entire Empire to a mere exam at this prestigious university?" Ghost's voice was warm, almost mocking.

Demetrious didn't hold back. He raised his hand and vanished.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

"AGHHH!!!" Ghost grunted as Demetrious punched him hard in the stomach, catching him off guard.

"Damn you..." Ghost snarled, snapping his fingers. His eyes turned a bright, intense yellow, and yellow smoke began pouring out of his clothes.

"Disappearing smoke, from the Kelion Empire? Wow, I didn't expect Ghost—the assassin who's taken down many emperors—to align himself with Kelion. Do you know they're really poor?" Demetrious taunted, waving his finger.

BSHHHHH!!!

The smoke dissipated, revealing Ghost, who was trying to flee.

Demetrious vanished again.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

"I'll ask you this, Ghost: tell me who hired you, and I might spare you... Not that I could kill you that easily, right?" Demetrious said, looking back.

Ghost was standing exactly where he had been, despite Demetrious's attack.

There were two Ghosts now: one in front and another below him.

Ghost smirked. "Come now, don't play games. I know you know my secret... Isn't that right?" He looked back towards the city, his eyes focused on a particular spot.

"Cousin..." he whispered.

"Well, it's true. I can't kill you. Your little cousin may not care about you, but he'd still hold a grudge against me... So, what do you say? Drop the nonsense, leave the examinees, and go," Demetrious offered, returning to his stance.

For a moment, there was complete silence.

"I'm sorry, Demetrious... but I can't." Ghost's voice was firm.

"CRAP!!!" Demetrious vanished once more.

Ghost's eyes changed from yellow to red again. This time, the red spread through his veins. In a split second, he pulled out an amulet that hung around his neck. It was shaped like a diamond.

He tossed it into the air.

"CRAPPPPPPPPP!!!"

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

The amulet expanded, covering the entire city in a red hue. It was as if blood had evaporated into the air and was now descending upon them.

"What..." The supervisors, who had their hands full with the subordinates, looked up.

"KILL THOSE PEOPLE FAST AND GET THE EXAMINEES OUT OF THE ILLUSION!!!" Demetrious shouted.

"YES!!!"

"NO, YOU DON'T!" The subordinates increased their attacks.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

The supervisors retaliated.

Everyone looked up. A strange cloud covered the entire city—gray with a blood-red tint.

No one knew what this ominous presence was.

But then...

It started to rain...

A mix of clear rainwater and red liquid...

And within seconds—

ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAR!!!

A roar that shook even the stars erupted from the clouds.
