Freya
I tried opening my eyes but the ache in my head was unbearable. I could feel someone was holding me in their arms but I couldn't recognize the person. After a few moments when my senses were better arose, the woody scent hit me.
Gabriel?
I remembered running away from home, but how did he find me? What about the vampire that gave me a lift? Had he killed him? I tried moving but my limbs ached even with the slightest movement. Images of the SUV crashing into a tree flashed in my mind. So the accident was the reason for my battered condition.
I tried opening my eyes again applying a little more effort. My gaze fell on Gabriel, who seemed was involved in a battle with himself. The purple and bluish veins in his neck and face were visible and protruding. His fangs were extending and shortening. It was like he was fighting himself, trying to get control of his inner beast from coming out.
I placed my palm over his chest and his eyes snapped at me," Gabriel, are you okay?" I asked.
He was eyeing me like a piece of meat and I couldn't understand, why? Then I noticed the growling of the wolves around us. I turned and looked around and was surprised to find us surrounded by five huge wolves. I looked carefully at them and realized they were from my pack, but why were they growling at us?
"Gabriel?" I turned and looked at Gabriel who looked worse.
He was losing control and I couldn't understand why? Then I sensed the blood trickling down my forehead and onto my face.
Oh My God.
The sight of my blood was affecting him, Vampire could barely control themselves at the sight of blood. I knew if Gabriel made a move, the wolves would jump on him. One against five, it would be a miracle if Gabriel would last for a few minutes into the fight.
"Gabriel," I placed my hand on his cheek.
I should have been terrified by him at the moment, but I wasn't. Deep down in my heart, I knew Gabriel won't hurt me. He looked down at me with his flashing fangs, his eyes blood red and glowing.
"Gabriel, it's me, Freya," I whispered in a gentle tone.
Gabriel snapped out of his beastly state for a moment and peered down into my eyes with his green orbs.
The wolves around us were growing impatient, their growling had only increased and they looked like they would attack at any moment.
"Freya," Gabriel whispered in a helpless tone.
It was clear how much he was struggling at this moment. I still didn't trust him completely but I didn't want him to die either. If Gabriel attacked me, then the warriors won't leave him alive, I was sure about that.
I tried to get out of his hold but he only tightened his grip around me," Gabriel, put me down," I patted his cheek.
I received a low growl in response from him, his chest rumbled with his growl. Gabriel was not himself, he was still trying hard to control himself. I started struggling in his hold and he tightened his hold further.
"Gabriel, leave me, now," I said, in a stern voice.
I was getting scared a little looking at Gabriel. Even though he was trying hard it was clear he was failing. I started thrashing my arms and legs in his hold, but he was too strong for me. I remembered the way I had thrown him away in the woods behind my school and tried to remember how I had concentrated that amount of strength.
I tried concentrating my strength at one point and then I pushed my limbs away from my body screaming in the process. Gabriel's hold on me loosened and I stumbled backward from the impact. I jumped to my feet as soon as I was standing steadily on the ground I punched Gabriel hard on his face with all my strength.
For a second it looked like he had snapped out of the haze and the next moment he slumped on the ground below. I looked at my fist, astonished. Did I punch Gabriel so hard that he had fainted?
The warriors around me started shifting, I tried avoiding looking at their naked form. The leader of the warriors walked to me taking long strides.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
I nodded at him and he walked to Gabriel's unconscious form. He turned and looked at me astonished. It was evident he was shocked by the display of strength from me. "We should better leave this spot and wait in the woods till the other warriors arrive. I have asked them to bring some clothes for us and we will need a vehicle to transport him," he said looking at Gabriel's slumped form.
"Clean your blood before he wakes up," The warrior instructed me.
I pulled out a water bottle from the backpack which was still hung to Gabriel's shoulder. Soaking a napkin in the water I wiped the blood from my forehead and cheeks and was startled to find that I didn't have any wound.
I checked my forehead and head for any kind of cut or wound but there was none. How could this be possible? I didn't have a wolf so how did my wound heal so fast?
The warrior who was looking at my puzzled expression walked towards me" Is everything okay?" He asked.
I looked at him with my mouth agape, I couldn't find any words to explain to him that I was not okay. How could I be? I didn't have the wolf healing still my cut had healed within minutes. How could that be even possible?
"Yeah, I am okay," I replied to him.
"The Alpha just mind linked me, he will be here in a few minutes," the warrior said looking at me.
My heart sank on the mention of Dad, what was I supposed to tell him? How would he feel when he finds out that I was running away from home?
Mom and Dad had always loved me and had tried their best to cheer me up, despite everything, and how had I repaid them, by running away? I waited with a racing heart for Dad to arrive thinking about what I was going to tell him.
