Mystic Thief

Seventeen-year-old Devon Oasis became an orphan at the tender age of seven when his parents fell victim to an invasion. The tragedy occurred after their rival kingdom, Feuer, stole the power crystals that energized the defensive pillars of Devon's home kingdom, Audaznimo. The kingdom of Audaznimo was attacked on the same night the crystals were stolen, although the assault did not originate from Feuer. Audaznimo, having placed unwavering trust in the impregnable defense of the pillars, had let their guard down. Unfortunately, the pillars failed, resulting in a massacre of innocent lives. The method by which Feuer managed to dismantle the supposedly impenetrable towers remained a mystery to all. Although Audaznimo managed to push back the invaders, it was too late—the damage was already done. Devon, having lost his parents during the invasion, was fortunate to find solace with his uncle, the leader of a theft gang within the kingdom. Initially hesitant to involve his nephew in their illicit activities, Devon's uncle ultimately decided to impart his knowledge, believing it would benefit his nephew in various ways. Thus, Devon was introduced to the clandestine world of thievery. He became a part of the group, a group of young people of similar ages who had to steal to be able to sustain the orphanage. They were always reminded by his uncle that they were only stealing to make sure they survived at the orphanage since the kingdom didn't care about them and went on to lay out certain morals for them as thieves. However, Devon found those morals to be pointless because he had grown to love the thrill of stealing, the great sensation that came from being chased after taking someone's possessions. If there was anything he wanted, he was going to take it no matter what because to him, upholding morals as a thief was pointless and his fate as a thief was already sealed. Excerpt: "You know this is a B-ranked mission so Emilia will go with you and please try not to do anything careless?" His uncle's words rang in his mind as he freely tumbled down the hill of sand and when he finally hit the floor, he lost consciousness. [ Host is active ] [ System rebooting ] "What's going on?" He groaned as he sat up on the floor and pulled out the knife that was stuck on the left side of his abdomen, he was bleeding but surprisingly, he couldn't focus on that. [ Reboot completed ] [ Hello, Devon ] [ Your Master Thief System Is Active ] "What the heck is going on?" After mumbling those words, his vision slowly began to fade until he crashed down to the floor and passed out. What he obtained that day was a system that aligned perfectly with his major goal in life. "If all I have to do to become better at stealing is to keep stealing then that means I'm never going to stop for anything or anyone." ______ The story is going to start out a bit slow paced but I assure you that you're in for a ride because it won't take long before everything speeds up and the plot starts to get revealed bit by bit, enjoy! Chapter Eighteen: Blood Transfusion

Keeping every landmark he came across when escorting merchants to Sunglow Village in mind really came through for Devon in a situation like this otherwise he would have teleported them into another complicated situation.

Erina knew he needed blood even before he could say anything about it, but before she could do anything about that, they needed to get to somewhere comfortable, and fortunately for Devon, the river he teleported them to was a river just a few meters away from the village.

The old mam was okay with bringing them into their house and even offered them a bed for Erina to do the blood transfusion which Devon needed badly because his vision kept getting blurry on their way there and he had almost crashed down on the floor numerous times.

This wasn't the first time she was transferring some of her blood to someone to save their life.

Her aunt was a nurse and although she was just six years old when she died during the attack that night, she was able to pick up a thing or two from her about blood transfusion and how it was used to save people's lives.

She was aware that there were different types of blood groups although no one had been able to properly classify them yet.

Some needed blood from a specific kind of people with a specific kind of blood, if you ended up putting the wrong blood in their body then you would be doing them more harm than good.

And then there were those who made things a bit easy, the ones who could give blood to all kinds of people and the ones who could receive blood from all kinds of people with no risk at all.

It was her job to make sure that her mates who went out to take care of illegal business and came back with injuries sometimes serious sometimes not were properly treated, so she found it necessary to do some tests to find out how their types of blood reacted to each other because of a situation just like the one she was in right now.

If it wasn't for those tests she did a few years back, she would be panicking in this situation because she wouldn't want to make the mistake of giving him the wrong blood and making the situation way worse than it is.

But because of those tests, she was pretty calm now as she checked if the metallic container she was holding had any holes in it, she was going to be using her blood because she was one of those people who could give blood to anyone and even if that wasn't the case, everything would still be okay because Devon was one of those people who could receive blood from anyone according to her tests.

When they got to the house, the old man's wife and two children, a young boy and a girl about six and four years old were inside, but he had to make them leave and go wait outside because he knew that Erina needed space and quietness to do what she needed to do.

After making sure that there was no hole in the container, she made a hole beneath it just enough to fit the small rubber pipe the old man's wife provided her with. She was really glad that they had a couple of things that she could work with.

After fitting the tube through the container, she fixed the little needle on the end of the tube.

While she was doing this, Luis was just barely conscious, he wanted to say a few words to her but they just weren't forming.

Erina knew she had to hurry and because of that, she ended up cutting her thumb a little too much to fill up the container fast enough.

Cutting herself that much was really painful but she had to hold it in, and after the container was filled up, she sealed it properly with a piece of cloth and put the pipe into Devon's body with the help of the needle, she had already found the vein she needed to find before doing that.

Just before she did that, Devon's breathing was beginning to go up a bit but after that, it slowly began to go down as he slowly closed his eyes.

She also had to place some kind of clip on the pipe to control how fast the blood was flowing into his system.

"He should be okay now." She said with a sigh of relief before she picked up a part of the torn piece of cloth and used it to cover the wound on her thumb.

Four whole hours passed before Devon was finally able to regain consciousness, and when he opened his eyes, he found a little girl staring right into his face.

"Umm…hello." He muttered.

"Oh, you're finally awake." The little girl said before turning her gaze to her brother who was on the other end of the room. "Hey, Bennet, he's awake."

The lamps in the room were lit up now to provide light in the room which was confirmation that the sun had already gone down.

"I was wondering when he was going to wake up." The little boy said as he made his way to the area.

Compared to his sister, he didn't have a very pleasant look on his face.

"Hey, there," Devon said before trying to put on a smile.

"You're on our bed." The little boy grumbled. "How much longer are you going to stay on our bed? I want to lie down."

"Oh." He replied before turning his gaze to the pipe in his hand. "Where's Erina?"

"Oh, Miss Erina? She said she needed some fresh air then she walked to the big tree in front of the house and just stood there." The little girl expressed.

"Okay," Devon replied before he slowly dragged out what was in his hand and got up from the bed. "Thank you, you can have your bed back now."

"Wait, she said…"

She wasn't able to finish what she wanted to say before Devon was already out of the room.

It didn't take him long to spot Erina as soon as he stepped out of the house because she was still standing in front of the big tree with her arms crossed.

She had her eyes closed but she was aware the moment he got close enough and stood beside her.

"I thought I told Maya to come and call me as soon as you were awake." She uttered with her eyes still closed.

"Oh, maybe that was what she was trying to tell me when I ran off." He murmured before placing his hand on the back of his head.

After hearing him say that, she let out a sigh before slowly turning her gaze to him.

"So, how are you feeling now?"

"Compared to a few hours ago, I feel great." He replied before stretching out his arms.

'The system also confirms that.'

"Okay, that's good." She said with a nod before slowly turning her gaze back to where she had it before which was nowhere in particular.

"So, where's the old man?"

"He went out with his wife just a few minutes ago, they'll be back soon."

"Oh, okay."

After that, there was a little moment of silence between them before Erina decided to say something.

"You know, when you pushed me out of the way and got stabbed by that spider, I thought to myself, 'What was the need?' we were all going to die anyway then you asked for our hands and managed to get us out of that situation. What was that? Was that teleportation?"

"Umm yes, you saw it yourself." He replied.

"Teleportation and you don't even have a mark on your neck, so that's where that question came from."

"Yeah."

"How did it happen?"

"I don't really know I just started being able to do these things without having any mark, it felt quite strange."

For some reason, he just felt the need to keep out anything regarding the system.

"Wait, these things? So teleportation isn't the only thing you can do?"

"Yeah." He replied with a nod.

"So, what else can you do?"

After getting that question from her, he quickly scanned their surroundings with his eyes before turning his gaze back to her.

She still had his gaze on him when he suddenly disappeared right before her eyes.

"Devon?" She muttered with a shocked expression on her face.

"Right behind you." He said before tapping her on her shoulder from behind.

After feeling his touch from behind, she slowly turned her gaze to the area to see if he could but she couldn't. She had to stretch her hands toward him to be really sure of what was happening, and the confirmation was that she could feel a body she couldn't see.

"How is this possible?"

"Who are you talking to, Miss Erina?"

Hearing that voice from behind suddenly was quite frightening as she quickly turned around to find Bennet standing there with her little sister Maya.
