17 Trial by Combat

Kasumi watches on the Tv as Deku and Uraraka walk through the grid-style walls of the indoor combat test. They walk through quietly with their heads on a swivel. As they round the corner, Bakugo suddenly jumps out at them and fires out an explosion which singes the side of Deku's face and rips half his mask off.

Kasumi balls her fists and thinks,

"If I were there I'd put that dickhead in his place!"

Then, to her absolute shock, Deku counters his next move and throws him over his shoulder. He slams him down flat on his back while stupidly standing there yelling at him instead of running away. Kasumi yells at the screen,

"DEKU YOU MORON, HIS QUIRK'LL BLOW YOU APART IN SUCH A SMALL SPACE! MOVE TO ONE OF THE ROOMS!"

Meanwhile, Ida just kind of stands in front of the nuke with a lost look under his knight-esque helm.

"Damn you Bakugo! He just up and flew out of sight… What's up with that guy?!"

Ida attempts to get to Bakugo through the headset and gets yelled at by him.

Sadly, nobody can hear what's being said through the TV or else All Might would be greatly disappointed already.

Someone asks a question about that and All Might answers,

"Teams can communicate through small headsets, and they also have a rough sketch of the building's floors. And then, there's this! Capture tape! The second someone's wrapped this around their opponent, that's the sign they're captured!"

All Might lets them absorb the information for a second then continues,

"The time limit is 15 minutes, and the heroes don't know where the core is being held, right?"

"Yes?"

Mina, the pink girl, asks,

"The hero side is at a pretty heavy disadvantage in this scenario, huh?"

All Might looks at her and nods his head.

"This is because more often than not, heroes are at a disadvantage in real life situations. Besides, didn't Aizawa teach you kids out motto? SAY IT WITH ME NOW!"

Kasumi comes out of her daze and walks right up to All Might with a childish gleam in her eye,

"PLUS ULTRA!!!!"

Then the obnoxious wanna be french kid, Yuga, interrupts them,

"Ah, monsieur Bakugo!"

They all turn back to the monitors while Kasumi shoots the obnoxious twink a glare.

Uraraka starts running away to look for the room with the weapon while Bakugo focuses directly on fighting Deku. Deku constantly dodges his attacks, and even parries one with the capture tape. Deku starts running away down the hall, losing Bakugo in the maze. Bakugo yells out, completely disregarding his teammate. A few minutes pass, and Uraraka manages to find the room the weapon is in. Ida is currently spiraling into the ways of the actor, getting lost in his role of villain.

Uraraka seemingly finds this funny, as she stupidly lets out a chuckle, giving away her position.

Ida turns towards her and says,

"So you've come, Uraraka! I knew you'd be alone the second Bakugo bolted off! Your quirk causes things you touch to become weightless… With that in mind… I GAVE THIS FLOOR A THOROUGH CLEANING! NOW THERE'LL BE NO TRICKS FOR YOU TO TRY! YOU'VE MADE AN ERROR IN YOUR CALCULATIONS HERO! HAHAHAHA!"

Kasumi looks at him and says out loud,

"I can practically hear him getting too into the role."

She shifts her view to Deku who just started communicating with Uraraka about the location of the bomb. He seemingly comes up with an idea and is found by Bakugo who starts pointing his gloves at Deku.

All Might yells into the intercom in front of him,

"YOUNG BAKUGO STOP THIS!"

Kasumi suddenly fills anger boil up inside of her as she watches Bakugo pull the pin,

"YOU'LL KILL HIM!"

Bakugo mouths something, then a gigantic stream of explosive fire rocks the entire building and throws Deku into an empty room.

Kasumi takes off out of the observation site after seeing that and runs towards the building they're practicing in. All Might doesn't notice her but is quickly informed by Tsu of her taking off.

"YOUNG KASUM- Oh she's already gone. Young Tsu, do you mind fetching her for me while I attempt to get young Bakugo back under control?"

Tsu nods her head and quickly hops out after Kasumi who is using her energy to hover towards the site at a faster pace.

"YOUNG BAKUGO, IF YOU SHOOT ANOTHER BLAST LIKE THAT, I'LL END THIS EXERCISE. FORCIBLY. AND YOU WILL LOSE. LAUNCHING AN ATTACK WITH SUCH AN EXTENSIVE DAMAGE RADIUS INDOOR DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF DEFENDING YOUR STRONGHOLD! IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU'RE A HERO OR A VILLAIN, THAT WAS JUST FOOLISH! ONCE MORE, AND YOU'LL EARN YOURSELF SOME MASSIVE DEMERITS!"

Deku seems to talk into his earpiece again as Bakugo runs to attack him. He sends a blast in front of Deku's face to blind him, corrects himself mid air with a smaller blast, and sends another one straight into Deku's back.

While everyone praises Bakugo's suddenly intelligent attacks, Kasumi is just about to the building. She hears the fight going on, but isn't quite able to completely fly with her ability yet, so she goes running through the maze of the building to attempt to reach the two. She turns a corner just in time to hear All Might say,

"ATTENTION BOTH TEAMS, THE MATCH IS SUSPE—"

She gets to the place where they're fighting and sees them about to exchange blows. Deku seems to be aiming his attack upwards while Bakugo aims his at Deku's face.

"I'M HERE URARAKA!"

Deku yells out.

As their fists inch closer and closer together, Kasumi gets in between the two. She's hit dead on in the side of the face by Bakugo's blast, but still manages to give him a hard uppercut. She's rocked by this, but sends her energy out and grabs Bakugos head while he's in the air. She uses her energy to slam his head into the ground knocking him out.

As Bakugo loses consciousness, he looks at Izuku and notices that he has his arm up, ready to block the attack. Then he looks to Kasumi and sees that the side of her face is bleeding profusely and the hair on the left side of her head is singed off nearly, making her look like a much less serious Two-face from Batman.

Deku's punch blasts a hole through the ceiling, which gives Uraraka enough material to launch at Ida and land on the bomb, securing it.

Kasumi looks down at Bakugo with disdain on her face as the pain from the blast finally hits her. She says,

"Fucking maniac." and passes out from the pain.

Tsu arrives just in time to see smoke covering half of Kasumi's face, and her knocking Bakugo out with ease. She rears back in shock as she sees the bloody red mess that is the left side of her lover's face and hair. She hops over and catches Kasumi just before she falls over,

"You dummy! -ribbit"

She grabs her and starts bringing her outside as she hears,

"THE HERO TEAM WIIIIIIIINS!"

And then Deku collapses as well, from the shock of the blast and the pain in his arm.

Tsu angrily says to herself,

"This was just supposed to be training!"

In Bakugo's unconscious state, he keeps going over the battle with Deku. Noticing how he lost to him, and how he was easily dispatched by the girl Deku is always with. He starts sweating in his sleep as he is picked up and placed onto a stretcher-bot. However, he wakes up while being carried and gets off on his own. He looks over at the girl who knocked him out so easily and sees that he singed the side of her face and hair. He also looks at Deku who, although less so, is still injured by his hit to his arm. All Might sees him and pats his shoulder,

"Let's go back, young Bakugo. It's time for your critique."

The three still standing members of the team are in the monitoring room. Ida is announced as the MVP for the match despite losing because of his incredible adaptation to the situation. Uraraka listens to the critique half-heartedly, as she's only thinking about the injured Kasumi currently being treated by recovery girl. As soon as the critique is over, she goes up to all might and asks him in a hushed tone,

"Do you mind if I go stay in the infirmary for a bit?"

Tsu comes up with her and says,

"I'll go with her."

All Might thinks for a second, and gets the wrong idea in his head that his protege is already roping the hearts of young maidens and says,

"Ah, youth. Indeed, I'll allow it. I'll send someone to come and retrieve you in time for your bout, young Tsuyu."

And thus, the rest of the class took place without many major events. Todoroki won his bout on his own by freezing the entire building and walking up to the bomb. The rest are rather normal matches as no one has a particularly flashy quirk.

Uraraka and Tsu spend the next hour or so coddling an unconscious, recovering Kasumi. Recovery girl managed to recover her face without any major scarring, but is unable to regrow her hair. Thus, she shaved off the singed ends to make her hair more presentable as her hobby is cosmetology.

She decides to ask Kasumi about what she wishes to do with her hair before going any further.

Uraraka and Tsu sit together beside the bed with worried looks on their faces. Tsu because she was too slow to stop Kasumi from jumping between the two, and Uraraka because she saw the pained expression Kasumi had on her face when her skin was burned.

"That fucking dickhead…"

"I hate him. -ribbit."
