Chapter 91 Not Good for the Heart
The scent around the mini garden is being filled with lavender and wild berries. Aside from the lilac and its complementary plant peonies, some unknown overgrown vines also manage to crept in the garden.
The old man with a long scar on his face can be seen sitting down at one of the available benches with a look of a mixture of shock and bewilderment.
After a few moments of silence a soft and yet tender voice broke it.
"Alger Irlyrri, what a wonderful scenery, is it not?" The voice came from a slender young woman with a scarlet long hair and wore a traditional dress akin to a Japanese kimono.
Alger whose still dumbfounded didn't manage to utter a single word however his muscle memory help him to at least do a proper greetings to the protector by kneeling.
"Be at ease. I'm sure you're surprise at what you saw in this place." The protector said. "Death is a mercy given only to those people who deserves it. Sounds familiar? I actually took a liking to your words back at the great war." she added while giving the old man a playful smile.
These same words is still being used by Alger at the city he govern which is Venundarr. This exact philosophy helped him a great ton in keeping peace at the city even though it has the most human inhabitants in all of Zirracania.
He just didn't expected that the protector will apply the same philosophy in a greater scale. He didn't even want to ask how this prison works because he dreads the answer he might hear back. Pushing aside all the thoughts, the old man compose himself once again to deliver a grave news the protector.
After kneeling for a decent amount time. Alger finally rose up.
"Protector, I have news that my scouts at the abandoned cathedral witnessed." Alger said.
"You know I dreamt of a place just like this. A necessary evil to hold the greater evil in check." The protector said seemingly ignoring the old man's words.
Alger didn't know what to say at the protector words however he still need to deliver the news he brought with him.
"Protector, I apologize for being rude but I have a news with me that you need to hear right now." Alger said. If its any other news he will indulge the protector but not this time.
The protector just smile at the old man once again, turn her back and head towards a door. She then wave her hand signaling the old man to follow her.
The old man was left no choice but to follow the protector willingly.
The two of them head towards a door that seems to a way to a basement. The floral scenery is not apparent inside anymore instead the only thing Alger sees is torches and cobblestones.
After a few minutes of walking down the stairs the two of them finally arrive at a room. The stench that filled the room invades the old man's nose. He smelled worse during his time at the great war but this specific stench is foreign to him.
The protector however seems unaffected by the strong stench coming from the room.
"My babies found this creature preying on an elf outside a dungeon west of here." The protector said while pointing at the corpse placed at the table in the middle of the room.
The corpse belongs to a humanoid creature that has four tentacles by its mouth. A huge bite mark can be seen at the side of its torso, that looks like it belong to a hatchling.
Alger eye's widened in horror at the corpse of an unknown creature he's looking at.
"By the way you don't need to worry about Siegfried from the Angelus Guild. I am the one who summoned him, to be exact I asked for the three known God's Chosen of Lavierre Kingdom but he is the only one who answer the call." The protector explained without giving the old man a minute to recover from the shock. "Are you aware that Cleo and Leah are both God's Chosen as well? The way you act towards each other says so." she added.
Alger only act that way to Cleo since he wants him to marry his grand daughter however he is not aware of this fact since he didn't really have an ability to know unless the person in question says it to him otherwise.
