We arrived.
Gently, I knocked on the door. It was already turning dark and I could see the faint lights illuminating from the building windows around me.
Phantom city, even as big as it is, it seems to be a rather quiet place.
I haven't been here in a while so it's kind of hard to tell which is which.
Just when I was about to knock on the door again, I heard the footsteps of someone approaching the door.
I paused.
Footsteps weren't the only things my vampire ears picked up on. I could also hear the rapid pacing of this person's heart.
The door knob turned and then the door creaked open, only for a female with long red hair peeking out while her whole body was hidden behind the door.
"Who's there?" She asked with a silent voice.
I don't know if this was her way of trying to protect herself, but it somewhat made me giggle a bit.
Why?
Because seeing her face again made me remember the good old days.
"Hey Levi," I greeted with a smile.
I watched the worried look on her face fade into a sad-excited smile as she called out-
"Lulu! Where have you been?!"
Dropping the shotgun in her hand she leaped onto me and gave me a warm hug.
Once she was settled, she pulled away, her hand wrapped around my cheeks as she stared at me even more as if about to tear up.
"You've grown to be even more handsome now, what has it been, five years?".
"You don't look so bad yourself, Levi." I replied to her, putting a warm smile on my face, even though it was forced.
Reason being, I could hear how fast her heart was beating, something was definitely making her sacred.
Knowing Levi, she's so stubborn that even she might be convincing herself she is not.
Suddenly - her eyes moved towards Tess and Rose.
"Friends of yours?" Levi asked.
"Yeah."
She smiled again, but all of a sudden, began looking left and right nervously.
"Come in."
She pulled me by the arm and waited for both Rose and Tess to walk in before picking up the shotgun and locking the door behind her.
Getting into the house, I sat down on the chair while Rose and Tess settled beside me.
Levi was in the kitchen getting us some snacks and tea.
I'm not all that surprised that she's here considering she's my friend James Riggin's sister. But she was supposed to be schooling in another state.
Sigh, can't be complaining when it isn't like I have been in touch with them.
"Here you go~"
Levi showed up, placing the tray of snacks on the table, she settled on the ground opposite me and just smiled.
Tess couldn't hold back and reached out for the snacks only for Rose to slap her on the hand.
I sighed aloud.
"Levi, you good?" I asked.
Her heart skipped again.
"Yeah sure… Why do you ask?"
Now I know for a fact she's hiding something.
"Where's James? Is he not home?"
"He.. uhn,.."
That was when I heard it, the weird creaking sound coming from inside one of the rooms.
I know that sound anyway.
"Levi, do you have a guest?"
The moment I asked this question, she froze up completely, sweating nervously as she looked to the ground.
"Sorry to intrude."
With that I stood up from the chair, although instantly, Levi also stood up to block my path.
"Wait! Wait! You can't just walk into someone's home and start going around the place."
"It sounds like you're in trouble, shut up and let me help."
I pushed her a bit to the side as I began my advance forward again.
She was still trying to push me back, then again, her strength was no different from a six year old trying to win a tug of war against me.
During all the struggle, I managed to arrive near the door where the weird sound was coming from.
And it was this moment, Levi genuinely began acting up.
She grabbed my hand -
"Please don't open it! I beg of you!!!" She pleaded.
Part of me wanted to respect her wishes and just act like there was nothing behind the door. Then another part of me knew exactly what was behind it.
A devil.
Since my memories are not all that complete yet, I don't have full details on what these devils are or how they came to be.
All I knew was, in my previous life, these devils made it their life's mission to wipe the vampires off the face of the earth.
And the man who was supposedly their leader, Kong, he was not only obsessed with killing me, but also taking the power of my progenitors.
Grin!
Right now, a devil is behind this very door, I'll be damned if I don't -
"Arrrrrhhh!"
Unexpectedly, the devil behind the door broke through, ripping the door as it charged towards me like a hungry dog.
The moment I laid my eyes on the devil, I was left stunned -
"Lady Riggins?" I blurted out.
Yes, I was stunned, this was the mother of my friend. But now she looks like a monster who only wants to rip my skin apart.
There was no time to think about it.
I pushed Levi to the side, the moment the devil opened her mouth to bite me; I clenched my fist.
Baaaam!
My fist went straight into her mouth and slammed on the ground, leaving a huge crack from the force.
My left eyes had taken a red glow and my body was swarming with energy.
Slow, I pulled my hand from the imploded head, blood dripping from my fingers as I looked at Levi.
I couldn't help but grin as I asked,
"Are you okay, Levi?~"
And her reaction didn't let me down, she was down back frozen in fear.
Her lips trembled as she pointed at me with her shaky finger,
"Y-You.. just…"
I stood up right, whipping the blood on my cheeks with a smile,
"Sorry, did I scare you? How rude of me." I pointed to the side of my head, "Levi, you have some explaining to do".
