My Wife is a Spy

Six years after her brother was killed, Ying Yue finally became the top spy agent at Juyan Intelligence Agency. She leads a double life: a secretary by day, and a spy at night. However, after accidentally protecting her CEO boss on a shoot out, he suddenly has his eyes set on taking her as his wife! ***** It was Ying Yue who broke the tension with a light laugh. "I'm sorry Mr. Fei, I know I might sound absurd, but it sounded like you wanted to actually, really, be in a relationship with me." "It is not absurd." He cocked his head to one side. "I find you smart and attractive, and trust me, I do not remember being attracted to anyone else." Ying Yue's calm façade broke. She frowned, unable to understand what was going inside the brain of the great Fei Huangjin. She used to admire the man, but now she couldn't help wondering if the incident last night made him crazy. "Mr. Fei, I implore you not to make fun of me like this." "I'm not joking." "Yes, you are." She insisted. "Go on a date with me." "No." "And call me Huangjin." "I will not, Mr. Fei!" Her voice had already inched a notch higher. "Why not?"

Can he be trusted?

Big Boss sighed. "Xi Shenghui, please handle the investigations for this. You can ask Mo Yiling for help."

The man nodded his head and excused himself for a moment.

When he left, Ying Yue turned to the other two men in the room. "Can he be trusted?" She just met the guy a few minutes ago, and she knew she should be grateful that he saved her, but the fact was, she didn't know anything about him. Even if he was the captain of the pheonix team, what if he was the mole?

As Big Boss opened his mouth to speak, she cut him off with a wave of the hand. "No, no! I don't want you to answer. You're terribly biased." The guy almost refused to believe that there was a mole in the first place. That made him the worst person qualified to answer her question at this point. She shook her head at him and jutted out her chin to Mo Yiling. "You, genius, what do you think?"

Big Boss sighed and sat back on the couch. If he didn't think she was family, he'd probably have had her fired from Juyan a long time ago.

"I have a name, you know."

She propped up an elbow and leaned her head on one hand. "Just tell me what you think, Yiling."

Although Mo Yiling cared about her, he had to admit, Ying Yue was really quite exasperating at times. She'd probably have been one spoiled annoying little sister to her brother.

He stopped what he was doing on the computer and swiveled his chair to face her. "Okay, listen."

The girl sat up with a grin, appearing attentive. For someone who was almost taken away, she sure was a bit too bubbly.

"Xi Shenghui was the youngest man in the empire's elite special forces. He left the special forces to be the head of security for the state leader." He paused to type something on his keyboard, and he rotated one screen monitor so that Ying Yue could see what was on it.

It was the news report seven years ago about the state leader's wife almost getting assassinated. The hitman wasn't successful with his assassination attempt, but the wife got injured, and she became paraplegic since then.

"So Xi Shenghui was the head of security during this time?" She gasped. It must've been a big headache for the guy. On the up side, the state leader's wife wasn't successfully assassinated, but then again, she was still injured.

Mo Yiling nodded.

Big Boss cleared his throat. "He blamed himself for the whole thing. He resigned from his post, and he got into a bit of depression." He couldn't help but cut in on their story-telling. He was the one who reached out to Xi Shenghui after it happened. He knew better than anyone how much guilt that guy had been carrying since then. "I got him some help, and I hired him when he was ready to get back to work."

Mo Yiling swiveled his seat away from the other two. He sat back and looked up at the ceiling. That guy may not be the best in making conversations during the few times he'd had to deal with him, but Xi Shenghui was always so eager with his job, like he cherished it. And he was strong enough to pick himself up and recognize that he needed help. Mo Yiling couldn't say the same for himself. "So, shadow fox, if you ask me," he said out loud, "I would trust Xi Shenghui."

Ying Yue glanced at the back of Mo Yiling's chair, and then directed her gaze at Big Boss.

He shrugged at her, as if knowing that she wasn't going to take his opinion seriously even if he said something.

The man they were discussing knocked and walked inside the office with a paper bag in hand. When he reached Ying Yue, he handed the bag over to her.

The two other men in the room raised their eyebrows.

"I got you clothes from the supply room. Might be a bit big on you but they're clean." Xi Shenghui sat down at the empty spot next to Big Boss.

The paper bag had an army green sweater and jogger pants inside. He was giving her clothes? Ying Yue looked down at herself and only then noticed that her turtleneck sleeveless top had blood splattered all over it at odd places. She glanced at him. He wasn't looking at her and was already in deep conversation with Big Boss about how to go about flushing the mole.

She suddenly felt guilty for thinking bad about the guy. But then again, she could never be too trusting or complacent with people.

There was most likely an unknown mole in Juyan, and Jade Circle was after her. That was reason enough not to trust anyone blindly.
