Siren luring a fisherman

Azrael burst out laughing seeing his dilemma. Did he really think she would keep some soul in her house?

"Relax, come in." Azrael walked in, giving him an assured wave.

August gulped hard and in the end, decided to follow her in. What could be worse than her? Nothing.

Azrael turned on the lights and only then did August notice what kind of magnificent house she had. He felt like stepping into royalty.

It was no less than a castle from the Victorian era. The walls were made into book stacks filled with each and every kind of book humankind ever had.

The huge coulomb touched the ceiling, which was dome-shaped and transparent, perfect for stargazing.

The chandelier was nothing less than exquisite, and the staircases with the finest of details. The wall beside the staircase with paintings of hers from different eras. From European gown to Japanese kimono and in none of them she aged a bit.

"Awestruck?" Azrael inquired standing beside him with folded arms.

August's gaze followed her and after a few moments of silence he finally asked,"Do you have underhand work or do you sell your grooms for this luxury."

"What!" Azrael looked at the man standing next to her in disbelief.

Azrael was not sure whether he was joking or being serious? Was he scared that she would sell him? Come on, who would even buy him but instead of telling him that another evil plan was brewing in her mind.

Azrael bit her lower lips seductively and looked at him fluttering her eyelashes. August flickered in shock and took a step back.

What was she doing out of nowhere? He had no interest in sleeping with a grim reaper even though her beauty was top notch.

She was no better than a siren luring a fisherman only to be eaten by her. He was definitely not that fisherman.

Azrael hunched a bit revealing a bit of her cleavage, as she walked further close to him. August was a bit flustered seeing her act like that, stepping back further away from her.

He was too bewildered by her sudden change of behaviour to say anything to her. He backed up until he hit the sofa and toppled over on the sofa.

"W-what you doing" August stammered seeing her hovering over him, with a suspicious grin.

"Guess?" With that, she moved her face closer to him, seeing that August instantly closed his eyes, ready to get his heart eaten.

"Relax, I don't like males as food but I may if you disobey me in future," Azrael whispered, and then looked up at him, who was still closing his eyes, holding onto his breath in fear.

"Understood?" Azrael confronted. To which August just nodded in affirmation. He loves his life too much to get eaten.

"Good." With that, she got up and walked away upstairs.

As much as August gets excited about her appearance competing against Aphrodite but Azrael one should not be fooled by her appearance. As much as the appearance looked gentle she was a cold and vicious one.

Maybe she didn't eat people but what if she did? He can't risk his life again. It would be shameful if he dies a second time to a woman. Funny no matter how he acts he is fine and doesn't think about it but he does. Every passing moment of his very existence is like a remainder.

Women. Women are cruel and vicious creatures. Till years ago he thought being loving and caring is what got girls' hearts but they are just selfish. August had no idea why she did that? Why go to such length to kill him?

"Come fast!" Azrael ordered impatiently waiting for him.

August stopped pondering on his thoughts and looked up at Azrael standing on the staircase turning her head towards him. Giving a nod in response he followed her.

Azrael took him to the north wing, and the more he looked at the place. He understood one thing, she was someone who likes to live like a royal. Everything in that house was branded or expensive enough that even if he sells himself on the black market he still can't afford it. At first, he thought it was just the entrance but every room screamed luxury.

"Do you rob people or trap and murder rich guys to get so much wealth?" August blurted the question checking the room she brought him. It was a bedroom more like a king's bedroom with how luxurious it was.

"What are you talking about? It's the most shabby bedroom I've got here?" Azrael asked, purely puzzled.

Grim reapers earn too. They can decide which currency they want to be paid. Since Azrael preferred to live in the mortal world and spend her income there she chose her currency of the human world.

And her house was not even that extravagant. She brought him to the most shabby room in her house and he was asking him that question. The guy always asks the opposite of the expected question.

"..." August was dumbfounded. Shabby? This was shabby to her? How rich was she to find that room shabby?

August had lived a rich life in a neighbourhood which was infamous as the richest in the country. So he thought he had seen enough wealth but this was nothing compared to his house.

Even her mansion was bigger than the whole community. Ok, that may be a bit too much. August thought again, he peeked at Azrael. She still had no idea what she said.

Her mansion was at least bigger than his house which he was sure of. But who will make her understand that her house was not shabby? Definitely not him. Who knows what she will do.

"Nothing." August shook his head, forcing out a nervous laugh.

Azrael just shrugged off at his eccentric behaviour. To her, he already looked like a weird person.

"Well then get some rest." Azrael lazily said walking away from his room. Leaving him in a room larger than many middle-class houses.
