Catching up with her, Yang Chen handed her the white Hermès handbag she had left behind, saying, "You left without your bag. How were you planning to drive without your car keys?" Ruoxi turned to accept the bag and muttered a "Thank you."

Yang Chen, smiling, remarked on the rarity of such gratitude from her. To which Ruoxi, with a hint of uncertainty and eyes slightly moist, asked if she had never thanked him before.
