Chapter 16: This is more like it in a cultivation world
While Li Yun was having a 'small talk' with, Feng Ling, the situation in the MEG was going to an unexpected circumstance, the student that entered inside, were sent to the 'Green mountain forest' but it wasn't the wild place that they expected. There was a fortress city surrounded by the trees.
When the student approached near it, a loud trumpet noise was heard coming from inside. Soon, under the incredulous look of these youngsters, an army or cultivators wearing clothes from a long time ago rushed at them screaming:
"The preys are just ahead, It's time for the looting! DONT LEAVE ANYTHING BEHIND!"
They then attacked directly with a ferocious assault fully intent on stripping these fat sheep's of everything they held. The army was made up of men and women alike, there were also some young children that shouldn't participate in such a wrenched act but they showed the same resolution to fight for their spoil. Such a warmongers and greedy population was rarely seen since ancient time, they were the very infamous Mountain Wolf clan that inhabited the Green Mountain Forest several ten thousands of years ago.
A little girl with braided hair assaulted a bald guy with feathers on his head, she then proceeded to strip him of everything before knocking him hard on the ground. The guy then fell on a slanted rock and snapped his neck sending him to the afterlif… outside of the MEG...
Most of the young students were overwhelmed by the sight, they couldn't respond to the barbaric assault properly and many of them got ejected outside still holding disbelieve and fear on their faces, but no one cared about these loser as the screen outside showed some of the students that managed to fight back, but their situation seemed precarious as they fought on their own against an army of veteran fighters.
The ones who showed the most promise were only a selected individuals, like a young man with red short hair and a black horn on his head, he managed to calm down the people around him, then he brought them to only defend against the assault toward them while retreating behind. Long Xuan who led the people around him behind wasn't proud of his action, he was actually feeling quite helpless. The they may manage to get away for now but in the end they would get swallowed up by these guys after they finished off the other.
As he looked around to see if their was no way to turn the situation to their favor, he saw two people that managed to escape the disaster on their own, they danced amidst the chaotic battlefield like butterflies that ride the wind, they were the twin Wu Xing and Wu Lin, they also remarked Long Xian and his group and decided to regroup with them for now. They then took a tactical retreat for now and assemble with the other that managed to escape to ready a counter attack.
As the battle progressed, more than half of the students got ejected and the rest were escaping like street rats, the Mountain Wolf clan pursued them without letting go but many of them still managed to run away. The pursue stopped when the student got down from the mountain, it seemed that this was a setting made as a last mercy on them…

Half an hour passed by in a flash, many students were already sent out of the dome and looking at the other still inside feeling dispirited, they knew that they screwed big this time, the strength of these ferocious warmongers was actually the same as most of them, the strongest was in the Peak of the 9th rank Qi accumulation realm.
The young man with bald head with some feather on it felt the worse, even though she was in the 7th rank Qi accumulation realm just a bit bellow him, it was still so shameful to get knocked out by a little girl. If only he managed to keep his composure. But, there was no if in life…
The other weren't as tragic as him but they also showed regret.
Several students led by Long Xian and the surprising Chan Feng were making an alliance to make a counter attack, they were quite organized and the teachers thought that they had a chance even if it was only a small one.
Li Yun looked at the situation with some cold sweats on his back; he may be far stronger than any of the participants there, but he would also have gotten caught off guard if something like that happened to him. It wouldn't be able to get rid of him out of the Dome but he wouldn't escape the embarrassment. Look like he would have to take it more seriously. Never underestimate a test or you may burn your hand, the one who walk on the riverside would get his shoes wet sometimes…
A teacher then approached him and Feng Ling saying that the multifunction could be used now, they then followed behind him to ready for their own test.
When they reached the entrance of the MEG, they saw a jade panel on it, it was the screen to select the Simulation they would have to get through.
"Fellow student Feng Ling, I will give you the honor." Li Yun said gentlemanly, he wasn't doubting his luck, he wasn't…
Feng Ling wasn't polite as she confidently put her hand on it.
The panel then showed the result:
'City of thousands'
Such a strange name, but she showed a faint smile looking at it.
She then entered through the Dome after saying:
"Then, I will go first then."
Li Yun showed a strange look, why does it seems that she act more like the main character than him? Such a peculiar feeling…

Feng Ling and Li Yun appeared in front of a large cliff towering to the heaven, a wide ravine was separating it into two like a pillar of light. Li Yun felt awed by the sight since it looked like it was made by the cut of a large sword making his imagination grow wild, he followed Feng Ling who directly went here.
As they reacheded the ravine, they found out a large stone stela with some word engraved on it, it read 'City of thousands'; but, Li Yun felt awed again, from the stela's engraving, he could infer that the cliff was the surrounding wall of the city while the ravine was the entrance…
'Fudge! This is what I wanted! It's more like a cultivation world.'
He couldn't help but sigh inside, doing such an awesome but pointless thing like slashing a cliff into two and make a city entrance out of it, that's how a cultivator should act. So arrogant, so domineering, he really liked that…
Li Yun felt that he should also put more effort as he decided to take the initiative, he then took his courage and walked forward in a domineering fashion, what was there to fear. He waved his arm and a long silver stic… staff appeared on his right hand, it was the Great Immortal weapon the 'Heaven Breakers'! It shined under the sunlight radiating an ancient feeling like a primordial breath.
Meet Gods slay Gods, meet Devils slay Devils, it was under such a great momentum that Sun Wuk… cough… that Li Yun advanced forward in the huge ravine.
Feng Ling looked at the staff with some seriousness, she had never showed such an expression before, she then followed him inside with light steps.
Li Yun didn't know but the moment he brandished Heaven Breakers, the people outside all showed a incredulous expression, was it a good thing for him or not? Who know…

The ravine was quite long to traverse, but they managed to reach the end after some time; on the other side, what greeted them was a breathtaking sight, it was a city from the ancient time craved out of stone with buildings that seemed to be made of the same mold, and there was a majestic jade palace in the middle of it hung on a hill.
As they entred the city and walked on the paved road, they saw several people walking out of a stone building, they were wearing blue leather armor, they were lined up like soldiers radiating a cold feeling like puppets, one man that wore a blue robe walked up to the two youngsters and asked:
"Intruders, what are you doing there?"
The soldiers behind him readied their weapons and began to surround them as he said that, Li Yun took the lead as he said calmly:
"We came in peace, please…" He couldn't finish his words as,
'Pu' ! A black spear shot out beside him and pierced a guard nearby drawing the first blood.
Feng Ling then stormed with her spear slashing and piercing left and right making a short work of their opponents.
Li Yun wanted to ask what the neck this woman was doing, there was no need to act so unreasonable right? Even a fight to the death need some introduction first. But he suddenly dodged deftly several meters to the side as a bunch of arrows radiating a very dangerous feeling rained on the place he stood before.
He then looked up left and right and saw that many shadows on the roof of the buildings or hiding behind windows holding crossbows.
No one there seemed to know propriety. These people didn't want to have a talk with them either, they directly went for the kill.
Li Yun thanked his previous self for being wary and always ready for battle, he had spread his spiritual sense and remarked these guys in advance.
He then sighed as he said:
"The first one to take the leader's head will win are you fine with that?"
"Fine, I accept your proposal." Feng Ling said as she killed another batch and leaped forward to go to the Jade palace directly evading and blocking the attacks coming to her , these small fries weren't a problem but fighting them would be a waste of time.
"Can't have a proper talk with that girl. She always do whatever she want." Li Yun muttered before going forward too, but he didn't try to evade like her. Starlight began to gather around him, his black eyes became so bright like a river of star was passing through them. A mountain couldn't have two tiger, it was time to show everyone who was the boss in this generation.
'Flash' a bright silver light illuminated several hundred meters surrounding almost blinding the people looking at the monitor outside.
The other students and even several teachers were awed by this sight. Teacher Luo Hua sighed looking at this:
"This kid is really a genius, no matter how obnoxious his reputation is…"
'BANG' A huge explosion resounded as the shockwaves hurled all the small fries around backward, a shooting star then rushed out at an incredible speed speeding to the Jade palace.
Feng Ling was caught up instantly and stopped for a moment, she then headed to a different direction no one knew what she was thinking.

While the situation in the city of thousands was welcoming the climax, the people in the Green Mountain Forest finally managed to overcome the leader of the Mountain Wolf clan, but it was a picric victory, most of the student were already sent outside, and the one left were either unable to stand anymore or lying on the ground, there were only a few people that still stood strong; they were Long Xuan, the twin Wu Xing and Wu Lin, the cold young man called Chan Feng, and the surprising Wen Bao who was listening to the last words of a guy sprawled on the ground:
"If you manage to see her once again, say to junior sister Tao'er that I always liked her, even in death she was the only thing I could think about, promise me Brother Wen…" He then faded away to rejoin the world where his comrades were waiting for him…
"Brother Gu Jian!" Wen Bao screamed in grief.
The other looked at them speechlessly, if you want to declare your love just so it later, was their a need to be so dramatic…
They then also left the simulation and appeared outside where many people were giving thumb up to Gu Jian. While a young lady was giving a pout with a red face.
But, Long Xian and the other didn't bother about that, they were more concerned with the other simulation showed on the screens, thing seemed to reach the last phase, who would get the leader's head between the two monsters…
