Fiona was shocked. She immediately helped Serene up and pretended to comb her hair. She said in a coquettish tone, "I'm so clumsy, Mom. Did I accidentally hurt you while combing your hair?"
Serene was a mute. How could she speak?
Fiona smiled and helped Serene upstairs with a loyal and obedient expression. "The beautician is waiting upstairs, Mom. Let's go!"
Serene couldn't fight back. She was dragged up the stairs by Fiona.
In the living room, the guest smiled and joked, "Miss Melling is such a loyal daughter. You're so lucky to have a kid like her, Mr. Melling!"
Hogan looked upstairs and laughed. "My daughter is so cheeky. I'm sorry you had to see that."
"Of course not. With such a beautiful and capable daughter, I have nothing but admiration!"
The polite conversation was vaguely carried up the stairs.
In a corner out of sight of the guest, Fiona let go of Serene with a look of disgust.
