46. Countdown to evolution

Abraham stored the 10 advanced crystals inside the system inventory and proceeded to open the next one. Another notification was shown but this time it was ten intermediate crystals. One after the other, all six crates were opened. Abraham found another intermediate crate and the three others were basic ones.

Abraham placed the crates back in their original positions leaving no shreds of evidence behind of possible sabotage.

Abraham did a final round around the dalki settlement confirming the presence of a total of 9 one-spike dalki. Now it was time for Abraham to complete his quest. He only needed blood from three one-spike dalki. After some observation and patiently waiting, the right situation presented itself in front of Abraham.

On the outside, near the wall of the building, two one-spike dalki was quarreling. It looked like at any moment a fight would break out. Under the cover of the shadow, Abraham quickly arrived near them unnoticed as soon as both the dalki turned to go their separate way. Due to his training in blood energy, Abraham became proficient in controlling the shape of blood energy. He formed a thin line of blood on each hand and launched it on the back of the two dalki. The back of the dalki got pierced and the green blood started to flow from the small hole due to the attack. In that short amount of time, Abraham placed his hands on both bloods and activated his blood bank skill.

Just as swiftly Abraham came, he retreated the same way. Two done; one to go. The system would recognize the blood stored in the blood bank and would automatically update the quest.

Both of the dalki thought that the other had hit them, and a fight broke among them. As for the initiator of the fight, he was moving on to find his next target.

Abraham didn't have to wait for long as he saw a dalki leaving the settlement to explore the forest. As soon as the dalki's distance from the settlement was far enough, Abraham closed the gap and in one swift attack, the dalki's body was lying dead on the ground.

Taking some of the green blood in his hand, Abraham quickly consumed it. The feeling of mint he got from the first time when consuming a dalki blood was still present. Then a sound was heard inside his head.

"What. Why is there a countdown and why it will need so much time? System do you have any idea?" An evolution would normally happen immediately and this was the first time a countdown happened. Even in the original story something like this never happened.

"I have no idea. Maybe it is due to having both dragon and vampire bloodlines. The change in your body is something never seen and what that evolution would do. I advised you to go back to the Green and wait for the countdown there." replied the system.

Abraham looked at his mutated cells first to know if he had enough due to the continuous use of the shadow cloak. Thankfully there was more than necessary allowing Abraham to use shadow teleportation skill.

Back near the human settlement, Abraham bolted to the Green's location. Inside the lab, he found both of the Green looking at multiple screens.

Through their ability, they knew Abraham was just behind them so without turning, Emily started talking.

"Welcome back. We are 90% finished with the creation of body perfume for Robert. As for Gwen, it was in the morning that we received her blood but it should be faster to make it for her."

That was some good news. In that way, Gwen and Robert could even come near a vampire without the latter realizing that two vampire subclass are standing around him.

"How did the expenditure go? Were you able to find the dalki settlement?" only then didn't both of the Greens turn to Abraham.

"There is a total of eight one-spike dalki. There was a two-spike dalki but from what I saw, he had the job of coming to the dalki settlement by airship to collect beast crystals. It should take off soon as they were finished loading the plane with crates. I hope using this information, the human army will be able to kill and eliminate all the dalki from this planet.

Apart from that, I have a request from you. Something is going to happen to me in 2 hours and 48 minutes. My body will start changing for a long period. I might be dormant for up to two years. I was hoping to use the spare room for that period of time. I'm going to talk to Gwen and Robert now."

When listening to Abraham, the Green was already planning how to deal with 8 dalki but they were not worried as Abraham was with them until he announced the second part. Since meeting him, Abraham has given them shocking news one after the other.

"There is a bunker under the lab, it is one of the safest places on this planet. You can spend your time there. Gwen and Robert are currently inside the VR pod. Do you want me to interrupt them?"

Abraham signal them no but asked the Green to record a message for him. Abraham proceeded to leave a message for his two sub-vampires. After some more talking with the Green, they guided him to an underground stair.

Opening the door, Abraham found himself in a room fully made of Galthreium. The room contained a bed and some other necessities. Abraham made his way to the bed and lay on it. As there was still one hour to go, Abraham decided to open his status window.

Looking inside himself, Abraham found the two sources of energy that have increased by leaps and bounds. They came from all the human blood he consumed on earth and all the Qi drain he did on the dalki. While waiting for the countdown, he decided to take the time to circulate his Qi and blood energy.

Compared to the first time when he started the blood training by making numbers and alphabet symbols on top of his fingers, now he could do much more. That was how he was able to make a thin line of blood like a needle when attacking the dalki. Abraham was able to make any shape and navigate it up to 25m. After some time, the final was approaching.

After taking some deep breaths to relax, he opened the countdown window.
