Chapter 4: Don't be like those girls

" You guys won't believe it. I got a job in Kampala. " Mia shouted while jumping in exitement.

" A job in Kampala, Aren't those people faking you ? " One of the other girls asked

" They can't. I believe they are not. " Mia said as she begun cleaning again.

" Those people lie. They act like you are going to get a good job and then use you as their sex tools. " The other woman spoke.

" Guys, Let's not have a negative attitude towards those people. In every place there are always good and people. Are we going to ignore the fact that we have thieves and rapists in this place ? " She posed a question.

" Hmmm..." The old woman chuckled but ofcourse she had no answer to this.

" This is my chance to explore the city. City life..." Mia giggled as she continued to clean.

By evening, Lyton was already in the city. Lucas came and picked her from the bus station in his car and the drive to kololo was not that long.

" Welcome back home my daughter. " Ava opened her arms for a hug when she saw Lyton.

" Thank you Mom...How are you ? " Lyton asked after the hug.

" All is well dear. We just missed you. " Ava said and they went to sit down.

" Mom...she has only been away for just three days and you miss her. How will it be once she gets married ? " Lucas asked making the three of them to laugh.

" Lucas...who told you that i am getting married ? " Lyton questioned.

" You are already 27. All your friends are now married ! " Lucas spoke with a chuckle.

" Gwe, People marry to 30's . My daughter is still young. " Ava said caressing Lyton's hair.

" I hear young. " Lucas got up. " Anyway she is all yours again. You guys made me to drive this evening through the jam and now I want to have rest. " Lucas said as he walked to the stairs to his room.

" Please rest ! Very soon you will start running the company. " Ava said.

" And it's hectic ! " Lyton added.

When Lucas was away, Lyton sighed.

" My daughter tell me. How was the trip ? " Ava asked.

" It was nice Mom. Actually...I met some girl in the village of kisoro. She is really talented. "

" What are you talking about ? " Ava put a puzzled look.

" I mean...this girl has nice gown ideas even though she is not educated. Look' I took some photos of them. " Lyton gave Ava her smart phone.

" Well...indeed they are nice and unique. Now, What do you plan to do with her ? " Ava asked.

" I already promised her a job and she said she will come as soon as the year begins. "

" So...you are bringing a village girl to Kampala ? " Ava asked in disbelief.

" Yes Mom. She will be of a good use to the company. You know we have been having competition from unique bridals and all those companies. But we need Makula to remain the leading company with unique Bridal wears. " Lyton spoke.

" Hmmm..." Ava smiled. " I love the woman you have become my dear daughter. I will tell your father about it. " Ava promised.

" Mom... I am really tired from the trip. Let me also go sleep early today. Don't count me on supper. " Lyton said getting up.

" Well then. You can go ! " Ava said and Lyton gave her a smile before leaving.

After two weeks...

Tuesday W3

Mia was finally organizing her clothes in the small old laptop bag as she was going to Kampala the following day.

Grace watched her with a thin smileas she fed one of the kids from Uncle Robert. He had finally sent them.

When Mia finished packing, Grace came and sat near her.

" Mia...tomorrow you are going to the City. I want you to listen to these words. " She begun.

" Yes Granny. I am listening.." Mia answered with a thin smile.

" When you reach there, Don't try to be like those girls and women that put on short dresses and skirts. Don't change your hair to those rainbow colors. Don't put those long nails and put on those red things they put on their mouths. Be a good girl...remember to pray to God always. "

Grace said and Mia listened looking up at her. You could see the fire flames from the lump in their eyes.

" And when you reach there, Remember that men are evil. No one should ever lie to you that they love you unless they are willing to come here and introduce themselves. And please....don't engage in sexual immorality. Always remember that sex before marriage is sin. Do you hear me ? " Grace asked to see if she was listening.

" Yes Granny, I am listening. " Mia answered.

",Yes my daughter. The only thing that has taken you is to work. Don't start going for the night clubs and don't drink alcohol. Always dress well and treat everyone well. Be obedient and respect your bosses. " Grace said.

" Grand mother, I will do everything as you wish. " Mia answered with a smile.

Grace smiled and said. " Good girl. Come here. " She said opening her arms for Mia and Mia hugged her.

" You do my dear. You will use it to buy some water on the way. " Grace said smiling.

Now Mia cried realizing that she was really going.

" Granny..." She called as she hugged Grace.

Grace hugged her back. " All is well my grand child. " She released her from the hug and said.
