"Then it's all down to fate," Jasper Bollock said.
"Colonel Bollock must be surrounded by outstanding girls," Amanda Jenkins comforted, "I've heard that the best way to forget a relationship is to start a new one."
Jasper Bollock smiled nonchalantly and retorted, "Why should I want to forget?"
Amanda was taken aback, only to see Jasper Bollock smiling towards the brilliant lights in the distance as he continued, "I don't want to forget."
"But didn't you say you just want to quietly wish her well without disturbing her?"
"That's not a contradiction," Jasper Bollock said. "Have you ever read a line of poetry by Elliot Taylor?"
"Which line?"
Jasper Bollock turned his eyes to her, his noble brow softening with tenderness, "I hope my love for you will not burden you, for choosing to love you means to love freely."
"Uh?" Amanda was astonished.
Jasper Bollock's lips curled up, "It's a line from Elliot Taylor's poetry."
"Oh." Amanda's expression flickered briefly.
