Darius's empty eyes stared at the girl lying on the bed. Her face was pale. Although she was still beautiful, she had no color anymore.
It has been a week since they rescued her, but she still has not woken up.
Aelin's ribs had caved into her chest cavity. The surgery had allowed them to retrieve the broken pieces of the rib and her vital organs seemed decent. Everything depended on the patient's determination. They had originally predicted that Aelin would quickly wake up but evidently, they had been wrong.
"There are no problems with her physical conditions, and after reading her previous medical reports, there are chances Mrs. Raynott's unconscious state isn't due to her external conditions." Vaskov analyzed. In this situation, there were two possibilities. One, the patient herself is unwilling to wake up. Two, the patient was suffering a problem with his consciousness and is unable to wake herself up. There was a common method for treating both possibilities: provoke the patient. When provoked to a certain degree, there will be a 50% probability that the patient could be awakened.
After administering a series of electric shocks without effect, everyone turned their attention to the method of a man-made provocation. If someone important to the patient stayed by her side, then it was assumed that the results would be better.
From that moment on, Darius has never left her side. He remembered Aelin saying that she does not have anything to live for anymore. Is this what she meant? Is she going to stay like this forever? Never waking up? Never talking? What would it feel like living in world without her by his side. Darius trembled at this thought. He felt his heart ached as if poked by a thousand needles.
He hold her hand and whispered, "Baby, please wake up. I am so sorry. I was unable to protect you. I was unable to keep you safe. You can punish me. You can do anything to me. But please wake up. Don't leave me, Baby. Please." He felt tears running down his cheeks. This is the first time he cried since he lost his parents.
But still there was no response. She still lay there, beautiful, just like a broken doll.
....
It has been two weeks and Aelin was still the same. Darius was on the verge of breaking down. He grabbed Vaskov's collar.
"Aren't you one of the best physicians in the world? What are you doing? Why isn't she waking up? If she still does not wake up, then I will destroy you. Do you understand? I WILL DESTROY YOU." He screamed.
"Sir, please control your anger. If you hurt him then there will be no one who will be able to wake Madam up." Qin hold him back. Darius punched the wall in ager, blood dripping down his fingers.
"What about you? Did you do what I told you?" He shifted his anger to Qin.
"Yes, Sir. We have destroyed everything. There is no one alive in that triad group and terrorist organization."
Darius's anger did not calm down. He just ignored everything else and concentrated on Aelin. His Aelin. His baby girl.
He caressed her hair then touch her cheek. She still looks perfect. She just need to wake up and open her eyes. And everything will be perfect.
"Baby, you are a strong girl. so , please wake up. Don't you hate me. Don't you want to take revenge on me. I will take everything. I will listen to your every wishes. So, just wake up."
Darius doesn't even remember how many times he had said those words to her in the last two weeks. He pleaded her, begged her but she still didn't show any responses.
"Baby, I love you." he kissed her forehead. Then, he remembered that he never told those words to her. And he regretted it. He regretted it so much.
