Problematic (Arc 3)

"But... I have to keep reporting my daily life to my Boss until he rules the world, right?" Feng Yongrui muttered.

The System nodded its non-existent head.

"Correct, Host."

"...But if the villain ends up ruling the world, won't that be problematic?" Feng Yongrui groaned.

"I mean, if the protagonist ends up ruling the world, I guess that's fine. After all, he's the protagonist and all... But if my Boss, aka the villain, ends up ruling the world, won't pose as a problem??" Feng Yongrui asked, confused.

"What if the villain ends up ruining the world or something? What if this world collapses because of him? I mean, I know that judging people like this isn't fair, but he still has the title of a 'villain'...." Feng Yongrui muttered.

"Wait a minute, Host. I'll go and ask the higher ups about this," the System said.

"Wait! How long will you be gone?" Feng Yongrui asked. "If you're going to be gone for long, then tell me, what should I do? I mean, I'll just keep being nice in front of the villain, right?"

"Yeah, I think you should just act like everything is normal, Host," the System replied. "Make sure that the villain doesn't find out that you're from the Cloud Realm. If your identity is exposed, then you'll probably die."

Feng Yongrui agreed. The System bade goodbye and Feng Yongrui took a deep breath. Everything was so complicated... but wasn't this the System's fault? Since this was originally the System's fault, why did he have to feel guilty?

Feng Yongrui decided that he would just enjoy his time here as best as he could. He went to the bathroom and fiddled around with everything he saw. Feeling tired, Feng Yongrui decided to take a bath in the big tub and refresh himself.

After successfully filling the tub with warm water, Feng Yongrui stepped inside and soaked himself. All this time he had washed himself with a spell instead of taking a "real" bath, so soaking himself in the tub felt rather strange and refreshing.

After some time, Feng Yongrui cleaned himself up and stepped out of the bath. After enjoying the bathroom... the next step was to... enjoy the bed!

Feng Yongrui flopped on top of the bed, enjoying the softness of the mattress underneath him. This was so different from the bed he had back in Xu Chao's mansion. This bed was bigger, wider, and softer.

As Feng Yongrui lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling, he thought about the protagonist and the villain. Last time, when he was reading the information from the System, he was so focused on his own role that he didn't really read about the relationship between those two people.

Also, Feng Yongrui wanted to know more about the villain. After all, the villain was actually his Boss--!

Feng Yongrui opened the information that the System had given him. He was about to start reading when he heard two knocks on the door. Feng Yongrui sprung out of bed in fright.

Who was it?

No, no... he had to calm down. Since he was in the villain's house, he was feeling more jittery than usual. Also, since the System wasn't there with him, Feng Yongrui was feeling more nervous.

But now wasn't the time to stare at the door!

Feng Yongrui leapt out of bed and rushed to open the door. When he stood in front of the door, he took a few deep breaths, calming himself down.

Feng Yongrui opened the door slowly and sighed in relief when he saw Cantrell standing there.

"Sir, the Crown Prince has invited you to dine with him," she spoke.

Feng Yongrui smiled awkwardly.

"Alright, I'm coming... Give me a minute."

Feng Yongrui closed the door and hurriedly turned around. He was still wearing his pajamas... He had to wear something more presentable when he was in front of the Crown Prince!

Feng Yongrui fumbled through the room, taking off his pajamas and wearing looking through the wardrobe filled with clothes. What should he wear?

This robe was too flashy... What if the Crown Prince thought he was too flamboyant?

This one was too plain... Wouldn't he look too servile?

Feng Yongrui felt like his head was swarming around with bees. He couldn't think properly, and his hands were trembling. He finally found a robe that seemed okay, so he hurriedly put it on.

Feng Yongrui was in such a rush that he accidentally wore the robe inside out. He groaned and took off the robe, intending to put it on again. As he was putting on the robe, Feng Yongrui tried to think about the Crown Prince.

What was the Crown Prince like? When he met the Crown Prince, how should he act? Should he be arrogant, flamboyant, and talkative? Or would it be better if he was a boot licking, servile, person?

"Argh..." Feng Yongrui clutched his head in confusion. If he kept overthinking things like this, he wouldn't dare go outside and face Cantrell--!

Feng Yongrui let out a shaky breath and tried to calm down. Thinking too much would do him no good. Instead... he would just go and meet the Crown Prince and play things by ear.

Worse comes to worst, he would just buy something from the System Mall and run away!

Feng Yongrui opened the door and followed Cantrell, who led him through several winding corridors and hallways. Feng Yongrui was attempting to memorize the layout of the place, but because they kept making turns here and there and because he was so nervous, he couldn't concentrate at all.

When Cantrell finally stopped walking, Feng Yongrui realized that they had arrived in a bright, blue-colored room. The room had blue walls, blue tiles, and even bluish furniture.

There was a square table in the middle of the room, and two people were already seated there. One of them was the Crown Prince, Chen Longfei, while the other was a stunningly beautiful woman with aqua-colored hair.

Feng Yongrui bowed towards the two people and stood still, not knowing what to do.

"Come and sit," Chen Longfei said, beckoning with his hands.

Feng Yongrui gave a polite smile and sat down. Now, he was sitting opposite Chen Longfei and next to the lady. Chen Longfei cleared his throat and began talking.

"Your name is Feng Yongrui, am I right?" he asked, smiling.

Feng Yongrui nodded his head. "T-that's right, sir."

"Alright... I know that you've been working tirelessly for me, making sure that various clans are willing to work for me. Well, now I have good news for you," Chen Longfei said, leaning closer.

"Victory is coming closer to our hands..." he said softly, a cold smile on his lips.

"Err..." Feng Yongrui gulped nervously. What was that supposed to mean?

"Thanks to your help, both the Vampire Clan and the Shadow Demons Clan are loyal to me now."

Feng Yongrui nodded his head absentmindedly, but suddenly paused. The Vampire Clan? Since when did he convince the Vampire Clan to work for the Crown Prince?

"Err... The Vampire Clan?" Feng Yongrui looked at Chen Longfei questioningly.

"That's right. Aren't you friends with the Family Head?" Chen Longfei raised an eyebrow.

"W-well, that's right. But..."

"Didn't you purposely approach the Family Head of the Vampire Clan so that he would work for me?" Chen Longfei looked at Feng Yongrui with his steely eyes.

Feng Yongrui gulped. No, he didn't become friends with Stan because he wanted Stan to work for Chen Longfei. He became friends with Stan simply because he was a cute kid... But he couldn't exactly say that in front of Chen Longfei, right?

"T-that's true, Sir..." Feng Yongrui looked at Chen Longfei's cold eyes and gulped.

Hearing Feng Yongrui's answer, Chen Longfei broke into a gentle smile.

"As expected... You're really loyal to me..." Chen Longfei chuckled.

"I never thought a day would come when a Nephilim works for the Phantom Realm... Since your identity is rather special, tell me. What reward do you want?" Chen Longfei asked.

Feng Yongrui took a deep breath. What was a 'Nephilim'? Unfortunately, the System wasn't here, so he had no way of asking it... But now, he couldn't think too much about that.

What kind of reward should he ask for? Actually, Feng Yongrui didn't really want a reward. After all, he was doing all of this because of the System's task. Also! He was supposed to work for Chen Tengfei, not Chen Longfei!

But... if he said he didn't want a reward, wouldn't Chen Longfei get suspicious of him? After all, based on the original 'Feng Yongrui''s personality, he definitely wanted rewards...

"I want to have lots of money, a mansion, and a title," Feng Yongrui finally decided.

"Consider it done," Chen Longfei agreed.

"As you may know, the great battle between the Phantom Realm and the Cloud Realm will soon commence. When that time comes, I hope you will stand by our side and help us gain victory," Chen Longfei said.

The Crown Prince chatted for a few more minutes with Feng Yongrui. Well, it was mostly a one sided conversation, since Feng Yongrui only nodded his head or agreed with the Crown Prince's words.

When the Crown Prince was finally done talking, Feng Yongrui excused himself and returned to his room, led by Cantrell. When he was finally back in his room, Feng Yongrui let out a sigh of relief.

Hopefully... hopefully... the Crown Prince wasn't suspicious of him...

Chen Longfei watched, amused, as Feng Yongrui scurried away from him. When the latter was out of sight, Chen Longfei turned to his mother.

"What do you think of him, mother?" he asked, smiling.

"Well..." the woman drew out a long sigh.

"He's definitely not what I imagined him to be," she chuckled.

"He's timid and not one bit arrogant. I thought that as a Nephilim, he would be more outspoken, more arrogant, and looking down on us. But..." she shook her head.

"He wasn't like that at all. Instead, he seems rather afraid of you," she added.

Chen Longfei nodded his head thoughtfully.

"I agree with you. Well, I'm not sure if his timidity is just a farce, but, if he really is timid, then he should be easy to control, don't you think?" Chen Longfei said, smiling.

The woman nodded her head. "Just be careful when you're dealing with him," she said.

"You never know if there's something up his sleeves..."

Chen Longfei nodded his head in agreement.

"Don't worry, Mom. When we start the battle with the Cloud Realm, I won't directly involve him with it, in case he has a change of heart and decides to help the Cloud Realm instead."

"...So you won't bring him into the battlefield?"

"Nope. I'll just let him stay here."

"Alright..." Chen Longfei's mother sighed. "In any case, if something happens here, I'll let you know."

Chen Longfei nodded.
