A treasure lost

"What is this thing?" he questioned himself again. He was so engrossed in channeling his energy through his veins that he had forgotten about the blood he had just splurged. The beasts in the forest were attracted to its scent and came lurking after it.

"RAwwwrrr"

A call of wild quite different than before. It bore its own fore bearing a depth that could shake the hearts of men.

A profound white bear drenched in rain had appeared.

Its sharp fangs screaming out its ferocious nature.

Yang Ding's eyes jolted open at its sudden appearance.

"Sh*t!"

He knew he had been careless, not used to his new strength yet. Due to which he was in this mess.

Picking up his sword, he made a run for it.

"This isn't a beast I can deal with having such measly strength"

It was a beast in the Ice profound Realm. Not to mention that beasts are fundamentally stronger than humans, to begin with, it was even several stages higher in strength than Yang Ding.

If he faces off with a beast like this, Death is certain.

"Today is my most unlucky day ever!"

The beast was after him. Yang Ding ran with all the strength he could procure. He even began channeling his energy in his legs so that his legs wouldn't get tired easily and he could run faster.

But the beast was catching up to him.

He unsheathed his sword and threw it at the beast like a Javelin aiming for its eyes. It missed its mark but was accurate enough to pierce it.

The beast roared in pain while Yang Ding tried to gain distance.

He didn't know whether his sword had met its mark or not. He didn't turn to find out only ran at full speed.

He has never felt so desperate before in his life.

The beast pounced at him and caught him by surprise. He was slammed on the forest floor. His head smashed to the ground cracking it open. Blood gushed from the forceful orifice that was just created.

Ignoring the beeps from the system Yang Ding cried in pain.

The beast didn't stop at that.

It grabbed his legs by its mouth and shook his head violently to tear the leg apart. Drool was coming out of its mouth, spoiling his clothes.

"Sh*t! If it has come to this, I would rather take you to hell with me, you vile beast!"

Yang Ding was pushed to the very edge. Now it wasn't a matter of life or death. It was more of dying gloriously or not.

He gritted his teeth and channeled all of his energy into his left leg. It got filled to the brim with his yang energy but he didn't stop at that and continued to push in more and more. The veins of his feet finally unable to contain all the energy burst open releasing all of the massive amounts of energy all at once.

Boom!

The beast's head exploded along with his left leg. With his leg no longer intact, Yang Ding was freed from its bite, and got tossed in the air due to the explosion. Hurled in the air he landed on his back.

And so did the bear who had lost his life the moment all the yang energy, got released in his mouth destroying his face and his brain in the process.

Only Yang Ding can pull off something so reckless.

Blood was gushing out his charred left leg which was destroyed.

Using the last of his breath he took out his dagger and cut off his right leg from his body. Tore his clothes to pieces to use as a rag. And then tied his wounded leg tightly to stop the flow of blood.

That was all he could with the measly strength he had left. He was slowly losing his consciousness.

"I don't want to die," he whispered to himself before falling asleep.

--x--x--x--x--x--x--

His whole body was sweating as he was convulsing, shook his head, yet strangely enough, it was only his head that he could move in his sleep. He had no control over his body.

"So you are awake now" a voice that was old and dignified entered his ears. The next moment he felt a rich supply of energy entering his head. The energy was so pure yet so dense that it immediately cleared his muggy mind.

He opened his eyes.

The first sight that he saw was huge silver needles embedded in his body. But, he felt no pain. They made his muscles relaxed owning to a speedy recovery.

What's more? After channeling his Qi around them he found out that they were pinpointed at all of his veinal nodes.

Upon shifting his eyes, he found a man sitting beside him, channeling his energy through his wrist.

"So this pure source of energy belonged to him!" he whispered to himself.

He had a long white beard that flowed enough to cover his chest. His clothes white and luxurious with a golden belt around his waist. His face though mature had no wrinkles and his white hair was tied into a ponytail.

"Who are you?" he asked.

The man shakes his head.

"You don't need to know. You are not prepared yet"

"Not prepared?"

But the man didn't reply. He just smiled.

Instead, he changed the topic.

"I found you in the forest lying beside a beast. Your left leg was chopped off and charred with excessive yang energy," he smiled again and then continued, "On the other hand you were bleeding profusely and had a skull cracked open."

The image of the events came flooding back to Yang Ding's mind.

He checked his left leg.

"It is not there!"

Where should have been his leg was now just a bump covered in white clothing.
