Beth woke up early the next day. When she looked out the window, a small orange sun was slowly rising from the western side of the mansion. She opened all the windows in her room and took a deep breath, inhaling the fresh morning air. Unlike in the lower town, the air here was not filled with dust or even dry.
As the cool morning wind gently blew into her room, Beth wrapped her hands around her torso, smiling to herself. This was her first day in Brooke Mansion, and she was already excited. She had a long good night's sleep on one of the softest mattresses she had laid on, and her body thanked her for it. She folded her sleeve up, staring at the thin bracelet with a smile.
