Chapter 41: This Is Probably Going To Change The Occult Clubroom Completely (4)

"What are you doing here, Ayane?" I ask.

"I--" Her ear suddenly turns red. She tries to hide it by turning away, but her other ear is still giving it away. "I'm really sorry for my rudeness. I just... I have to discuss with you about something, Sensei." Her eyes wander off from me, "but it seems I've walked in at the worst time." She glances at the two girls in the room. And also the mess on the floor. But she wouldn't be surprised by that, last time there was an army of mosquitos. Thus couldn't be any worse.

She's right, this is not a good time for her to be here. "I'm unfortunately busy right now with…." My eyes sweep from Remelia to Nelia. Yeah… I'm not sure what to call this situation right now. I'm busy with girls? Damn that sounds so wrong.

In the end I decided not to finish my sentence.

Ayane takes it all right.

"It's okay. I'll wait." What Ayane says.

Huff…

It makes me relieved that she is not going to make this situation harder, unlike the others. Ayane is a considerate, patient person who will wait for me 'outside' and I'm thankful of that. "Thank you, Aya--"

Ayane sits beside Nelia.

As if sharing my emotion, Remelia doesn't like Ayane sitting in here, "Hey," She calls Ayane, "Who gives you the permission to sit?"

"The gods." Ayane says, mockingly.

But Remelia has a little understanding of modern mockery. "Really? When? I didn't hear them. Or can't. Most probably can't. The god ignores us."

"..." Ayane, who has adapted of the room nature, ignores the confused cosplaying girl and pushes her eyes somewhere else interesting. And that sharp eyes happened to stab Nelia.

"Eek--"

Nelia who had never stopped saying things is now, weird enough, silent. She's been sweating profusely and scratching her nails. Eyes darting about the room. Now that I think about it, she's been acting like this since Ayane appears.

Ayane tilts her head to take a good look at the girl beside her, "Hey."

(u0v0) "Hm?" Nelia turns to her, trying to cover her guilty look with her innocence.

"I think we've met before…" Ayane's voice stretches through the past.

Gulp. (u' v ')

Nelia shakes her head hard. (^_^ ") "Ah, no. I think you've mistaken me for someone else now. Pretty girls are common nowadays."

Woah, she somehow managed to slip in a praise of herself despite trembling like a cat in the middle of the ocean. Should we feel amazed?

No one did.

Remelia slams the table, jumping everyone from the seat. "Right?" As she nods toward Ayane, eyes big in anticipation. "I think I saw her somewhere else before too. But it was all so weird and fuzzy that even my great mind can't visualise it now… Hm, maybe she was with a different hair or clothe."

As soon as she said that, a cloud pops out of Ayane's head. Her mouth wide open.

"Ah!" Ayane stabs a finger toward Nelia, "You were that bitch who stole Sensei's jacket!"

Nelia shakes her head as she bites her lips. "No no no, I'm no bitch. And definitely not a thief. You are mistaken! I'm innocent!"

Ayane appears to calm down, "Is that so?"

"Huff…" Nelia sighs a relief.

Ayane frowns as her glare tightens, "So you're a liar too."

"Eep!"

Nelia eats her sigh back as the sharp brown eyes caress her cheeks. Ayane continues assaulting the sweaty ears, "My eyes never deceived me. My hand never takes out a wrong life."

Nelia gulps. I can hear her eyes rattling and sneaking at me. "Se--Sensei… A bit of help?" She's crying for help internally.

I sigh.

"This is how we're going to do this. Let's just stay quiet for five minutes now." What I suggest.

Someone doesn't like the idea. Remelia's shoulder slumps down, "Haaa? What would we be doing in those five minutes of silence? Look, human. Let me. I don't need five minutes, just let me deal with this already."

'How about we get rid of them?'

Nope, wouldn't let you do that.

I shake my head, "Within those five minutes… just, take the time to think about what you're going to say or something. The point is we all need to calm down for now."

And let me process the situation right now. I need time to make the right plan for all of this.

Nelia nods, "Ye--Yeah, I agree with Sensei. Let's just calm down for now and think. Yes, think." She smiles worriedly, "I have to think."

"Great," Ayane says, tightening her tone. "I'll just continue staring at you until you're going to ADMIT yourself and confess of your wrongdoings today."

"Hrng…"

It seems like Ayane and Nelia have a story to tell. I shouldn't be worried about that. Yes, I'm buying time. Everything just went too fast and my brain needs a rest. I think it was the weapon breathing that made me tired and slow right now. It has been a long time, all right. Five minutes, five, are enough to get me back on my footing.

All right, let's take it slow.

See...

On my couch, there sits beside me is the vampire princess who's evidently been feeling impatience with my 'method.' She obviously waiting for me to give in the problem to her.

Problems. There are lots of problems in my life but I've never had three of them in a room. And the vampire princess, Remelia, with or without knowing herself, is one of my problems. Biggest actually.

On the another couch, sit the other two 'problems.' Nelia, who's pleading with me with her eyes to save her from death. And by death, I meant Ayane's killing stares. I don't know what happened for real between both of them but…. Hold on. Actually, I somewhat do.

I recall back what Nelia told us about the girl who kidnapped and tried to mug her.

I look at Ayane who's, with her eyes, making Nelia uncomfortable. Yup, definitely what she'd do. Ayane just has the 'if you don't give it to me, I'll kill you' vibe coming out of her sometimes. She's not a bad person as Nelia thinks she is.

It might be just a misunderstanding. Ayane tends to misunderstand things.

But I'd let both of them settle themselves. I have a more important thing to settle right now.

I glance at Remelia who's pouting at me.

She's really just taking this situation lightly. Or maybe, she believes, I wouldn't be able to hurt her.
