Chapter 35

Everyone was shocked at his declaration. All of them stared at Chad in shock. Did he just say that?

"What?!" Ken questioned in utter shock and confusion.

"You really know how to joke Chad!" Spark couldn't help but state in annoyance.

Things were getting out of hand with Spark's snappy remarks.

Gideon thought it would be preferable to cease their theatrical display as it could potentially escalate into a physical altercation. Though it won't be the first time.

Based on what he had heard and observed from Chad, it seemed that he was now getting closer to his wife, and openly admitting it in front of their friends, especially Spark, would not be of any assistance.

Of course, Gideon was glad that his friend was finally going somewhere with his relationship with his wife. After all, Charlie is one of the best women he has ever met.

Well, not everyone had this logic. Spark was in no way going to step back. He was fully aware Chad might pretend to love Charlie but the truth is he cannot look at any other woman apart from Marlie.

For the only woman he had ever loved all this while. Spark couldn't stand by and watch as she got hurt by his best friend over and over again.

It wasn't only Chad who was losing it but Spark too. He felt like pulling his hair in anger.

Suddenly, Spark let out a frustrated chuckle and said with disdain..."You don't even know the true meaning of love do you? You claimed to love Marlie but that was nothing more than a mere lust between you two!" He spat.

"SPARK!!" Ken and Gideon shouted at him in a warning when they saw the bloodshot eyes of Chad. Indeed, Spark was going too far. It was lame to mock Chad's love for Marlie when they all witnessed their process.

Chad walked slowly and stood in front of Chad with his fist clenched and gritted his teeth to suppress the anger boiling inside him.

"DON'T- DON'T YOU DARE BRING MARLIE'S INTO THIS.

NOT EVEN A SLIP. DAMN, I MEAN IT!!" Chad spat before moving back and smashing a flower vase on the floor in anger.

He swiftly moved back to Spark's side and growled at him... "LOOK, I WILL SWALLOW ALL YOUR NONSENSE BUT

DON'T YOU DARE MOCK MY LOVE FOR MARLIE. DO YOU GET IT, YOU ASSHOLE?!!"

He was furious to the extent of breaking things. And what annoyed him most was that the source of his anger was his so-called best friend mocking his love for Marlie.

Gideon immediately positioned himself between the two friends, Chad and Spark when he realized things were getting g out of hand.

"Stop it, both of you!"He shouted as he pushed each of them away from the other.

"Chad, go check on your wife please," Gideon stated and glared at Spark furiously.

Chad nodded gratefully at Gideon and turned to leave.

Spark was completely taken aback. For all these years, Chad had never displayed any romantic interest in Charlie but why doesn't he want to let her go? What has changed?

He is clearly madly in love with Mrarlie so how could he suddenly be attracted to Charlie within just a week after her return from her travel? Spark found the whole situation unbelievable.

However, he did not have a chance to pursue the conversation any further, as Ken and Gideon

suggested they all leave the house.

"I will never let go of Charlie, so don't expect to see her free!" Chad concluded halfway down the stairs staring at Spark with an emotionless face.

His face was devoid of any emotions. Not even anger could be seen on his face except for the coldness in the depth of his blue eyes.

"Your jokes are quite amusing, Chad. However, that's not your decision to make." Spark retorted, his words carrying a mix of rage and a tinge of jealousy, his confusion mounting as he tried to comprehend Chad's unexpected reaction.

Meanwhile, Chad stood there, his expression stern, gazing at Spark.

"We shall see!" Chad challenged.

When he uttered the words, answering the question of whether or not he wanted to divorce Charlie, even he was astonished by his answer.

For the year that they got married, he didn't spend much time with Charlie and the time he got, it always ended with him getting annoyed about the extremely naive and fragile behavior of Charlie.

He wanted her to be strong, to be able to defend herself, and not allow people to bully her. Maybe he wanted her to be like Marlie for his selfish reasons

Because of that, he didn't know he was forcing her to be someone she wasn't and didn't even try to get to know the real her.

He is now getting to know her better and also wants to know her better.

So it's impossible he would have loved for her before. It's just that for some reason, this side of Charlie makes him feel the presence of Marlie. It's a strange feeling but it's there.

Chad couldn't believe he had admitted not wanting to divorce her, especially to Spark of all people. But his friend was always getting on his nerves.

Heaving a sigh, he stared at Spark's back and apologized in silence...

"I'm sorry spark. I know how much you love Charlie but I can't let you force your love on her. She deserves someone better than the two of us. I also wish that all our conversations would be like how they used to be before this rival issue, Dude. It's just that you always get on my nerves with your unreasonable behavior and stupid remarks."

Chad rubbed his forehead in frustration and turned to accelerate the stairs. What else can he do except care for Charlie {Marlie} now?

He loves his friends, and if it were before, he would have definitely ignored most of Spark's remarks to anger him.

However, things are different now. What's the difference? Even Chad himself doesn't know the answer to that.
