9. Heart Attack

"Keith..... Your Papa... Papa is..."

He began to worried when he hear his mother sob.

"Mom.. Don't tell me papa has done some...."

Suddenly Keith feel furious, he thought that his father had gone too far this time and making his mother cry.

"KEITH HUANG!!!"

Keith was surprised that his mother shouted. Look like her mom is really mad.

"Keith... Papa suddenly fainted and I'm in the hospital right now. Sorry to interrupt your dinner....."

Hearing that news he become completely silent.

"If you're done with your dinner please come here, you can come to the hospital where you work. Papa is being treated now."

Without waiting for his answer, her mother hung up the phone. Keith immediately started his car and with full speed he left the restaurant.

Trying to calm down so he can focus on driving, Keith chanting his little angel's spell over and over again .

'Good boy, everything will be fine.'

For a moment, he forgot about his problem with Sherly. His mind now was focused on how quickly he could get to hospital.

About 30 minutes after, Keith arrived at the hospital. He immediately met his mother who was still outside waiting for his father to be examined. Kaitlyn looked tired and several times wiped her tear-filled eyes.

"Mom?"

Hearing her son's voice, she immediately ran over to him and hugged him.

"Keith... Your papa suddenly fainted. I thought he was just joking as usual but....."

Her voice was shaking when she tried to explain the situation.

"But he didn't wake up...."

Keith tried to calm his mother who was still crying in his arm. Soon the room in front of him opened, someone approached them. Someone whose he know very well.

"Keith... We need to talk. Mrs. Huang... Mr. Huang will be transferred to his room. I will discuss the detail with Keith."

After his mother left to accompany his father, Keith went to see the doctor who treated his father.

"Doctor Adam...."

Seeing a thousand questions on Keith face, his senior coworker explained as briefly as possible.

"There was an emergency case and I happened to be in charge to treat him."

Adam tried to explained the situation to Keith.

"And first indication of his problem is a heart attack."

Keith who still thinking his senior's word, tried to remain calm.

"Heart attack?"

Adam nodded his head to answer his question.

"We still need a further tests to find out the trigger. For now, his condition is stable enough. Would you like to do further tests?"

Hesitant and confused, Keith who was thinking again twirled the ring on his finger.

"Let me monitor his condition first, tomorrow I will consulting his case to Doctor Jhon."

Patting Keith shoulder, Adam tried to calm Keith, who seem to be having a hard time making decision.

"Tomorrow let me help you to talk with Dr. Jhon. You should accompany your mother now."

Keith smiled a little at his coworker concern.

"Thanks bro, I'm going to the room for a moment. And please prepare my father's report."

Accompanying Keith who went to his room, Adam noticed that Keith looked so neat. Well, although usually he always look neat but there is something different today.

"Is your dinner going well? Or more than dinner?"

Keith glance a little at Adam who still thinking to find a right word to tease Keith.

"For example.... A proposal maybe?"

Keith who was reading the report in front of him, paused to look at Adam again then sighed and continued reading the report in his hand.

"Okay... Okay... I won't ask anything.... I'll just wait for the gossip news tomorrow."

Keith glare at Adam and give him a warn look.

"Dr. Adam... Don't you wanna rush home? Look like you and your wife favorite drama has started."

Seeing the watch in his hand, Adam immediately rushed to leave Keith while encouraging him. And said that he could contact him in case of an emergency.

"Wahhhh.... It started 30 minute ago. Bye Dr. K... The last episode of Amy's drama is on air tonight. I've promised to watch it with my honey. Just call me if there is an urgent problem. Take care."

Keith only shake his head looking at him. Adam and his wife are very unique. They are a few people who are Amy's fans and they are part of that. Everytime they meet he always praise her like she is the best actress in the world.

He has finished reading all the report. He rushed to his father's room.

Arriving at his father's room he saw his worried mother holding his father's hand tightly.

"Mom?"

Still holding her husband's hand tightly. Kaitlyn asked Keith without even looking at him.

"What happened to your papa?"

He walking to Kaitlyn and grip her mother's shoulder tightly then pat it gently to calm her.

"From his report, there are indication that he had a heart attack and there seem to be a problem in his heart. So papa suddenly fainted earlier."

Keith has faced the patient's family thousand of times. But for him, it was still difficult to explain the patient's serious condition to their family who were waiting the news expectantly.

Especially this time he have to face his own mother.

"Mom.... Can I have a moment? There are some thing that I would like to ask."

Kaitlyn put her husband's hand gently and kissed his forehead. Whispering him a good night word.

"Good night dear. Have a good rest. I want to talk to Keith first."

Seeing Kaitlyn's tender love toward his father, Keith wondered what make Kaitlyn love Barry so much.

"From the report, Papa's first diagnosis was that he had a heart attack. The cause still require further investigation."

Kaitlyn was still silent.

"As far as I know him, I never hear he have problem with his heart. Are there any change in his diet, lifestyle or maybe he is using of certain drug?"

Kaitlyn thinking for awhile.

"You remember Karin?"

How could he forget her, he was the reason he became a doctor and left acting.

"Mom.... Karin is nothing to do with papa's condition. We're not discussing about Karin...."

Kaitlyn cut off her son's word.

"Papa has the same illness as Karin, fortunately he only had mild symptom and recovered before becoming an adult."

Not wanting to cut his mother's word, Keith patiently waited for Kaitlyn explanation.

"After Karin died, your father blamed himself. He fell into a depression. And your papa has changed a lot since then."

Keith remembered that very well. His father who had often come home late, starting to rarely go home. Sometimes he was just going home and working until morning and then leaving again.

He seem that he didn't want to be home at all. Then that scandal was appeared, since then, either to avoid a scandal being worst or as a form of apology to his mother, his father always took the time to come home.

"He attend a therapy at psychiatric. And since you left the house he often consume..."

Keith knew what his mother would say.

"Anti-depressants."

Kaitlyn hand were tightly intertwined and look very worried about her husband's condition.

"As far as I know, he hasn't used it for a long time but it look like he's using it again. Keith... He will be fine, right?"

Kaitlyn looked at his son expectantly.

"Mom, he still need further examination for a while. Tomorrow our senior doctor will examine him. He is more experienced than me."

Holding his mother's hand, Keith tried to calm his mother and reassure himself.

"Papa still has a lot of debt to me, I won't let him go easily mom. Everything will be fine."

Her mother nodded slowly. Tired and anxious look on her face.

"Mom.... Just go home first. Tomorrow morning you can come here. Let me take care of him."

It was hard for her to leave her husband who still hadn't woken up but Keith reassured her that his father's condition was stable.

"Your driver is still waiting outside, just go home and get some rest. Come here tomorrow morning and bring his things."

Kaitlyn nodded and prepared to go home. Again she kissed her husband's forehead and saying whispering to him that she will go home first.

"Keith will be with you... See you tomorrow honey...."

Keith walking his mother out. After a few minute walking her out, Keith returned to finish review his report.

Many things that happen that day took Keith by surprise. He still can't believe that his father has the same disease like his sister. And the fact that he had to depend on anti-depressant drug for a long time is more shocked him.

His head was full of surprises that day starting from the condition of his papa to Sherly.

"Sherly...."

He muttered under his breath and then sighed again. His head was already heavy enough from everything that just happened. Sitting in front of the chair beside his father's bed, he wanted to rest his head for a while.

As he put his coat on the chair, something popped out of his suit pocket. It was none other than the ring that he used to propose Sherly.

He opened the box, there are three rings inside of it. One of them is the engagement ring that Sherly usually wear.

"Eeeh... Why do you have so many rings? Shouldn't you just have two! One for you and one for Sherly."
