Reconciliations and marriage

[Taryn POV]

Two years, it has been two and a few months since I spoke to my parents, I have been doing my nursing studies over these two years. I have only two years left of it, and I will be a full nurse.

Conan and I are still going strong, I had never thought he would be this committed given the start of our relationship.

But we have been doing great, I fell in love with the Beckett family all of them, they are so supportive and nice, even my mother and father-in law.

My parents were great, they were supportive until a certain measure, but they were never this supportive with everything.

"So?" Conan asks, remember when I said our relationship was going too well, yeah it is too good.

"I don't think they would approve," I say.

"So, I am just reaching out to talk about our marriage and paying dowry if they refuse my courtesy I will not push."

Yeah, we are thinking of getting married, after two years Conan finally cracked and thought being the only one who is not married is not good.

Grandmother has been happy about this, all her grandchildren finally settling down, and I will be lying if I say I didn't cry the day he proposed, I felt so happy.

"Fine we can do that, but if they are still very hateful and judgmental towards you," I say.

We had made a few calls to my father's church pertaining to meeting him about paying my dowry, he then requested we meet us before the dowry payments day.

We decided to invite them to a restaurant Kaleah and Cyan had just opened, yes, Kaleah and Cyan have been doing more business together and they have been awfully successful at it.

"Hi," my father mutters as he meets us at our table.

"It is nice to see you again," mother says sounding worried, "it has been a while I was beginning to thing you cut us off."

"I did, just that my fiancé wants to do the right way before we marry so I had to reach out," I say firmly.

Mother is embarrassed by my statement, but I need to make sure they know that I have no plans to reconcile if they still have no respect for the man I love.

"That is good, I am happy he treats you well," father says.

"I am happy as well," I say, Conan who has not been saying anything squeezes my arm as reassurance, "so? What did you call us for?"

My blunt voice makes both of them embarrassed, but father takes a deep breath before saying, "we came to apologize, we shouldn't have judged your choices."

"It is okay, you have the right to be protective of your daughter, anyway I hope you are ready for my family to visit next weekend," Conan says browsing through their apology.

It feels fake, I don't think they are remorseful of what they did, if they were remorseful, they would have reached out first. But they didn't, they didn't care for two years.

"Yes, we are ready, congratulations, cannot wait to walk you down the aisle," father says, I want to deny him the honor, but he still is my father and he still raised me very well.

"Good, you can order whatever you would like, I am paying," Conan says.

We spent the night with the two trying to make conversations and catching up on my life, they sure wanted to make amends, but their approach was sure cringy.

We were able to have Conan's family visit my family for the dowry preparations, Kaleah and Cyan had supported me through it all.

I was to marry that man, the love of my life, the wedding day was set for a day just during my college holidays, so it doesn't interfere with my studies.

My mother and my mother-in-law were in charge of the wedding preparations and for some reason they got closer during the preparations.

My mother-in-law even helped me reconcile with mother who just missed her little girl and wanted to have a relationship with her again.

Conan on the other hand got closer to my father, he was just trying to make amends is what Conan always says, he kept apologizing for his previous transgressions and Conan believed him.

He told me I need not forgive him, but I felt I should. Afterall he was my father, and if Conan see him being remorseful, he is probably remorseful.

So, I decided to take them out for lunch, so we can really catch up and see if they are remorseful myself.

Father couldn't help but cry when he apologized, he knew he was wrong, but he was just so prideful.

They told me how the Cooks had decided to leave their church after the whole incident, to go to another church just outside town.

Mrs. Cooks had started spreading rumors about our family and our church, but they were able to show the other church leader her true colors until she was kicked out along with her grandson.

They have now skipped a few towns so they can go to another church, for people who claim to be saints they sure are not good people.

We talked all about my life and I felt happy that I was reunited with them, guess time does heal all wounds.

My wedding day approached swiftly, and I was so happy, we wanted a very lowkey wedding, not too glamorous like Cyan's and not to publicised like Kaleah.

And our mothers sure made our dreams come true, they had made sure of our themes, and everything was just as we hoped.

The girls decided to take me out for a bachelorette before the wedding, it was just a fun day spending at spas and switching to the club.

That was before Cyan, no Aaron who I had gotten close to over the years decided to make a stupid internet trend, taking pregnancy test all of us.

Yep, you know where this is going, three of them came back positive, both Cyan Kaleah and I were pregnant, at the same time.

We decided to book an appointment with the doctor for the day after the wedding to see if it was not a mistake. But the night had already gone downhill, no alcohol for us.

After the wedding all three of us went to get the pregnancy test, we didn't want to worry about our husband's false hope, in my case I didn't know if it was hope or fear, but we will see when I tell him.

Dr Martin was sweet about the whole thing, he was amused that all three of us might be pregnant, well scratch the might, because we were really all pregnant.

With Cyan being three whole months pregnant, like three months and she didn't suspect, me being two months, yeah, I shouldn't be judging her. Kaleah was only a month pregnant.

We couldn't stop laughing at the ridiculousness of this new development, I didn't see my period for a few months, and I didn't suspect pregnancy.

The two had broken it to their husbands and I think I saw Clayton cry, it was so cute and emotional the family was happy, but mine felt scary, my husband and I were still trying to get through college, can this be a happy pregnancy?

I decided to tell my husband about our preparations to go on the honeymoon.

"Conan," I muttered, still a bit fearful, this could destroy my marriage. I do want to keep this child but what if my husband doesn't?

"You have been a bit too quiet," he says, "what is the problem, getting cold feet? We are already married."

"No, that is not it," I say, I take a deep breath, "I am also pregnant."

I say he looks at me, blinks twice, "you are also pregnant? Like child growing inside you?"

"Yes," I say, his reaction was unreadable, he stops packing his clothes then looks at me.

"Are you happy? About having the baby, I mean?" he asked, I took a deep breath and then nodded.

He then smiled like a fool before hugging me, "I am happy too, I can't believe I am going to be a father. We will have to find out about all the things you need to do to keep going to college and I am sure we can afford a nanny on the last year of nursing school."

I felt happy, and relieved, I am having a family as well, a happy family, with the love of my life.
