Adrenaline Rush

They headed towards Joshua's home, Amara subconsciously glanced at him, he was seriously driving and for a second she felt like she saw him somewhere before. She tried hard to recollect if she knew him from somewhere but she couldn't keep her finger on that memory.

The car suddenly stopped dragging Amara out of her thought process.

"Am I that handsome that you couldn't take your eyes off me" he grinned at her.

"You look familiar" she honestly shared her thoughts.

"I am very handsome and I look like some actor is what I have been told by a lot of people maybe that's why you are confused"

Amara didn't answer him and looked out at the surroundings, the area they reached was deserted, there were few old buildings around but they seemed all empty as the lights of every house was turned off.

Amara's eyebrows reflexively scrunched as her eyes traveled around glancing at the area, this place was enough to give one creeps, it felt very unsafe and scary.

Amara was not scared but it made Joshua look like a suspicious person and she wondered who he really is and what exactly was his intention to tag along with them and insist on joining their gang, his skills were enough proof that he was not someone who can be taken lightly, his skills were at par with Amara, she had an urge to know more about him and her earlier thoughts of him looking familiar was driving her crazy and she didn't agree with his explanation, she is not a big fan of movies so there was no way she would misunderstand him for some actor.

"It is around 1 am now, it is obviously dark as everyone is sleeping" Joshua tried to explain why the area he live looks creepy.

Amara lifted her hand in air indicating he doesn't need to explain and she has a mind of her own, then she got out.

Following her everyone got off their cars.

"Wow are you all planning to help me pack?" Joshua joked seeing all five of them intending to self-invite themselves to his house.

"No, we are planning to get more information on you" Jim rudely replied, he already hates this guy and didn't feel a need to hide his opinion of him.

"Suit yourself" Joshua then headed towards one of the oldest buildings and all others followed him, the passage was very narrow so they all walked in one line.

After climbing two storeys they finally reached a not-so-decent looking apartment, although Joshua was wearing decent clothes this apartment confirmed that he is a poor guy, the first thought Carl had was he wanted to join mafia to improve his lifestyle, Joshua had the required skills and if he puts them into good use, he could actually make a fortune, he had the ability to reach the position of a caporegime, the one Gabriel, Amara's trainer holds.

Dan and Jim too had similar thoughts once they entered his broken home, the furniture looked all old and it was not even second-hand it felt more like someone threw this furniture in the garbage and Joshua picked it up from there and placed it in his house.

"Can't you at least live decently. Your place lacks basic hygiene" Jim taunted him as he was disgusted by what he saw.

Joshua didn't answer him back he just stepped towards the cupboard to pack his clothes, it was a one room apartment, the kitchen living room all were literally next to each other.

Vic felt bad for Joshua as his living conditions didn't even meet the standard basic lifestyle.

Amara was indifferent and she didn't feel anything, her eyes traveled around the room trying to memorize everything she could, she was hoping to find some clue and her eyes were searching for that one clue that would prove her doubts on Joshua are right and she know him from somewhere before.

"Do you really live here?" Amara finally spoke and questioned Joshua.

Her question surprised him. He stopped his packing mid-way and turned around, "Of course, why do you ask?" he again turned back and continued packing his clothes, what no one noticed was there was a line of sweat formed on his forehead as if he was a bit anxious by Amara's question.

"This place doesn't match your personality" she frankly shared her thoughts.

Jim, Carl and Dan were surprised by Amara's words but they too agreed with her, Joshua looked like  an elegant and sophisticated person, if he would have been wearing a suit and styled himself well, he would look like someone who belonged to a royal family.

"I'll take that as a compliment" he replied back without turning around and still focused on the packing, his heart beats were abnormal but no one noticed it as everyone's concentration was more on observing the house.

After calming his racing heart, he smiled at them and said, "I am good to go, if you are all done with checking out my house we can leave"

Vic, Jim and Carl observed every corner of this house but they didn't find anything suspicious. Amara and Dan just stood near the door and let them do their job.

After confirming they were done, they all headed out and again settled back in their cars.

Once they left the deserted town, Joshua sighed in relief, he was worried if there would be any mistake and his truth would be revealed then things would have gotten out of his hand but luckily his people did a great job and didn't leave any clues behind.

He decided to stop bothering himself with all of these thoughts and decided to rather be happy as he finally took a successful step towards his goal, now he only needs to prove himself and join the Russo gang, then it will be his second step to reach his target, thinking about his target he smirked as hopefully it won't be long before he achieves what he came here for.

He felt an adrenaline rush when he thought about his next plans, the road was empty so he glanced at the person sitting next to him he wanted to take a look at her but as soon as he glanced at her, he got startled, Amara was staring right at him and for a second, he lost balance of himself but the next second he got a hold of his emotions and again glanced at her and she was still staring at him.

"It seems the boss is interested in me" he finally found the courage to comment on her
