As Roland promised, Harper was sleeping in a separate bedroom from him.
She had yet to unpack. And that left Harper to stare at the empty closet and the white ceiling when she threw herself on the bed.
It has been a fairly exhausting day, but she couldn’t even keep her eyes closed.
Harper promised to cook breakfast the next day after a phone call rang loudly inside the room, disrupting the little challenge which Roland had started.
It had seemed urgent.
“He is the CEO, for crying out loud,” Harper muttered. Her own device started ringing a few minutes later.
Harper couldn’t help but smile upon seeing the caller id. She picked it up, waiting for the person on the other end to speak first.
“I love you, Harper!” Davis, Harper’s second older brother’s voice rang in her ears. “You are the best sis ever.”
Harper chuckled at his comment.
“I’m glad you liked it.”
“Like it?” Davis teased. “I love it.”
“Davis, it’s just perfume.”
“My favorite scent, coming from NYC.”
