Chapter 28: Kiel Confession

[ Last chapter for Jeanette's pov, here comes the exciting part. ]

He stopped the car and said that we were already there. I look around and I have never been around here so I look around and get familiar with it. I get out of the car and still look around when I glance at Kiel, I saw him giving me a soft smile.

" Let's go, the restaurant is over there, sorry we need to walk. I have to park my car in the parking lot, so we need to walk to the entrance."

"It's okay, let's go."

We walked, not so far because the parking lot of the restaurant is right under the restaurant. We walked into the restaurant, and just by looking at it, you know that the food here is expensive. Everything is organized and clean, it's a restaurant.

While I was looking around, a man in a business suit approached and spoke to Kiel.

"Sir, let me take you to your table, same as your request it's in the corner. Enjoy your moment sir, ma'am."

The man took us to where Kiel's reserved a table for us and he left.

Kiel moved the chair and made me sit down, I sat down and he sat down too. The menu was already on the table so we didn't need to call the waiter to get the menu. I looked at the menu and my eyes widened at the prices of the dishes.

Kiel suddenly laughed, I looked at him and saw him looking at me.

"Your reaction is precious, it's okay you can order anything you want. It's in me, don't worry." Before I even spoke he suddenly touched my lips with his finger and shake his head as for no.

I'm still hesitant to order because of the prices. I also didn't want to be rude to Kiel so I looked for the cheapest one. I found my order, I looked and asked Kiel if he finished looking for what he wanted to order.

He put down the menu and looked at me, I'm looking at him so we made eye contact. While looking at him I turned red. I avoided looking at him so I looked down and said,

"If you're done looking what you want just said it so I can order now. My god you're staring at me too much, I'm gonna melt."

"But you're the first who stares at me." He smirked while still staring at me.

"Okay okay just stop staring at me, let's order now," I told him while covering my face with the menu I was holding so he wouldn't see how red I was.

"Yes, darling." I glanced at him and saw him smirking. He called the waiter and the waiter took our order and listed it down. The waiter walked away from us. Kiel talked and said,

"Let's talk while waiting, shall we?" and I answered "Sure"

"How about the thing you said you wanted to talk about?" I ask Kiel because what he said earlier suddenly came to my mind.

"Let's talk about it after we eat, you might lose your appetite if I tell you right now." He said to me and all I said was "Okay"

We started our conversation talking about work, and he asked me about my first day at work.

"It's okay, they seem surprised to know that I am close with you guys," I said to Kiel while doing hand figures.

"Well, you know us. It's quite a lot of work for you that was given earlier, but it's also necessary because it's because of an event that's going to happen, they said, Angel." He told me that his voice was worried. I replied and said, "Yeah, I think so."

The conversation continued until the waiter came and placed the food we ordered on the table. We continued to eat while having a small conversation. We've done eating and I don't want to waste any time so I look at him and asked him what he want to say.

" Y'know Jean, I don't want to be straightforward forward but we don't have time now so I'll say it. I've loved you since college, I don't want to be assuming but Angel said that you have feelings for me when we are in high school so I thought this might be my chance. Kiel said with his eyes closed.

"Why? Why me? Are you delusional? You know that you are already having a fiance." I told him, yes I like him but I like Angel more and I don't want to hurt her even more.

"Give me a chance Jean, it's too early to give me an answer," Kiel said as if he was desperate.

" Kiel um, yes, I did like you but you know that I like Angel." I'm going to tell Kiel the truth because no matter how much I hate him, he's still my friend.

"I know, I'm already aware that you have feelings for her. I can't do what she can do to make you fall in love but all I want you to know is that I love you." Kiel said while his eyes were tearing.

I slowly wiped his tears and said sorry because I couldn't give him the love he expected from me.

He took my hand and put it on his cheek and said, "Please, just for a minute, stay like this." He said while whining and crying out loud.

I felt bad but nothing changed when I agreed if I didn't love him that much, and in the end, I would still hurt him. I think this is more okay and I want to protect our friendship.

He stopped crying, let go of my hand and took a handkerchief from his pocket, and wiped his tears.

"Am I don't have any chances?" He asked me.

"You are aware that you're getting married, right? It's only been four years, actually three years. This month is your birthday, right? You'll be 24, we're not kids Kiel. Think more about the future." I told Kiel to bring him back to reality.

"I can fight for our love, I can tell my parents. I want you Jean, I always want you." Kiel said and I think I'm going to cry too.

"Just stop Kiel, it's not going to work," I said to Kiel with tears in my eyes.

"Sorry, don't cry. Your make-up will be ruined, I'll stop." Kiel said those words in a low voice, when I heard him I started to cry. I can't stop my tears, they don't stop.

Kiel gave me his long sleeve polo, which made me cry even more with deja vu. Kiel calmed me down by patting my head and brushing my hair. I calmed down a bit and he invited me home, he said he was going to take me home, I couldn't speak so I just nodded.

We got into his car, and both of us were silent and didn't speak. We arrived at my house and soon someone spoke to both of us.

"Don't be mad at me, I hope we can still be friends. Sleep well, goodnight Jean." I nodded and said, "Sure, still, and always be friends." I waved at him as he started driving.

I entered the house and started crying loudly. Now no one can stop me from crying so I cry and cry until I fall asleep. My eyes will be swollen tomorrow morning. I hope it's not too bad I have work tomorrow.
