Chapter 5 The Sacred Place

"Teacher, have you heard about the tragedy that occurred in Tanbus State of the Silver Moon Federation?" Xia Zhou asked.

"Selena (Lady Starry Night) mentioned it to me," Bictris responded, "It's said that the entire state fell to ruin, with only the Resident Mage and Holy Place holding out against the demon onslaught. If reinforcements from other states had arrived any later, these last bastions of defense would have had to retreat."

"I have thoroughly studied this case," Xia Zhou said after a pause.

"The whole incident began with a pair of mages who were seduced and corrupted by the Demon Church. Both were regular members of the action team. The husband became an insider for the Demon Church first. Upon discovering her husband's change, the wife, due to her emotions, concealed the truth from her superiors and collaborated with her husband to gather information on local defense arrangements. If the wife had reported her husband in time, this tragedy could have been avoided."
