Storms were not the thing Bastian feared the most about sailing.
It was dull waters.
Even as the current disaster gathered its strength in the sky, Bastian refused to fear it.
A short event was doable. A flash of quick action and dramatic stuff, yes, that could be handled, but a few weeks of being without wind, without food and water, with a crew full of women who would understandably climb up the walls in a situation like that, no, Bastian did not want that. He forced himself to be properly Stoic about this and love his fate.
