33: The midnight Argument

SAM's POV

I suddenly felt paralyzed as my breathing suddenly halted just staring at the dark liquid on the floor beside the unconscious captain.

Is he dead???!

Nang maisipan ko 'yon, napahigpit na lang bigla ang pagkakahawak ko sa kamay nito, wanted to check his pulse before thinking the worst possibilities.

Don't tell me someone had attacked him too nang mga sandaling nasa panganib kami---

My thoughts were suddenly interrupted when I was suddenly shoved to the side then the bastard kneeled down beside me with calm look on his face.

This shit! Kung makatulak, wagas!

At bakit parang kalmado lang ang gagong 'to? Tell me he's worried with his friend please... Dahil base sa nakikita ko ngayon, he was very far from being worried!

I just glared at him while he touched the dark liquid with his index finger then studied it closely to his eyes like he was studying some gold.

Then he brought his finger to his nose then sniffed it like a police dog.

"Unfortunately, wine lang ito, Ms. Javier and not a fucking blood gaya ng iniisip mo."

That made frowned at that and looked at him in confusions.

"Wine? Are you sure with that?"

"Can't you see that bottle over there? It's just a mere wine bottle so don't freak out like a woman you are!"

Kahit gusto ko ng batukan iito, I still followed where his finger was pointing at and there it was, a now empty wine bottle just a few meters from here.

Gumulong siguro nang biglang matumba ang gagong captain na'to kanina.

That made me heaved out a sigh of relief.

"The idiot captain was just too wasted to even go back to his condo!" He muttered as he got up on his feet with his hands on his hips.

"I'm going in now."

Hearing that, I quickly got up on my feet and looked at him with furrowed brows.

"In? Then what about him? Kailangan muna natin siyang ipasok---"

"Iwan mo nalang 'yan diyan sa labas. He's used to that anyway everytime he wasted up himself. I didn't came here to babysit some idiot trying to drown himself with liquors. So just leave him there." He said then started to get inside his room.

My brows had almost overlapped each other at that as if he just want me to leave some dead animal here to rot.

Iwan?? Kaibigan ba talaga 'to ng kawawang Captain na'to? Hindi halata ano?

Quite against with his suggestion, I quickly blocked him at the doorway which made him glared at me.

"What are you doing, Ms. javier?"

"No. Hindi natin dapat iwan nalang siya rito sa labas, Mr. del fuero. Kahit na sanay na ang taong 'to, don't you think it wasn't good for 'your friend'-- " I emphasized the friendship part. "--na hayaan na lamang dito at mangisay sa lamig? You're his friend so how could you just leave him here?? Hindi ka man lang ba naaawa sa kanya?"

His face darkened in annoyance as his jaw began to twitch.

"Pwede ba, Ms. Javier. Umalis kana diyan sa dadaanan ko and stop lecturing me about how to properly treat my friend. Alam ko kung anong ginagawa ko dahil mas kilala ko ang taong 'yan bago ka pa----"

"No! Ayoko ko! Not unless you'll give me your rational reason why we should just leave this poor captain here! He's your friend, for goodness' sake! At gusto mo lang na iwan natin siya rito because you know him better than I do? Nababaliw ka na ba talaga, Mr. del Fuero?"

I noticed him heaved up a deep breathe while his face darkened more in annoyance.

"He's just drunk for goodness' sake so stop the nagging now."

"Exactly! Lasing nga siya at kailangan nating ipasok so he could comfortably sleep inside at hindi sa malamig na sahig na'to!" I pointed out with gritted teeth, ready to bit his head off, head that so full of irrational excuse!

He didn't answered right away. I glared at him when he just squeezed his eyes out while raking his hand through his hair with deep breath. As if he was stopping himself to explode in rage now.

Ah! Siya pa talaga tong may ganang magalit ngayon when this talk would've been done kung gagawin niya lang ang tama at hindi ang gusto niya!

"Again, I am his friend, okay? Kaya alam ko kung ano ang ginagawa ko, Ms. Javier. I am used to all of this at alam kong gigising at babangon rin ang gagong 'yan mula sa malamig na sahig na 'yan once he's sober up enough to drag his butt to his condo so stop this nonsense now!"

"Of course tatayo talaga ang gagong kaibigan mo because he's still alive! And oh.. How thoughtful of you to just leave him here outside. You're not making any sense here, Mr. Del fuero!" I spat in a short breath with my hands rested on my hips, quite frustrated with this impossible creature before me.

"No. He'll stay here and that's final! No one's going to stay inside my room! At kung gusto mong matulog sa loob ngayong gabi, then leave him here or you'll stay out here tonight with this idiot. Out of my way now, Ms. Javier!" He hissed out with finality before he shoved me to the side in a rather ungentle way saka ito pumasok sa loob.

Good thing mabilis ang naging reflex ko so I have fortunately balance myself.

This is unforgivable! Sumusobra na talaga ang gagong 'to!

"No! Hindi ko iiwan ang taong 'to rito!" I spat out in between with gritted teeth.

He just scoffed at that as he turned to my way.

"E di magsama kayong dalawa rito! I don't give a damn with you at kung anumang gagawin niyo rito! Let's see if you two won't freeze here to death!" he shouted back at me with his voice echoing through the hallway. And then with that, he gripped the door knob to close the door.

"Sana hinayaan nalang kitang mamatay kanina....."

That made him paused and then glared back at me. He obviously heard me mumbled that in regrets.

"Kung alam ko lang na ganito ka kasama, Mr. del Fuero, then I wouldn't have even thought about saving you when you were drowning under that sea.." I continued with so much regrets, wanted him to atleast realize that I was the one who rescued him when he needed help and that he must return that kindness now by taking his friend into his room.

But to my utter disappointment, he just scoffed at me without even a tinge of gratefulness in his face.

"Don't even think na mababago mo ang isip ko if you'll do that. I didn't tell you to save me in the first place, Ms. Javier so now, tutunganga ka nalang ba diyan or papasok ka na rito? You know making me wait is what I hate----"

"You're heartless..."

His brow shot up when I snapped that with so much disgusts.

"Bakit? Sinabi ko bang mabait ako? I didn't, right?

"No." I answered with a shook of my head. "You're definitely not, Mr. Del Fuero. At sadyang mataas lang talaga ang pride mo kaya kahit ang pagkakaibigan niyo ni Mr. Enriquez, mas pinili mong sirain ito because you're an egotistical conceited bastar---"

My mouth snapped shut when in a flash, he suddenly grabbed my arm and harshly pulled me closer to him and greeted me with his eyes ablaze with pure fire.

"Careful with what you spout woman! Hindi mo alam kung anong sinasabi mo at mas lalong hindi mo pa'ko lubusang kilala kung anong magagawa ko sa mga katulad mo!!" He warned with his hand tightly gripping my arm.

I tried to take off my arm from his iron grip but to no avail, ininda ko nalang ito and just spat back at him with same intensity as his voice. Not minding if our voices echoing through the whole floor of this hotel and waking up everyone.

"Yes! Hindi pa nga kita lubusang kilala, Mr. Del Fuero but I know so well that you are the type of an idiot that would choose pride and your silly principles over your friends! That was the real you and I don't need years just to know how heartless you are!"

That made him growled more and tightened his hold at my arm as he had pulled me more closer to him, causing me to hiss out in pain as his grip became more painful to bear. His dark eyes were now pricking needles down to my own while his jaw with some visible stubbles on it kept twitching like it was experiencing spasm.

"I have hired you to be my P.I., Ms. Javier at hindi para pakilaman ang buhay ko! At mas lalong hindi kita binabayaran to dig my own story!"

"Bakit? Sinabi ko bang i-hire mo'ko and make me work for you? Hindi naman di ba???! It was just YOU!" I lashed out sabay duro rito using my free hand.

"YOU are the one who had blackmailed me to make me work for you because unfortunately, pinagtataksilan ka ng mga taong nasa paligid mo! And 'YOU'--YOU are the fucking maggot who had followed me anywhere just to get me work for you!"

"And I regretted that! I.AM.FUCKING.REGRETTING.THAT NOW!" he shouted back sabay bitaw nito sa'kin. Looking like a lion ready to eat me whole and alive.

"At mas lalo na'ko! Kung hindi lang sana kita nakilala, I shouldn't have fell off on that damn bridge with you! At mas lalong wala sana akong ibang iniisip ngayon except my own case and not your enemies kept tailing your silly ass!"

"Then why don't we just end our contract here?! Yon 'yong gusto mo hindi ba? Then you can now go to hell, Ms. Javier! And don't you ever let me see your face here---"

"Mas mabuti pa nga!" Agad na putol ko rito, mirroring his own furious look.

"Let's just end this damn contract here! I shouldn't have even accepted this job in the first place at mas lalong hindi nalang sana kita nakilala pa at mas lalong hindi na sana ako sumama pa sa'yo rito!"

"Very well! Mas mabuti pa nga so you can finally continue your pointless investigation just to find that 'imaginary' culprit who had killed your parents that even a tidbit of clue, you have nothing with you as your lead but just a stupid guess!"

That made me suddenly froze at that and just gaped at him with wide shocked eyes.

Alam niya! Alam niyang hinahanap ko parin ang taong pumatay sa parents ko!

"H-How did you--" I took a deep breath and then swallowed hard before I continued.

"H-How did you know about that??! How the hell did you know about my case, Mr. del Fuero??! Pinaimbestigahan mo ba lahat ng nangyari sa buhay ko even before you've offered me this job? Ganyan ka na ba talaga ka desperado para gawin mo pa'yon?!"

My nerves were starting to tremble in rage now as I tightly balled my hands in fists.

How dare he!! So all this time pinagtatawanan na pala ako ng gagong 'to with him knowing what I was into! Kung anong mga palihim na ginagawa ko!

The bastard just mockingly scoffed and sarcastically smirked at me.

"Of course. Ano ba sa akala mo, Ms. Javier? That I'd just suddenly offer you a job and trust you without even having a background check on you? Huh! As if I'd foolishly do that! Hindi ako isang tanga para agad magtiwala sa isang taong hindi ko naman kilala!"

"Pero wala kang karapatan para pakilaman pati ang buhay ko! Kung ginagawa ko man 'yon, wala ka ng pakilam dun and just mind your own messy life. Just continue being a complete coward and live like a son of a murderer that you are!" I angrily shouted at him with utter despise.

The moment I uttered that, It was his turn now to stiffen just stared down at me with wide shocked eyes. Probably shocked with me knowing his secret---well, hindi naman sekreto ang tungkol dun. After all, his friends knows about it.

"How the hell did you know that?!!" He barked out after a few moments of his silence before he took a predator slow step towards me, alarming me and causing me to take a step back.

Shit!

"How did you know that, Ms. Javier? Did that idiot Liam tell you about that? Kaya ba gustung-gusto mong samahan ako sa trip na'to para pagmatyagan lahat ng kilos ko rito because you think..." then again, he took another step, causing me to take another alarming step backward.

Kung pano nya'ko tingnan ngayon, I think he's ready to kill me just because of what I had said!

Hindi ko nalang sana 'yon sinabi. He wouldn't have even gotten that exact idea. Shit!

"You think I have something to do with that, am I right, Ms. Javier??! Tama ba'ko that you were here just because of that stupid reason? Answer me!!"

"NO!!!" Agad na kaila ko rito.

There's no way I'd admit that to him!

"Kung anuman 'yong dahilan ko why I've came here with you, labas kana dun and----"

I wasn't able to finish whatever I have to say when in a single stride, he was able to reach me out and pushed me hard onto the cold wall beside me.

I grunted at the sudden impact. Then I gasped nang bigla na lamang nitong ilapit sa'kin ang mukha nito, leaving only an inch away from my own with his eyes piercing down on me.

"I have every right para pakilaman ka sa mga kalokohang ginagawa mo, Ms. Javier when I am the one who you were after with!!!" He growled out with eyes full of warnings, oblivous with how painful his grip at my shoulder right now as he pushed me onto the wall. I could even feel the side of my eyes began to heat up in tears now as breathing became hard to do now. Add to the fact that his face was just too close for my comfort.

"Stop whatever you have in mind, Ms. Javier! At mas lalong tigilan mo na ang pangingialam sa buhay ko because you were nothing but my P.I and just that! I've hired you to work for me at hindi para traydurin ako kagaya ng ibang tao!"

I just ignored him. And with bared teeth, I tried to push him off away from me but he didn't even budge at mas lalo lang nitong hinigpitan ang pagkakatulak sa'kin habang nanglilisik ang mga mata nitong nakatingin sa'kin.

Holy shiiit...

"M-Mr. Del fuero---" I paused then tried to push him off again while tilting my head to the side just to avoid his face.

"What??! Ba't hindi ka na makasagot ngayon?? Are you that so guilty para matigalgal ka ng ganyan and can't even give me a smart argument right now??" Irita nitong komento when I didn't continued to talk.

I bit my lower lip hard then never ever meet his eyes habang pilit paring inilalayo ang mukha ko rito.

This bastard! Kailangan niya ba talagang ilapit ng ganito ang mukha nito sa'kin?? He obviously want me dead on the spot right now with him so fucking close with me!

"Ms. Javier!! Are you even listening to me??! Bakit----"

"Ican'tbreath.."

His brows furrowed in an instant at that.

"What are you saying???! Nabubulol ka na ba diyan ngayon or you're just doing this on purpose to avoid being confronted??!"

"Ican'tbreath!" I spat out with short breath.

"Talk to me clearly, Ms. Javier and don't just grumbled there like some idiot----"

"I SAID I CAN'T BREATH YOU SHIT WITH YOUR FACE JUST A FUCKING INCHES AWAY FROM ME AND ALMOST KISSING ME YOU SHIT!!!" Inis na naisigaw ko na rito out of utter annoyance which made him shut his mouth in an instant.

He just blinked his eyes a few times and stared down at me with knitted brows.

CAMERON's POV

Hearing that, I stiffened as I blinked my eyes a few times, still trying to take in her words.

Almost kissing her?

At the thought of that, then my gaze instantly shifted to her pursed lips and then swallowed hard when I realized that it was indeed just a fucking inch away from my own!

Why the hell didn't I even notice this??!

For a few moment, I just stayed there without moving one bit. Just staring down at her with wide shocked eyes as my breath halted. Suddenly forgotten my annoyance for her.

Cameron, lumayo ka na sa babaeng to before you'd regret being this close to her! She's tempting you! My mind alerted when still, I just continued stupidly staring at her.

Yes! I should let her go now at lumayo na sa babaeng 'to! I agreed to my mind but I don't know why the hell my hand won't even move! It seems like it has its own mind kaya naman nanatili lang akong nakatitig sa mga labi nito and then to her furious eyes.

I didn't know she had a beautiful brown pools with her and perfect dark brows na halatang hindi man lang pinilit pagandahin. Her nose was small and pert which complimented her full lips.

I suddenly felt the urge to trace that lips with my finger, wanted to feel it against my skin. Then slowly, my fucking hands started to move to her inviting lip!

Holy shit!

I have weirdly wanted to do this everytime I was this closed to her so why not do it now. Now that I have the chance to do so.

I felt her turned stiffed against me as her throat kept bobbing.

Is she perhaps nervous?

Then unconsciously, my hands began to move to trace those lips pero bago ko pa tuluyang magawa 'yon, we were suddenly interrupted with a sudden movement from the floor then came a grunt and a sob.

"S-She's a lyin' biiitch! A lying biitch...." The idiot Mason mumbled before he sobbed again with closed eyes.

And just hearing him, I felt like I've been splashed with a bucket of cold water which made me let go of her like I was burnt with her closeness.

What the hell did just happened??!
