The night was quiet and dark

"You are here " the pathologist greeted

"Now, look at this," he said pointing at the dried up corpse, getting straight to business.

Vincent lifted a scalpel and punctured the corpse's arm, a fine red powder spilled from the opening, like he had poked into a bag of rusty sand.

"What is that?" Kelvin asked.

"That is blood, my friend. Extremely dehydrated blood right there." Vincent replied

"What could possibly do that?" Kelvin asked, confused

"That certainly is the million dollar question of the day, now isn't it? For blood to turn to a powder like this, it would take a sizable heat source or be freeze dried." Vincent said with a smirk

"The outside of the body would start to burn at such a temperature, but as you can see, no burns." The pathologist explained

"You say there was a naked woman in the room when you busted in?" Vincent asked suddenly

"That's right. So?" Kelvin replied, glaring at his former best friend. He was all too familiar with why he was asking.

"Was she hot?" Vincent snickered.

"I didn't have time to assess her attractiveness, smart a-s." Kelvin replied with a black face.

Vincent laughed "Okay, okay. But here's something else interesting."

He pulled down the sheet to reveal the lower half of Malcom's dead body.

"Notice anything?" He asked.

It was obvious, even to Kelvin, even to a five year old kid.

Malcom may have been dead, but he sported an extreme erection.

"Why isn't it decayed like the rest of the body?" Kelvin asked.

"I have a hypothesis," Vincent said.

"The only time a dead man has a hard-on like this is if he was extremely aroused the moment he died." He said

"Correct, whatever this mystery girl of yours did to him, they were having s-x when she did it. Pretty hot s-x, it looks like." The pathologist explained, confirming Vincent hypothesis.

'Uhnm! That makes sense' Kelvin thought.

The wings, tail and horns were at the front of his mind, however he wouldn't jump into any conclusions.

"Let me know if you figure out anything else. The captain put me on leave for a few days." Kelvin said.

Vincent shook his head. "I think you're fine. We've known each other since college, after what happened to Sarah and Mia, no one would be able to handle it well."

Kelvin smiled. "Thanks, Vincent."

Kelvin came home after sunset to his always empty apartment.

No wife to ask about his day at work, and no kid to run to him at the doorstep, he had learned to live just like this even though it is hard.

Clearing the depressing thoughts from his mind, he hung his trench coat on the hook in the kitchen door.

The kitchen lay in shadows, and the house was very quiet and dark... darker than he could remember.

He proceeded forward to the living room, sighing. But then he stopped, pulling out his gun as quickly as he could.
