He stood up and stretched his hands out towards me, I knew that he did not believe me, I only hoped that he would be able to get the peace he longed for when he let go of the guilt in him. I looked at his hand and looked back up at him, there was no hesitation in my mind as I placed my hand in his because he has won my trust, I would willingly follow him anywhere and I can place my life in his hands and not be afraid. I wondered where he was taking me, as we were walking I kept looking at our surrounding in search of the local herbs that I would use on his wounds. I also had to look for herbs that would act as a pain relieve for me because my cheeks hurt from the blows and slaps which I had received from there. If I found any that I knew I would have need of, I would stop him and pick them up. When he noticed that I was struggling with holding his hands and at the same time holding the quilt together while trying to pick herbs, he offered to pick the herbs for me and I direct him on what I need and the quantity,
"Do you have knowledge of herbs or you just want to try it out and see if it actually works" his expression was playful but the Same time open like he was genuinely interested in what I had to say,
"Back at the base, Maman was kind of our Medicine lady. Since she took me in, I shadowed her when she treated people and I picked up a thing or two from her. I have to admit, it was a skill that always came in handy"
I pointed at another leaf that was further inside, so he gestured for me to wait behind while he goes to pick it up. I smiled a lot at this period because of him, as I watch him walk ahead of me I was so glad I met him. I have never had a male personality in my life since I left home ,that I could relate to. I do not even remember the relationship I had with my older brother, but I knew that they would not have wanted evil or harm to come near me and they would give their life to protect me.
It was the same way I felt with him, he took me in and was willing to clash with his people and even receive injuries on my behalf. He finally returned back and showed me the amount he got, it was way more than I needed. I laughed at him as I removed some from his hands, there was no need for all those. With that we continued on with our journey, although we have not walked far, I could still see the silhouette of his people when I looked back but I was tired
