My New Life in TBATE

Decided to rewrite the Synopsis as multiple people now have brought to my attention that it makes it seem like MC will just follow Arthur around everywhere and that’s just not the case. Now the synopsis begins. Jaron dies and is given the opportunity to reincarnate into a world of his choosing with one wish to help him along the way. He chooses the world of The Beginning After The End. Born into the body of an orphan of mysterious origins, Jaron uses his knowledge of the books to help himself awaken his core early. He meets new characters as well as familiar ones as he learns about his own origins in this world. He comes to develop a deep bond with his new family and his priories shift. He’s no longer preparing himself just to face the future enemies, but also protect his newfound family. The Helstea’s Hope you enjoy, as I have enjoyed writing this fanfic and it’s changed greatly from what I originally intended for it. I want to try and add some depth to things we just really don’t know. Alright now that the summary is out of the way, here is what you can expect. Upload schedule has so far been fairly consistent with at least one chapter per day and multiple on my days off of work. I can’t promise I’ll always keep that pace, but I will do my best. Also I do not reread or proofread what I have written. I apologize for the many misspellings due to auto correct I’m sure you’ll come across. I’m no expert in writing either, so expect run on sentences and the like, but I do try to keep everything as grammatically correct as possible. Im not the most knowledgeable when it comes to TBATE, so I’ll mostly just be trying my best to make with what I remember. I may even re read the books as I write to keep it fresh in my brain, so if anything is inconsistent with the story I apologize in advance. Oh well, on with the story.

Princess?

Terrin was a guy of shorter stature as well as thin, his face was kind looking. A great contrast to the cunning and arrogant looks coming from the president and vice president. His hair was dirty blonde, long and swept to one side, a pair of glasses rested on the bridge of his nose. His eyes were an almost grey color, though he had a constant squint so it was hard to tell.

"I've already met Jaron, so Melanie can go next." The blonde haired girl from earlier nodded before looking at me nervously.

"I'm Melanie Velero, the Vice President. I was give the pleasure of preparing Tessia for the position next year." She finished by sitting back down, so I decided to stand and introduce myself.

"I am Jaron Helstea, future president of the council. I look forward to working with you all." I retook my seat and Clive took that as his indication to speak.

"Clive Graves. I will be the future secretary, you and the vice president can come to me for anything." He finished by looking directly at Tessia and only giving me the briefest of glances. It seems his crush has already begun, poor guy. Terrin stood up again with a sheet of paper and began speaking as he looked over it.

"The first thing in the agenda is more for the future candidates as it's to do with how you're going to handle discrimination in the school. We can't be everywhere at once, so you'll have to come up with something that can prevent or at least delay until one of us can arrive. How do you propose to fix this?" Tessia went to answer, but I spoke first.

"The answer is that we can't. Of course we can still come up with punishments and the like, but that's not going to deter the people who are against the integration. Tessia taking up a council position is a good first step, but truly all we can do is lead by example. Both in positive reinforcement and punishments depending on the situation.

It might sound counter intuitive to congratulate someone just because they didn't go too far, but that's the best we are going to get until they get exposed to the opposing race more often. and honestly in my opinion we need a Dwarf on the council or some other sort of position of authority.

That's why I suggest a disciplinary committee, that works in tandem with the student council. They can have a representative who is a dwarf, but the leader needs to human as well. Position of power but not the leading figure." Tessia speaks up at that.

"Are you saying the other races aren't capable or worthy of being in the lead positions?!" I just scoff at her, for misunderstanding, though I can't really blame her either. It's certainly not a fair situation, but life's not fair.

"No Tessia, that's not what I'm saying. Tell me who is the leading power in the Elf kingdom. The hint is in the word kingdom, meaning King Alduin is the true head, whether he seeks council from the queen or not. With that what would be the more likely scenario, say they had to marry and integrate with humans. Would you become the queen of the elf kingdom or would you be married out to the humans to become queen.

You would most likely become queen of the humans, as it's more about the view than the actual practicality of it. The public sees integration and progress, but on the inside you do nothing to help with the policies of the human kingdom. A worthy male elf becomes the next king and a female human becomes his queen, for the same reason.

Progress is called progress because it's not instant. This whole situation has nothing to do with whether you can or can't do something. It's about the path of least resistance, and while that's slight cowardice it's also the path I believe will meet the least problems."

"For humans anyway." She spats back and I grin as I turn towards her.

"You're learning then. Yes we are trying to make it easier for the humans because they are the majority here and it will be harder to stop each and everyone of them from discriminating against the other races. View points will not change immediately no matter how much you wish for it too. I'm fact it's would cause more students to rebel, causing more incidents which in turn will cause the discriminated to retaliate.

It's lot ideal, but it's either that or complete segregation of the school and then there would have been no point in integrating the races in the first place." She doesn't respond, but I can see that she's not too pleased with the conversation. Clive seems to be glaring at me, but the other council members are just staring in slight shock. Guess they thought we were close friends and wouldn't disagree with each other.

(Author's Note: I don't want this to cause any kind of debate or whatever about discrimination and the like, as this is not for something that serious. Nor do I think that this is actually the best course of action as I truly don't know what would be the best as America still discriminates between the races and that's been happening for sadly a very long time. Again don't want this to cause anything, but it's one of the biggest things happening at the school so it would get brought up in a council meeting. Hopefully none of this upsets anyone.)

"Well then, that was very insightful and I must say I'm glad that we won't have to worry with such matters after we graduate." Terrin broke in before more could be said on the matter and we moved on to the other topics. They varied from how to stop students from skipping classes, decrease the tension between battle mages and scholar mages as well school wide events that could be used to bring the entire school together in solidarity.

The discussion went on for the entire 2 hours with ideas being bounced back and forth. My suggestion for a school wide event was a school festival like thing. The different years come to together to put on an event for each other as well as the citizens of Xyrus. It promotes some unity between students and could also show the citizens how we're working together.

It will most likely have a lot of problems, but there's not much else we could do about that. We also discussed the disciplinary committee idea further and they said they would bring it up to the Director. The chiming sound of class ending brought us out of our discussion and we all went our separate ways to our next classes. Except me and Tessia walked together as we had the same schedule and she still seemed to be a little annoyed with me. Oh well at least I didn't immediately accuse my friend of doing something he obviously wouldn't have done in front of a whole crowd of people.

Well she hasn't done that yet either, but there's still a chance knowing her. The walk from the council room to our next class was much the same as the first time, with people whispering as they stared and pointed at us. However I saw someone that I hadn't seen in a while, one Kathyln Glayder. I waved a hand towards Tessia as I separated from her and I approached Kathyln who was walking in front of me.

"My, Princess, fancy meeting you here." I could see her jump slightly before turning around to me, with a faint smile.

"Jaron. I've missed you." With that formalities were dropped and wrapped me in a hug that returned. I could hear whispering about '2 princesses?!' but I just ignored them as I rubbed Kathyln's back slowly.

"Wow, the ever shy princess hugging me in front of all these people? How bold." I feel her stiffen slightly at the remark before lightly hitting my back. We're roughly the same height so her placing her head in the crook of my neck only allows me to rest my cheek on her silky smooth hair. One hand stays at her back while the other strokes her hair and I feel her nestle a little deeper. Eventually she breaks out of the hug and looks at me with a bright smile, though it's small, it's still a big smile for her.

"I hope all of our meetings will be that sweet, no matter the length between them." I said with a small smile coupled with a a slight head tilt. He cheeks tinged pink, but her 'training' of keeping her emotions in check kept them from going darker.

"I wou…-" She started to mumble as she looked away slightly, so I cupped her cheek softly and nudged her back towards me.

"You must speak up Princess, I'm afraid my hearing isn't too good right now." Her blush deepened ever so slightly as she looked me in the eyes.

"I said, I would like that." My smile grew and I dropped my hand from her face and her face fell with it as she stared at my hand. I grabbed one of hers though and feathered a light kiss over her knuckles. This time she couldn't keep the dark red from spreading across her cheeks and even the tips of her ears as I grinned widely.

"Red looks good on you Princess." She tucked her head slightly and put a arm around her shoulders as we walked into the classroom. I could even see a blush on Tessia's face as she had watched the whole thing.

"I'm afraid you'll have to wait quite a bit longer for Arthur to do anything like that." I said over my shoulder to her and froze before glaring at me and pinched my side.

"Don't say such embarrassing things, so easily!" And I just laughed, and I felt Kathyln tighten her grip around my waist with her left arm. Is that protectiveness I smell? Protecting made me think of the Dire Frost Tiger she got at the auction.

"Hey Princess, where's your bond?" She looks up at me slightly before speaking.

"Kione, is outside with Grawder, Curtis' bond. They are too big to come inside the classrooms, so we got them yard space that they could stay in until the classes we could have them in." I nodded to her explanation and I looked down at her.

"Kione?" She shrugged, it sounded like a good name for her so I went with it. I just nodded again as we took our seats, Kathyln on my right and Tessia sitting just in front of us. Our seats were located on the front left of the class from the teachers view. Kione really was a fitting name as it was the name of the goddess of snow in Greek mythology in my last life, and Frost Tigers are known for their ability to form small blizzards of snow and ice.

Kathyln seemed sad to separate even if it was just a short distance, but we'll be seeing each other more often now that we are attending Xyrus together. It'll be nice for me as well to see her often, as much I like my time to myself I do enjoy being around agreeable people. So far that list for people my age is very short, just Kathyln, Arthur and Lilia. Tessia might make her way up there, but right now we have too many opposing views. However that makes it that much more fun to tease her about Arthur when she annoys me.

Ah, Arthur. That reminds me that I can't wait to tease him about Tessia more as well. I can't wait to get lots of juicy material and watch him die inside from the teasing. Maybe I'll even introduce Tessia to Alice before he gets back. Yup it's decided, I felt my devious and mischievous side vibrate in agreement to that plan. I play it off as Tessia coming with me and Kathyln to meet my parents and then accidentally run into Rey and Alice.

Does this make me a good or a bad friend to Arthur? He doesn't have to be here to experience the embarrassment first hand, but he will have to come back to teasing from me and his mother. Oh well, he can deal with it when it happens. He's too cool for his own good sometimes, it'll be good character building for him.

The teacher entered the room as I was nodding to myself at the formation to my plan.

"Welcome back class, and I see we have a new face in here. Please come introduce yourself, I'm Professor Avius." Professor Avius gestured to himself before waving for me to come up and introduce myself. For most they would probably be annoyed and exasperated at having to give multiple introductions in a day. However for me it almost felt nostalgic,I mean there were times I might move to a new school twice in a year. Once it was even 3 times, and each time I had to introduce myself before each class.

That's because where I was from classes swapped teachers beginning at 5th grade and they would split to different teachers. Not to mention the classes that only happened once a week, like art, computer and PE. So safe to say I've gotten used to coming to the front of classes and introducing myself that it no longer brings that sense of anxiety and nervousness. Besides I have 2 people I know and that's more than I ever had before when I did this. The white cloak upon my shoulder also garners me a little bit of respect, so this is far better than my last life.

"Pleased to meet you all. I am Jaron Helstea, future student council president."

Author's Note

Bring on all the hate/corny/cringe comments I'm ready. Actually no don't I'm sensitive.

But for real, it was bound to happen again and I've spared you all from for at least 20 some chapters now. Now their relationship is going to continue to grow and grow. That's not to say anything r-18 is going to be happening as even with that kind of stuff being normal in medieval time I don't really want to write it until they are older. Besides there's really no need for it in this kind of story.

There will however be 'flowery' and vomit inducing cheesy scenes. Just imagine how embarrassing you probably were as preteens and now you're a reading what you probably looked like just a little more exaggerated and set in a medieval setting.

Hope this doesn't put too many people off as it won't be a constant every interaction thing, but I will be showing a little more of their relationship.

Lastly just wanted to reiterate that I hope none of the discrimination talks upset anyone, but it would have felt weirder if they avoided it imo as it's such a big part of the original story too.

Thanks for reading.
