She breathed in and out, trying to savor some air, she uttered, "I wish I_" She paused and tried not to open her eyes to meet, her best friend, Fennick gaze because she knew she might have a change of heart. "I wish not to have a mate! I wish I had no mate! I wish I won't find my mate and I wish he doesn't find me either!" Aurora swore never to have a mate when her grandmother told her she will die just the same way her mother died because of her mate. Every year on her birthday, Aurora visits the spring to say her wish (I wish not to have a mate!) When she turned twenty-one, she went to the spring as usual and this time, Sage, was passing by and he happened to be the mate she never wished for. He fell for her beauty knowing she was his mate but when he heard her wish, he left in bitterness. Why would Aurora die when she meets her mate? What happens when she finds out the person she took as a friend was her mate? Note: This story contains a lot of fantasy and has a different cliche from a normal werewolf book. Sage leaned on his throne to think. How could other packs have a specialised badge for those training for combat fight while their pack haven't heard of anything like that before? The former King Alpha didn't testify that he had seen such so why was it in existence? Was it newly introduced to the packs that their pack was lacking behind? But if it was eventually introduced then the Lock Hearts pack should be the first pack to know of it. "That means there is something we don't know about happening around us," Sage told everyone seated. "Or maybe we're the ones not getting the latest information," he added, still trying to find the real root of everything.
"We couldn't question anyone to avoid suspicion since they could smell that we're from the Lock Hearts pack," Rae uttered and Sage nodded his head.
"For now we've only got to know about the badge and we can't simply give up searching if we have to stop those assassins," Sage conveyed and they nodded. He turned to his Beta, "Did you visit any training in each pack?" He inquired.
"Yes, Alpha, we visited all the packs training," Rae answered.
Sage sat up and entangled his hands together, "Right. Did you find anything suspicious?"
Rae shook his head, "Although all packs had different fighting skills, we couldn't find anything suspicious."
"I think we need to find out their skills. Yes, we need to know what skills they are using to fight, then we'll be able to detect which pack they are from," Sage commended.
"That's a good idea, Alpha. I never thought of it," Rae said with shyness and all of them laughed.
"Of course, you didn't. You could have told me if you did," Sage said through laughter and when the laugh died out, he uttered, "Now, we've known that the assassins would be from a particular pack that had grudges against our pack or are just disturbing the peace of our pack. We need to find out which pack they are from using the badge and their skills but for now, we don't know what skills the assassins used when fighting. That means, we have to find a way to fight with the assassins again to get the skills. The issue we've got now is finding the skills used by the assassins then we trace it to each pack to find out which one is responsible for the attack," Sage explained, roaming his eyes around the hall. "We need to find a way to fight with these killers but we can't possibly wait for their invasion which might cause another attack on the pack trackers securing the pack boundary."
"Their marks!" Rae let out suddenly.
Sage tilted his head to get what he meant and when he understood he nodded his head. "Yes, their marks on the other shifters right?" Sage inquired.
"Yes, we could make use of their marks too."
"We can't get any of their marks any longer. It's been a week now and their wounds will have closed up, I don't think we can use the marks to trace them." He deciphered and Rae agreed.
Sage stood up from his throne and went down to the altar. "This time around, I will go with you guys," he announced and cheers filled the hall. "I'll beg the former Alpha and his Beta to take over while we're gone. We need to find out who those scum are and we need to know why and what grudges they are having for our pack," he divulged and a yes escaped from the shifter's mouth. "I want you all to go home and have some rest. Get prepared and in five days to come we'll take up our journey. You're dismissed."

After he met with the shifters, Sage decided to go find Aurora and tell her what he had decided to do. He smelled her that she was around the pack building and he traced her scent. Her scent led him to the field at the back of the pack building and he knew instantly that she was training.
From afar, he sighted her. She was training with some of her acquaintances doing the combat fight that he just finished discussing with his shifters.
Aurora also smelled him and whirled around to find him. She saw him standing some meters away from her and she gave him a smile which she returned. She made a signal with her hands for him to join them and he agreed.
He got to them and her acquaintance bowed their heads in greetings. He responded with a nod and unawares, Aurora threw a blade at him. He caught it immediately and they applauded for him. "This is cheating, Luna," he said and they chuckled.
Aurora took a blade and swirled it ready to fight with Sage. "You wanna try your skills with mine, Alpha?" She asked and Sage grinned.
He also swirled his blade and stood in a combat stance. "I'm not good at using blades, Aurora but I will try my best to defeat you," he assured, earning a lot of laughter from everyone around.
"Don't forget who I am," and with the word said, she charged towards him with full force and he did the same, their blade hitting against each other.
They continued to attack themselves but they were both able to defend themselves. Aurora used a lot of skills like sliding and jumping in the air while Sage used the race skill. He was fast so it was easy for him to protect himself from her blade.
The fight soon ended after Sage knocked her with his inhumane speed but before she could fall, he was able to reach her and held onto her so she wouldn't fall. All the shifters cheered for them and Sage waved at them as he pulled Aurora away from the field.
"You were able to beat me because of your speed," Aurora pouted.
"You are too fast and I had no option other than to use my speed," he said and groaned when she hit him on his shoulder. "This was what I was avoiding, you're too tough and strict. You could rip me with your blade," he grumbled.
Aurora snorted and pushed past him but he held her real quick before she could take a step.
"I need to tell you something, Luna," he said and pulled her to his side as they both walked back into the pack building. Aurora didn't reply so he knew he had to continue. He explained everything he discussed in the hall and Aurora halted when he told her he would be out of the pack in five days.
"You… you… are… you are leaving me behind?" She asked, staring into his face.
