Slight Lies

"You shouldn't have argued with Zev. He's childish."

Brian looked over at Jody. When he heard what she said, he couldn't stop laughing. Jody also laughed afterward. She didn't know Zev's problem, but seeing Brian ready to defend her made her hoity-toity! She knew Brian liked her, but unlike the men she met in the city, Brian was more sensible than them.

"His good looks hide it, so it doesn't stand out too much."

"Are you admitting that you're attractive to Zev?"

Jody giggled.  "He's very handsome, and that's why so many women want to date him. I'm not one of them, though."

"Isn't he attracted to you?"

"I don't like his attitude."

"But he's your type?"

Jody turned her gaze toward Brian. Brian kept quiet and said nothing until they reached Jody's classroom. Brian first looked inside the school, and Zev's group wasn't there yet.

"They aren't here yet," Brian said.
