Kross and Jody exited the car and went right to the side. They leaned against it while looking out Rupert's clinic window. Zev wasn't there yet, and Rupert was still talking. Jody inhaled deeply. She felt pain when she looked at John's face earlier. Jody thought of her father. If she had been able to do that before, she would have saved both her father and mother. Death won't be a big deal.
Kross asked, "Why are you keeping quiet?"
Jody looked at Kross for a moment, then turned away. "I've just thought about my parents. "I wondered, 'What if?'" Jody said. "If I had known I was special. If I knew I could heal and that death was nothing to worry about. My parents might still be alive."
"But, Jody, you weren't like us back then. What you're saying can't be true."
Jody made a face at Kross. "I know that so what is that wrong?"
Kross gave his head a scratch. "Sorry."
