"He wants you in", James informs
In hesitant she let her feet take accord in step to the ward.In heavy sigh she mask in her lips to a beautiful smile as he stares at her.
"You don't look good" she said taking a sit on his bed,
"you almost got me killed, do you know that" she grumbles out. She might not be the one to have gotten hurt but she felt his pain .
"I'm the one with the hurt but you're here complaining" he laughs with a caress on her cheeks.
"I wouldn't have died, it just a minor effect" he sooth in with a smile.
She laid his hands on hers, holding it to her face. She watches him stare her in the eyes, fading the lips in silence, leaving their eyes to communicate.
"Okay that enough you two, time for the mother to receive some love" Mrs Deen stalk in , evading their sweet moment. In deep sigh she stares at her son who've never involved in any violence or care about the outside world risked his life to save a girl. There were times she wish he could be more active and feisty but he stayed calm and easy, yet here he lies hurt.
One thing's for sure she underestimated the love her son has for June. Either way, she's glad he has that someone that pulls him out of his comfort zone.
"You know June this the first time I've heard of my son getting into fight" his eyes goes pleading to his mom to not whisper out.
"Really" she mouths to him, crushing her fingers on his chin. It feels great to know she's the first he ever stood up for or he got into a fight all for her. To her, he is now the happiness she seeks nothing else matters and she knows he values her the same.
"Um…huh..in" June's mother clears her throat attracting the glances on her. With stall legs she front to Dave that stone his eyes focus with worried heart.
As heard from June her mother is the typical tough character to work along with or satisfy. His forehead fronting the hit, of his inner body. The pain of his surgery is nothing to the drum of his heart in race.
"What's your relationship with my daughter?" Is she being serious?, Well kinda but she literally heard every conversation and could see her daughter's hands on him, the question isn't require.
"He's my boyfriend" June replies in aim to silence her mom from asking further questions .
"I asked him not you" she fire back at her daughter with a scroll of her pupils at her. Then face Dave with stiff posture.
"She's my girlfriend" he replies with an attempt to raise but is compelled back on the bed by June's hands.
"Ain't you past that stage?, girlfriend?. She's twenty four and you're probably in your thirties" she condems, in her eyes he's unfit for her daughter.
Due to her past experience she doesn't want her daughter to go through the same ,so she has to be tough on him plus the age gap isn't a smooth gulp down her throat.
"Mom, can you please not "
"Not say the truth, he's far older so he has to be aware of it."
"He isn't that old now, is he?" Mrs Deen storms in her son's defense. When she started with the questions she didn't want to bug in but that's way passed her limits. She doesn't find problem in her or complained about the age gap because it is her son's choice and that serves her little right to rub in.
"He is responsible and loyal and what matters is that they both love each other." she continued "my son is every way perfect for your daughter"
"I don't care how responsible he is or loyal, this is a concern about my daughter's life. I have to be sure he's the right one" her voice rises with hint of irritation
"This is my choice to make mom. I love him and I don't care about the gap, besides isn't there mire age gaps between you and dad?"
"And you witnessed what happened, he left with a woman more to his age. It was just a moment of pleasure and I won't have you go through the same " her mom scolds out.
"That was your path, thus us mine. And he isn't my father, he loves me, I know he'll never hurt me"
....
Thomas being called at a hospital by Liszt, rushes there thinking she is hurt or in a medical condition that requires a close one to be present.
"I'm pregnant" she said sending her arms on his body. He stays still with little joy to express, with thin push he pauses her body to a stand.
" You're pregnant but ?"
"You ain't happy?" She froze her tone in an icy bag with stingful glares register at him. She thought it should sort things out between and clear the bad blood. Ain't babies the bridge of every gap, but he sounds like a toad with no sound.
" I'm just surprise. I didn't plan for this" the words comes out in whisper with a drop head.
"You didn't plan for this but did I?. It now here we both have no choice but to take responsibility" she scolds out getting irritated. The nerves of him to say those words at her, she forgave his acts and returns all for him and he…
"Dad, what's taking you long" his daughter Beth comes out of the car asking, she sights Lizzy and frame her steps to their path.
"Dad, what's wrong?. We're going to be late for the family picnic" she informs picking his hand to the pull .
Picnic, that's the reason he's reluctant to acknowledge the pregnancy nor sent any spike of joy on his lips. She just left for two months and he has move on so quickly. Yes she said the byes but he pushed her, this time there will no byes or family irritate picnics. It her family time now.
"Sorry sweet heart but your dad won't be able to attend that picnic" Lizzy said with a compelling smile at display, while her hand reach for Thomas arm , clutching him away from his daughter's grip.
"Why not, he has to. Mom's waiting for us" she said, hooking her father's arm from Lizzy's grasp.
"Honey that because you're having a little brother soon, one who will carry the family name" she cruely breaks the news with a rub on her tummy, attracting Beth's eyes on it . Her lips smirk to see the sour expression on Beth's face, the sweet scent of getting back.
Honestly she doesn't want to be the bad guy in their lives but with everything and how heartless she has been treated she feels no guilt to any of her actions or further ones. Life has thought her to be imperfect, being too friendly and nice has gotten her no where so why act that role.
Her job was lost due to her too kindness but after getting a video of the so call young talent's intimacy with the director she was fired and the job is hers again.
Now her man is next, nothing's going to stop her from achieving her goals not even his daughter or hot ex wife.
"Dad" she turns her eyes on him with demanding answers, he couldn't, she must be lying right, answer me. Her eyes screams for replies, these days she saw hope of her parents reuniting.
They have been doing everything as one, her mom even cooks for the family, thou it uncoked and salted her dad ate the dish with no complained or let her mom aware of her lack of skills in cooking. But the news could change everything.
"What would he say dear, he's too overjoy to speak. After all it the child he has always wanted, a male heir ,a prince not a princess" she disturbly spits out with a wicked grin.
.....
"Are you sure I can stay here?" Samantha asks . The night is on tail and June thought it fit she spends the night at their apartment, with all the problems and dangers she's scare to let her stay alone.
"Of course, you're always welcome here" she hands her an extra night wear, the two are on thin different in height but the body stayed link smoothly. With smiling face she accepts and moves to the bathroom as directed by June.
While changing , June leaves for Dora's room, she noticed her gloomy mood for day but hasn't gotten time to talk to her with all that's going on. Inside she find her head shove in the pillow sibbing. She pulls her head up after a close sit by her side, without a question ask her hands goes in for her friend's body. Giving a tight cuddle on her cold body.
"He lied to me, I was just…" her running eyes soak on June's shoulder.
"It okay, just have it done with" she cools in. She's in tight spot, is she to tell her that she knew of his identity but what if that breaks her even more.
Huff that thought away' and she dies just that as her brain cautions. Some truth are best not said. Plus in her defense she knew no little longer than hers.
" He lied, that makes him a bad man right. I mean he didn't help you be perfect on your writing skills or gave you great ideas. Oh how about the company that signed your book, he definitely should have just sabotage your career instead helping you reach it peck." She coach in with her top self guilting speech.
"Are you on his side?" Dora barely grumbles out at her friend.
"Am not on either of your sides, am just pointing out here. He could have easily forced you into the marriage but he didn't, he first got to have you to love him and planned your dream to be reality. Everything he did was for you and I see no wrong in his decisions. So far I see him as the right one for you".
Why didn't she vision it the same way, perhaps the heart was just fill with anger and failed to see all he did to get her right where she wanted.
"I'll let you sleep on it, tomorrow you make a decision" she laid her on the bed then have the blanket comfort her body ,with a last night kiss on her forehead she dim the light and steps out to be greeted by a bump.
"Sorry" Jane dully said , dragging her feet to the kitchen.
She watch her grab a snack box from the fridge and let her hands do it's work. She directly realizes she is up on cloud ninty nine, she only eats late snacks when she stress or overworked.
"Can I join in?" She jumps in with a steal of the chips from her hand to her mouth, her eyes pops on Jane to spill her stress out. With little reluctant she sigh her butt on the stool.
"I just don't know what to do, I know he has change but I just can't bring myself to let it go"
"Hmm" June nods with a chew on the chips, she dupe in for another " what can't you let go of?" She ask aware to her of what she speaks of.
"The fact he used to date women older" she sighs trashing the snack to the floor. Her mind is lost in those thoughts, he claim to have changed but has he really ,what if he goes back to his old ways after she firgives him?. The brain is hurting the heart with it over concerned questions.
" He dated older women in the past so what?. Everyone has a past, he has grown passed it , that shouldn't bother you."
"I know but am scare he might just change one day and go back to his old ways" her concern voice cries out, trolling her fingers in her temples, her lips pouts to the glass counter with loose breathe.
"You never know until you give it a try. If we keep worrying and predicting the future the we would stop taking chances or living on. The future is meant to be a surprise package , that's what makes life interesting" she said cuddling Jane's head.
"just ask yourself do you love him and if yes then decide on it. Good night" with a snatch of the snack packet she leaves for her room.
Inside, Samantha is in the night grown, ready for a jump on the bed. She snaps in with a grin of how fit it suits on, she never thought the feeling would be this good of having another to share things with.
"It looks good on you, want some snacks" she toast it to her.
"How are your friends doing?, I noticed their gloomy moods" she sends her body on the bed, glancing at her sister wrapping her hair for the night wear and joins her in bed.
"They'll be fine by morning"
"How was it living with your mom?" June bluntly ask with concern. She barely spoke about her mother and she's just curious to learn more about her.
"Nice, she was the best" her eyes lit on the memories of her mother. She might have been a bad person to others but to her she was the best mother she could ever ask for, she loved and cared for her, her every pain worried her mother.
"She used to cry everytime I got hurt and would kiss me to ease my pain. Her mash potatoes were the best and.." she halt on seeing June's dull mood.
It must have been the opposite for her, she grew up in love while she craved for it.
"I'm sorry to.."
"I'm not offended, I just envy your childhood" she honestly let out with a grin.
" The most of what I had were maids that kept changing like my closet. But am good now, at least it taught me to be independent" she coach in with a pinch on Samantha's sides. The next she grabs a pillow and sends it at her.
"Whoa, you're on" she cracks out sending her a pillow she picked. The room soon crowds with their laughter's, while their faces bounces on the bed with every dodge and send of their turns.
The night dies with them laying on their backs and chatting themselves to sleep.
…..
"I want to propose to June" Dave said capturing the gasp of her mother and James with her tough mother in law that happens to walk in on the words.
