Point of Origin

Chapter 1

"F@#k" were the words I uttered as I watched the guy of my dreams die in my arms.

Normally you'd expect this story to start with me in bed or something like that but that's not the case here, this story is one like none you've ever read before, not that I'd know what you've read before but just bear with me.

It starts in the earlier hours of the day, on my bed as I hug my pillow with as much strength as my arms will allow. while dreaming about him, I don't know his name but at the same time I do, I don't know what he looks like but I know I want him. he holds me in his arms, pulls me closer and looks deep through the windows of my soul, I can't take it anymore. I lean in for a kiss and wow his lips tastes like spice. I want him more, I enjoy it with every ounce of my being, then I hear my name, and the fun is ruined.

" Lilith ", And i am brought back to reality, with a look that screams " kill me now ". I awaken from Lalaland, I jump from my bedding and sluggishly make my way to the door. I open the door and standing behind it like a creature from a kids folklore, my mother, Abigail, with a look on her face that says " do you want to die ". she asks that I get to work. I give her the mornings greetings but she replies with " you've overslept like you always do ". I greet my grandmother and with haste I make my way to the pigsty to clean and feed the pigs, a process I'll repeat with the sheep's and horses, yes, we own pigs, horses and sheeps. in a little over an hour I finish the chores and make my way back to the house for breakfast, as I get closer to the house I can hear someone chattering with my mother about the months hunting party. just so you know the hunting party is a system our village uses to maximize hunting efficiency while also reducing the likelihood of casualties during the hunt, this includes our hunting grounds and route. According to whoever I'm eavesdropping on, the months hunting party will be organized through a contest of strength which is being held at the village square. I know you can't see me but I'd like to think I'm pretty physically gifted, cause I am.

Unable to contain the excitement i make for the village square, I get there in a little over eight minutes and quickly make my way to the participants registry. while in line, I hear a snarky comment from the next queue, on my being a girl and for the love of something I resist the urge to shove this person somewhere. I take a long look at his face and decide to ignore him. it's finally my turn and the nice lady at the register asks why I want to participate, and I jokingly tell her " no comment ". she looks at me and with the strangest smile in all the realms, she gives me a ticket number " 7 " and tells me not to lose it as it's my contestant Identification and to wait near the arena, which I do.

A few moments go by and it's finally my turn to throwdown, I couldn't wait any longer. my opponent is called in as well and what do you know, to my surprise it's snarky comments guy, other than the meat delivery man I've never been so happy to see a guy in my life, I honestly can't wait to f@#k him up. he starts saying something and bragging and I start to zone out cause of his bullsh*t, the referee gives the green light and before I know it, snarky comments guy lands a punch right on my chin. the first thought that crosses my mind is that he's not holding anything back, the second is that he can even throw a punch, I pegged him for the weak type, my bad I guess. he's seems to be just as shocked to see that his punch didn't do anything to me, and he starts yapping about how he's going to win because he's a man and I'll lose because I'm a woman, this infuriates me. so I grab him by the neck and slam him face first into the solid rock beneath our feet, he lays almost lifeless as I'm declared winner of our bout.

everyone seems shocked to see me win so effortlessly, they damn near water me down with their eyes and murmurs. I hear someone in the crowd say

" I'm sure he's strong, she must have promised him something if he let her win, I wonder what it is ".

I walk out the arena with nothing but disgust and hate. I personally don't know why, but since I was a kid I've always been strong, in my mother's words " too strong for a girl ". my grandma once explained it to me but I couldn't give a cr@p at the time, cause I was more worried about getting out of the house and playing with other kids.

though I vaguely remember something about bloodline and a family tree or something.

I sit down with the other winners, then the next bout starts and there he is, " isol ". not to be cliche or anything but he is pretty dreamy, every sane girl in the village also thinks the same thing.

girls cheer and chant his name as he makes his way into the arena, and I start to wonder if he saw my match and what he thinks of me " does he think I'm strong, did I impress him, does he like me ". with the bombardment of thoughts crossing my mind I nearly shortcircuit my brain cause I'm obsessed with him, I'll never show it but yes, what girl doesn't have a guy they drool over, don't judge me.

he wins his match just as easily as the next guy " me ", cause why not. and he seems to be walking in my direction," oh my goodness, could it be, am I finally on his radar ", I think to myself and with eyes that seem to be as bright as the morning star, he asks if he can sit with me, and faster than he can complete his sentence I respond with a yes. he sits beside me and God damn it I nearly go blind from looking at his eyes for too long.

the contest comes to an end and the results are out, everyone who won their bout is called to the arena as the months hunting party, well everyone except me of course, when has anything ever gone my way.
