Chapter 4: Out

I took the vacuum into Faye's room and began to vacuum as she screamed at my Dad. When I was done I emptied it and placed it in our broom closet. I picked up the phone and ordered 4 pepperoni pizzas a plain cheese and garlic butter bread sticks. I knew they where my Mom's favorite, and hopefully it would cheer her up.

I went back and almost passed her room when I heard my sister say something unforgivable. "I am leaving here to find my real family." I snarled and ripped the door off its hinges. "Stop it Faye. Everyone has had enough. Poor Mom is crying about what you said, and now Dad is standing here listening to you spew bullshit. We are a family so for one second stop thinking about yourself and how pink your lipstick is and shut the hell up." My Dad walked over to me with his hands up. "Paisley please calm down." I looked down to see my nails had turned into claws.

"She's a freaking monster!" Yelled Faye as she tumbled back and sat wide eyed. My Dad shook his head. "No she's a werewolf, and your sister." Faye shook her head and tossed a picture of us that was on her bookshelf. "No I was lied to for sixteen years." Faye yelled and I snarled at her. My Dad blocked my view. "I got it Paise, go sit with your mom." I shook my head the door still in my hand. I dropped in and pushed by my Dad. "I was lied to also Faye and I am not being a stuck up bitch about it." She shrugged and started throwing books. "Well at least you got powers! All I got was a freakish family." I restored my center and took calming breaths.

"Why can't you just be happy for me? Why is it always poor you? You think I like having you point and sneer at me in school?" Her face dropped and then I saw the fire come back into her eyes. "Do you think I like having a geeky smart looser sister? Do you think it makes me look better when you wear feather clips in your hair, or wear kimonos and shorts? Eww, you are a loser Paisley." I shook my head and she pushed up against me. I saw my Dad out of the corner of my eye coming at us, but I put up my hand to let him know I was okay.

"Why do you think I moved out of that bedroom? I did it to get away from you! And now finally you will graduate in what another month? Then I'll have this town to myself for two hole years, and after that I'll be the one going away to college." She smiled and bent down in my face. "You are nothing but a dog now." She whispered and backed off. "I may be a dog, but at least I'm not a slimey snake." I said as she turned away a second before turning back. "Dogs are loyal and loving, they wait by the door for people to come home. They love each other and humans equally. Snakes slither alone, and that's what you are doing. Slithering into a hole."

My Dad was no longer there when I walked out leaving her broken door leaned on the wall. I was so mad I walked to the kitchen. My Mom opened the door. "Wanna go for a run." I nodded and we stripped on the back porch. We ran together and we played as wolves. Surprisingly we where about the same size and she nipped at my feet. I laughed as I pulled away from her and licked her nose as she dipped to try and trip me. We ran all the way to the cliffs and sat as wolves to stay warm.

"Did I ever tell you that your Aunt Valor saved your Dad here?" She asked as she put her head over mine. "No Why would he swim out here? There's a lot of rocks down there." I felt her cheeks lift and I knew she was smiling. "He bet against Uncle Jacob; if your Dad won then he had to back off Aunt Valor, and if Uncle Jacob won he'd get a single date with her." She laughed, and nuzzled her nose in me.

"Did dad know he was a werewolf?" She let out a little giggle in my head. "Yes he knew and was turned a few days later." I shook my head and wagged my tail. "Well then what happened?" She put her paw over me to pull me in closer. "Your Aunt found out about it having no idea that Uncle Jacob was a werewolf at the time and demanded they stop. So your Uncle said he would if she would go on a date with him." The wind picked up slightly as the waves crashed against the cliffs. "And what happened?" She pulled away to look down on me. "She refused, she told him she wasn't a piece of meat. So they surfed. Your Dad went first and had gotten his cord wrapped around a rock. He went under and hit his head. Your Aunt didn't miss a best as she dove into the water to save him. She pulled him up and Mark and Mike helped her oit there on the small Plat form." She nodded to the long plateau sticking out further then all the rest. "She turned to yell, but Jacob had already stood on his board and ended up wrecking in the same spot. He went down of course and your Aunt panicked she rushed back in to help him. A wave hit and he accidentally knocked the wind out of her. He gave her air, and acted as a shield as the waves beat them down, and she yelled at them afterwards." I smiled knowing thay was definitely something she would do.

"Mom why are you telling me this story and not a story about how you and Dad met?" She let out a deep breath. "I told you this because you are so much like Valor and your Dad. You are kind, compassionate, fun, and you love the ocean just as much if not more." I nodded and licked her face. "I'm like you too you know? I am smart, and can focus through anything, I'm a messy cook, I have your nose, and I love to read. I have a hard work ethic especially when it comes to school and I am very petite." I lowered my head and she let out a calming purr almost like a cat. "So you are a smidgen like me." We laughed as she got up. "Come on let's go back, your Dad needs a chance to run tonight too."

We took off back down to our red home to see Oliver sitting out back. He held up a robe for me and I changed slipping it on over my back. I tied it in enough time to see my Dad had done the same for her. "Thanks Dad." He nodded and looked back to the house. "Go ahead and run, if you want take Mom. I'll bundle up and sit here and wait. My mom jumped excitedly. "Our first run together in a while, what do you say babe?" He nodded and my mom had already slipped the robe off. "If you need us just call if you know what I mean. The pizza is on the counter." I smiled and nodded before going inside to grab Dad's robe, a blanket, and some pizza.

While in there I decided to make some hot chocolate for them and myself. I poured some in Mom's cup and some in Dad's before pouring a cup for myself. I listened to my sister turn on her music and sneak out of her window as I cuddled into the blanket. "Dad I hate to bother you, but Faye is sneaking out." He grumbled a let her go before I dropped the link.
