Chapter 28: New Plan

A mind like pulled me from my sleep on the plane. "Wherever you are don't go home. My parents are there." Jackson's voice rang. "I can't go home, can't stay in Ireland now that I am a fugitive." I took a sip of water and made my way to the bathroom. I looked a wreck. "Leave me a trail and I'll find you." I laughed and let my hair down. "So you can stand there and sell me out again? No thanks." I washed my face and went to the bathroom. As I washed my hands he broke through again. "It wasn't supposed to go down like that. We agreed to let you out before you murdered my grandfather."

I stepped back into the hallway and made my way back to my seat. "I didn't, he was poisoned, and I would have been too if I ate the apple provided by your guards." He huffed and I could feel his frustration rising. "Apples and poison is a woman's way to kill someone... You think my Mother planned this all? You're crazy." Crazy? This man just called me crazy I let out a half laugh. "No I think you Father set up a no loose situation. We both died or the other would be killed for killing the other. I have never lied to you and the fact you think I'm crazy just boggles my mind. You are the one that brought us there. You told your Dad I took from you and that is not true. You could have done anything, explained, stopped the guards, came with me... but you didn't."

I cut the line and held my head as it pounded. Why can't anything ever be simple. "If I did do something it would be wishing I never met you." My heart cracked and I sent him one last message knowing it was going to hurt like hell. "I Paisley Rae Sterling of the Beach Wolves reject you Prince or No Prince of Ireland.." His vice raged through the line. "Don't you dare! I will fix this Paisley." I let out a breath of air and tears gathered in my eyes. "I'll fix it! I swear." I nodded and looked down. As my stomach flipped.

I braced for pain as he sent a scream down the line, but one never came. "Give me a week." He roared and I cut the line again. "I am so done." I whispered not knowing what was going to happen." I turned to the man sitting next to me. "Sir when we land do you mind if I use your phone to call my Mom?" He smiled and nodded as his reading glasses slipped from his nose. "Dear you can use it when we land. Are you okay?"

I nodded and he removed his glasses. "As a Father of four girls I have to say you don't look that well. Why don't you ring your Mom and then come clean up at my house before you go." He smiled and I tried to read him. My ring did not glow and so I nodded. "That would be amazing, it's been a while since I've seen her." He smiled and turned back to his book and sliding a marker inside. "My name is Rupert Dright and I am a Science teacher." As we landed I grabbed my things and helped the man out.

I followed him to a small red car and climbed in the front seat. The drive was a short throaty mixtures and he handed me the phone. I dialed my Aunt Valor. "Hey Mini. Are you safe?" Hesring her voice had me calm. "Yeah I am fine. I think I maybe carrying and I'm freaking out." Her voice got small. "Okay lay low, sending you some money to set up somewhere till it cools down."

I nodded and she hung up. I handed back his phone and handed it back to him. "Thanks, but it looks like she isn't ready to see me. I'm just gonna take off." He shook his head as he slid his phone in his pocket. "You can stay here." I smiled and notes the empty house. It had pictures of the same four girls.

"I want to thank you, but I need to keep moving. I grabbed my bag and left the house. I wandered down the road and went into a Chase bank. I used my I.D. to find the account that my Aunt set up for me which hand a million dollars inside. That's a lot for a few days I thought and withdrawled my own savings account. I found a car lot and purchased an old black junker. I paid the guy and drove it to Oregon. I found a small town with no werewolves and got a job at a tattoo shop.

In seven months I had a little boy who was twelve pounds and six ounces. I named him Gavin Wright Sterling and I feel in love with his tiny round face, his small toes, and vowed to keep him safe. I mind linked my Mom and Dad for the firdt time since I left. "Hey Grandparents! We are well and I miss you all." My Mom started bawling I could feel her heartbreak. "I wish I was there with you baby girl." My Dad sent rays of hope. "I am so proud of you. You are so strong Paisley." I smiled and looked down at my little boy.

"We are gonna be okay." I snuggled him close and cleaned up my apartment. It was a two bedroom loft above an antique shop. "The owner let me bring Gavin to work and we lived alone, but together. I taught him about his powers at a young age and the importance of keeping it a secret. He asked about his father when he turned ten, and I told him the truth not wanting to hide anything from our son.

It was hard, and I knew he would have feelings about me leaving not only his Dad, but my family. Gavin looked at me and nodded. "You did it for me then?" I nodded and he looked down. "I'm sorry Mom." He said as he threw himself at me. Since then he has focused more and more on his powers and his combat skills.

On his sixteenth birthday my Aunt contacted me. "Jackson is back and looking for you, he said his Dad confessed as he died, but handed power to his eldest brother, and wants to know where you are." I looked over at my strong son. "Are you ready to meet your Dad?" His eyes flashed and he nodded as he dropped the spoon into his soup. "He coming here?" My son's voice boomed, as he continued to eat. "Either that or we finally go home." He looked around and nodded.

"Let's go home I want to meet my family." He stood and went up the stairs. I mind linked Aunt Valor. "We are coming home, my son wants to meet his family. His whole family." She sent back a screech and it made me smile before she sent another message. "What do I tell Jackson?" I got up from the table and grabbed a bag. "Tell him I am coming to him." I cut the message and packed the bag with clothed and a photo album of Gavin.

He had accomplished so much already in his short life. Captain of his football team, High Honor roll and just like me skipped two grades. I called to enroll him in school at Sausalito High and his school here to notify them we where moving.

Gavin came down with three bags. "We coming back here?" I shrugged unsure of how this would go." He huffed and I gave him a hug. "I'm going to keep it in case we need to run back here." He shook his head. "No Mom, no more running, whatever happens we stay in California with our real pack." He looked so grown up. I had a hard time seeing him as almost a grown up. He sent me feelings of determination and strength. "You and me, we got this." He sent me through mind link. I smiled and called a moving truck.

"Mom, can you start paperwork to get us a house on the beach near you? I'll sign when we get there." My Mom laughed. "Honey we already purchased the house next to us six years ago for you already. Come home." The truck came and Gavin loaded it with me as I grew more nervous. "Mom it's going to be okay." I nodded and tucked our surf boards across the top of the sofa.

As we drove Gavin became irritable and twitchy. "Need a run?" He nodded and I pulled over in a rest area. "Keep to the trees." He nodded and we walked to the woods. As we changed I followed my son for as long as I could before his Big Black wolf dissappeared. I walked back and changed. I waited three hours before he returned and dressed. "Sorry I needed to be alone for a minute." I nodded and wrapped my arms around his waist. "I get it." His frame towering above me already.

We walked back to the truck in silenece and I pulled into a drive through ordering ten burgers, two fries, and waters. I carried out and we ate before heading towards Sausalito. "I signed you up for school there and they offered you some other A.P. classes." Gavin looked at me. "Family stuff first, and then I'll look over the classes." I nodded and drove down a familiar street. I pulled the truck into the white house my Dad had purchased for us and walked with Gavin toward the neighboring red house.

"Ready?" I asked looking over at my son. He nodded and beant down to take my hand. We walked to the back door, and I took a deep breath before sliding the door open. My parents ran down the stairs, their both ran and grabbed us. "It's so good to have you back."
