The lonely past of a monster lady

As the goblin lady regained consciousness, she realized that she was tightly bound with an intricate mana rope. Despite her best efforts, the magical bindings proved unyielding, leaving her struggling to break free. However, before she could come up with a plan, Alex and his companions appeared from behind her, quickly noticing her predicament. The monstrous woman attempted to intimidate them, but Alex bravely approached and calmly inquired, "Tell me, why do you attack us?" Regrettably, the goblin lady refused to answer, still struggling against her restraints.

Frustrated, Alex repeated his question, this time more loudly and firmly. "Tell me, why do you want to kill us, even though we haven't done anything to you?" Yet, the goblin lady remained silent. Just as Alex was about to press her further, Maya interjected, explaining that it was the nature of monsters to attack humans without reason. The goblin lady sneered at Maya's words and retorted, "Sure, monsters may attack humans unreasonably, but what about humans destroying our entire village for no reason?" Alex was stunned, blurting out, "What do you mean? There are no monster villages in the human kingdom."

It must be clarified that despite the hero's valiant efforts in setting up a barrier to keep monstrous beings at bay, some still manage to roam freely within the human kingdom. Although there are no reported cases of monstrous enclaves within the kingdom, it is worth noting that their existence cannot be entirely ruled out. No news of their establishment or subsequent destruction has surfaced in any known regions. Nevertheless, the ever-present threat of these supernatural creatures looms over the kingdom like a foreboding shadow, adding to the already fraught atmosphere of uncertainty and danger.

As the Goblin woman spoke, tears welled up in her eyes and spilled down her cheeks. She trembled slightly before speaking in a low voice. "There is a village that once stood here, where you are standing now. It was a lively and bustling place, and we Goblins lived in harmony with humans. My mother was a human, and she loved us as her own. But one day, everything changed. A group of humans with tattoos on their left hands came and began to slaughter my people. The once-peaceful village turned into a warzone, and we were helpless against the human attackers."

Alex listened intently, feeling a sense of unease creeping over him. "But how did you survive?" he asked, his voice shaking slightly.

The Goblin woman continued to cry as she replied, "I owe my survival to my master. He saved me from the carnage and trained me to fight. He taught me everything he knew so that I could seek revenge for my people." Alex was taken aback by her words, and a million questions raced through his mind.

"Who is your master?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

The Goblin woman looked up at him, her eyes shining with sorrow. "My master was a powerful warrior, stronger than any Goblin or human I've ever known. But even he couldn't save us all. When the humans attacked our village, he went to the human village to try and stop them. By the time he realized what had happened, it was too late. Almost everyone in our village had been killed, including my master."

Alex felt a pang of sadness in his heart as he realized the depth of the Goblin woman's loss. "I'm so sorry," he said softly.

The woman nodded, her tears still falling. "After my master died, I came back here to seek revenge. And now, I will stop at nothing until I have avenged my people."

The goblin woman pondered in her mind, wondering why she felt compelled to reveal every detail to the interrogator. Was it because he exuded a sense of authority or simply because she wanted to disclose everything?

Meanwhile, Alex was grateful that he had learned a useful spell for interrogations. However, it still left him unsure about the mysterious corpses that had been haunting him.

Taking a deep breath, Alex asked the goblin lady, "Why did you attack us? We haven't done anything to harm you."

To which the goblin woman responded with a pointed finger towards Linda, "You may not have done anything to me directly, but that woman is one of those who attacked my village."
