A torrential downpour had swept through the night, leaving the air with a distinct scent of ionized ozone by dawn, refreshingly crisp.
Wenjay pulled the SUV out of the garage just as Mingyoo descended the stairs. Rommel intercepted him at the foot of the stairs. Mingyoo patiently picked him up, gently scratching his chin.
Rommel purred in delight, eliciting a faint smile from Mingyoo. A hint of warmth surfaced on his weary face.
He hadn't slept much during the latter half of the night. Although he had lain still, Wenjay knew he hadn't been asleep. It was a strange intuition he had when he was close to Mingyoo, especially when their surroundings were quiet. He could tell whether Mingyoo was awake and whether his superbrain was at work.
There were times when Wenjay wanted to suggest that Mingyoo take a sleeping pill. Staying awake until dawn was torturous.
But he never voiced it out. If Mingyoo chose to endure, he would endure with him.
