Leo Versus The Hitman

Thud.

Thud.

Thud.

Leo held his breath as the sounds of the footsteps kept getting slower. He could feel the man approaching the first cubicle, and he slowly began preparing himself for the worst.

It was said that a battle was lost if the mind is down. Leo was someone who had never experienced conflict before but had little knowledge of it. Right now though, he knew that little knowledge would be needed for him to survive.

Leo knew that he had to survive this, and not just stop there but also take down his hunter.

Ba-dum.

Ba-dum.

His heavy heartbeats kept ringing in his ears, keeping Leo on high alert. It was the only thing keeping him from losing out and making a mistake.

A single moment turned to eternity as the stalker seemed to slow his pace as he got closer. Leo's fists were clenched so tight his knuckles were red, but he didn't make a sound. He just waited in silence; his eyes revealing complete calm and control.

At that moment, Leo could feel the stalker right in front of the cubicle door and his hand on the doorknob.

The tension was clear and just when it felt like everything wrong was about to happen the unexpected happened.

Bang.

"Hahahaha! That chick has it all you hear me! She has it all."

"There are a lot of sexy ladies' here tonight, bro. I can't wait for the time to feast!"

"Hahahahaha!"

"Come on, let's take a leak quickly and get back there before someone steals our girls."

Leo listened to two drunk men chat loudly as they entered the bathroom. He heard the hurried footsteps of his stalker, moving into the next cubicle.

'A chance.' Leo thought as he made his move right after he kept the bottle on the floor.

Clank.

Leo opened the door and casually walked over to a sink. He turned on the two and began washing his hands while his senses began to linger far and wide.

Clank.

Leo noticed the door of the second cubicle opened hastily as if his stalker was afraid he must have run away but when he saw Leo casually washing his hand, he calmed down.

Through the mirror, Leo could see the man's hand move slowly to the back, leading him to suspect the man had a weapon hidden behind him.

This was no normal stalker, this was a hitman. Using the small break, Leo decided to study his opponent.

The man was a six feet tall bald man with sunglasses on which was strange in a nightclub, that was already low on light. He had a gray shirt with a blazing red design and a black leather jacket. He wore black trousers and black boots. It looked like the man came for war and not the party.

'Be it Tyler or Stephan, whoever sent this man must be ruthless.' Leo lampooned in his mind.

Apart from the duo, Leo believed no one else would want him dead. Stephan was self-explanatory, whereas Leo was handling a high profile case involving Tyler.

Yes, he messed up Lance Inc. but Leo strongly believed they wouldn't do a thing to him and even if they wish to do, it won't be so soon after the case.

Outside them, Stephan and Tyler were the only ones he could think of. Considering Stephan Wall's personality, Leo doubted the man was bold enough to make such a move, especially since there was no blood feud between them, merely a clash of harmless interests, albeit Stephan considered them his. Also, Leo didn't believe he had given Stephan enough reasons to take such a drastic step.

Leaving him with only one person in mind.

Tyler.

How else is he meant to understand why a hitman was planted at a crime scene, patiently for him? Right now the only person who would benefit the most from his death was Tyler. Leo didn't know how Tyler figured out he would be here, but that didn't matter; rather, it was quite obvious.

"Just pray you succeed but don't think I'm an easy target like Jimmy." Leo mumbled in his mind while his eyes flashed cruelty but only for an instant.

He casually dried his hand and walked away, acting like nothing was unusual since he didn't wish to alert the hitman.

---

Leo had left the club and traveled quite some distance on foot, but he could still feel the hitman following him.

With no other choice, Leo took a sharp turn right without any prior warning leaving the hitman stunned. Without hesitation, the hitman raced forward and rushed into the alley.

Bam.

His vision turned white for a second as a strong fist smashed into his face as soon as he ran into the alley. He staggered back, but Leo caught him by the shirt and pulled him into the alley, tossing him in like a rag doll.

Bang.

The hitman rolled on the ground and skillfully rose to his feet. He quickly reached for the back of his pants, but he couldn't feel anything.

"Looking for this?" Leo revealed the gun in his hands with an indifferent look on his face as he removed the cartridge and let the bullets fall to the ground.

"I'm sorry to disappoint you but no one is getting shot today." Leo's eyes were that of contempt as he waited for the hitman to make his move. He didn't want to use a gun because Leo was not proficient at one, and he couldn't risk killing the man.

Now the gun has been emptied, and the hitman had no reason to fear Leo anymore.

Bam.

The man charged forward fiercely, but Leo was already prepared. He raised his hand and stepped forward.

Bam.

Swoosh.

The hitman was a distance away from Leo yet halted his advance and threw a devilish right kick forward.

Swoosh.

His leg was like a blade cutting through the wind and Leo barely stepped away to dodge.

Pfft.

He felt the tip of the enemy's boot brush against his nostrils, but that was enough to cut him open causing some blood to squirt out.

Shit!

Leo staggered back, and the man chose to drive forward at this moment. He closed in so fast while moving in a zigzag motion, Leo began wondering why he didn't just shoot the man.

Leo wanted to experience a fight and see how strong he was with his current stats. He knew it was a risky move and hoped to be able to use charm on the man should things go wrong but for some reason, he felt like charm won't work on this man.

Swoosh.

The hitman threw a fast right hook, flying straight at Leo at a terrifying speed causing Leo to instinctively lean to the left, barely dodging the strike.

Thud.

Thud.

Sounds of Leo's disorderly footsteps could be heard as he tried to retreat and fell, leaving him open for a follow-up attack.

Bang.

Leo felt a strong right fist smash into his face. His body jerked back, and he hit the ground badly, causing his vision to blur.

Shit.

Leo realized that he was way over his head when he decided to fight this man.

Did he really expect to become an expert kickboxer because of the system?

Ding!

[The system is designed to present the host with everything needed for him to fit to be called a demon lord candidate. Or do you think the demon lord fights using the same method as mere mortals?]

[Let go, stop fighting it, and let your instincts take over...]
