Chapter 32

"It wasn't easy". Plutonic whispered but she heard him perfectly fine.

They were on the flat rooftop of the mansion. Ninah had come up there for fresh air with no knowledge that Plutonic would be there.

She stopped on her tracks and looked at Plutonic whose back was facing her. Wondering what he was talking about until it dawned on her that Lucky could have told him about her true identity.

"I'm sorry". She whispered, a tear streaming down her face.

"It wasn't your fault". He whispered back.

She took in a slow deep breathe. Things were turning out pretty good for her. Things were turning out to be in her favor and that was a good sign. He wasn't angry with her and perhaps, things would go back to the way they were before her death took place.

Plutonic slowly turned to face her. Her breathe hitched up in her throat as he laid his eyes on her.

The first thing that flashed in his mind was that fateful night with her fatally injured in his arms in the verge of death.

That was a bitter memory that he'd fought with for many years with failure. He never forgot it and it was always fresh in his mind. A constant reminder that he had failed to protect his pack... he had failed to protect his wife, his mate... A painful memory that he was pretty sure that he'd never forget in his entire lifetime.

Ninah looked away, Plutonic looked more handsome and masculine than the last time she had seen him. Did that mean that she had not been capable of taking good care of him when she was still alive?. Because now, he looked pretty good and she felt a little jealous because of that.

Why hadn't he moved on despite her telling him to do so on that last night before she had taken her final breathe?.

The woman standing in front of him looked so different from the one he once fell in love with and married but hadn't Lucky told him that she was using someone else's body and identity?. However, that did not matter. What mattered most was that her soul was the same and he had fallen in love with her soul and not her body.

Nonetheless, she still looked beautiful in this new body of hers. He didn't mind at all as long as this new body held the soul of the woman he loved.

Standing right in front of him, Plutonic couldn't help but feel his heart swell with emotions, he had fallen in love with her all over again.

Now, what bugged his mind was, did she still love him?. Why had she come back?... not that he wasn't happy with her return, actually, he was more than happy but he needed to know, he needed his questions answered... Above all, he wanted to know who brought her back to life and why?.

That would be known later as for now... He took a step forward and engulfed her in an embrace taking her by surprise.

She took in a deep breathe, taking his scent in, in the process thus making a small purring sound in her chest indicating her contentment and happiness. Plutonic pulled back and looked down at her, she looked away, from the embarrassment that she felt. That had never happened before.

He surprised her by laughing. She looked up at him not expecting his reaction to be such.

"That was a purr?. I forgot I can also do that. Hopefully, when we spend more time together I can also do that". Plutonic said.

She smiled.

"So, what do they call you?". He asked.

"Akaya but... " She trailed off.

"Don't worry I'll call you by your original name when it's just us. Ninah". He replied. "No one else should know that you're back. I hope you understand, kindly stay away from them".

She nodded slightly and looked at him, his fingers brushing a little against her cheek. Her skin wasn't that cold anymore thanks to Lucky's blood and that was a relief because she wasn't ready to answer any questions concerning this body that Roma and Mirida gave her to use. Perhaps later but not now.

Listening intently to what he was saying, she had missed how her name sounded in his mouth and now, now it sounded like heaven to her. She closed her eyes trying to savor the moment at hand.

With her eyes shut, he saw this as a chance, he leaned forward with the intentions of kissing her. The moment was precious and it needed this. Just one kiss, he wouldn't mind and he hoped that Ninah wouldn't mind it as well.

He brushed his lips against hers, as if asking for permission to proceed with what he had started. His hand was on her waist, pulling her closer to him. He felt her body tense with the sudden move he had done and internally he prayed that she wouldn't push him away.

"I hate to break the love atmosphere but there's a bedroom downstairs so y'know...". Lucky said interrupting them and making them to break apart and look at him.

Plutonic groaned with annoyance while Ninah gave a slight chuckle.

"H-How are you?". Ninah asked.

Lucky walked closer to them, "I'm fine". He answered as he turned to face Plutonic "Father we need to talk".

Plutonic looked at him, "Is it that serious?".

Lucky nodded.

Having sensed the tension building up and feeling Lucky's eyes on her, she cleared her throat and tried to excuse herself so as to leave them to talk in private but Plutonic stopped her by holding her hand.

"You're part of the pack too and my wife, whatever our son has to say then let him say it in front of both of us". Plutonic said. Lucky internally groaned. Why was his father going all soft with this woman?. It didn't matter whether she was his mother or not, he had already been used to living without a mother and he could perfectly live without one now. Aisha was trying to act as one but no, she wasn't his mother and could never be.

"No, if it's serious as he says I guess it matters concerning the Chief thing so I'll just leave you two to discuss your thing". Ninah tried again but Plutonic's grip on her hand didn't loosen.

Lucky huffed a breathe, "As you wish Father".

"Speak up then". Plutonic remarked. That remark... that attitude.. Plutonic had never used such an attitude towards him before but now?. What had changed?.. Oh, yeah right his mother was back, his Father's mate and right now he didn't mean as important as he used to mean before when she wasn't around.

Things weren't going to be the same between him and his father anymore. He could feel it.

"I was here to inform about the NightWing clan". Lucky replied.

Ninah's body tensed and Lucky noticed it.

"What about them?. Are they fighting amongst themselves for the Chief seat or what?". Plutonic asked with a snort.

"Actually it's far more worse than that. Carl, Chief Shane Wang's son the supposed heir to the Chief seat was found dead alongside other members of the clan". Lucky explained.

"So? That doesn't concern us Lucky". Plutonic replied.

"It wasn't a normal death Father. Carl was found frozen and whoever touched him froze as well. They can't move him or anyone else who was frozen in place with him, it's a danger to them. They have no chief so the court members are fighting amongst themselves. I suggest that we help them, in return we take them in as our allies for this is a perfect chance to do so and strengthen our pack".

Plutonic huffed, "We shall do no such thing Lucky. Go back to your room".

His father had said no to his proposal, something he'd never done before.

He slowly nodded in accordance and left them. Like bee stings, he felt the pain inch deeper in his chest, a bitter reminder that he had a heart and feelings as well in case he had forgotten.

He slowly walked out of the mansion. The woman in his Father's arms was the one responsible for Chief Shane Wang and Carl's death and yet his father would never believe him even when he told him about it.

She was a shape shifter and relied on blood to survive, only the heavens knew what the woman could do to their pack once she became hungry. Wouldn't she feed on the nearest person in the clan?.

His father was not the same anymore. He had changed drastically and for a moment, he blamed it on himself, why had he gone ahead and told him about the woman's real identity?. He wished he'd never spoken up and perhaps things wouldn't have turned out this way.

He slowly walked away into the woods. Into the darkness of the night. It was what he needed to clear out his mind. If things were going to turn out the way he was seeing them going, then it was high time he started making his allowance into good use.

First, he needed his own private condo away from everyone else. Far away that no one would know leave alone the one his father bought him. He needed his own den.
