Today is my anniversary, it has now been four years since I have been with Alex. I can still remember how we got together and I regret it. I was the new girl in town and it was also my first day at college, the major I took was in child care. I was looking around and couldn't find my class and I wasn't paying attention and I bumped into someone. *CRASH!* I look up as I'm rubbing my butt to see a cute guy which was Alex. I wish at that moment I had said watch where you're going and never saw him again, but my dumb self instead took him out to eat to say sorry and then gave him my number. After that, we had gotten to know each other a lot and ended up going out. Later on, we moved in with each other and I ended up dropping out because he said that we can't afford the tuition and regular living expenses at the same time.
I snap back to the present when I finally reach my house and my phone starts to ring. I don't recognize the caller ID but I still pick up. "Hello," I say. "Hey girl I got a new phone and I just got out of jail so I'm looking to party!" "Oh hey Alyssa, I just got home and I wanna sleep." "Oh come on girl it's gonna be me and the gang." "You know the gang hates me after what happened." "Oh come on I'll tell them to be nice." I rummage through my bag and find my house keys, open the door and just stand there, my mouth wide open and I'm shocked, I had dropped my phone on the ground cracking my screen just a little. What I saw was my boyfriend sleeping in our bed with another woman, I right away grab some money, clothes, and my old duffle bag that I thought I would never have to touch again.
I pick up my cracked phone and said "I'm in" and hung up the phone. I run to the old abandoned hospital, that's my old territory. I head into my old room and change. I put on my black clothes, ripped jeans, crop top, high heels, and leather jacket. I open the little pouch in the duffle bag inside there is a little golden key. I move my chair to the side revealing a box with a lock built into the floor. I put the key in and turn it three times the box opens up, and I pull out a trash bag with my pistol, Knife, and mask inside.
I put the chair back and head out. I'm a little hesitant about going because I'm worried about what the gang will say but I need to do this. I go to the garage where they used to keep the ambulances, but now my bike is the only thing there. It's blood-red with black roses all across the sides. I take out my key necklace and put it in the ignition hearing it roaring back to life brings back some good and bad memories. I hop on and go to the tavern.
The tavern used to be the place the gang and I would go after we won a turf battle or beat someone up for mistreating one of us. By the time I get there, I can see the other girl's bikes outside. I sigh and head inside to face them. I can see dust everywhere and I can tell no one has been here in a long time. I see Hilda she is the bartender and owner of the Rose tavern, she is also the founder of the gang black roses. "Hey Hilda, been a long time." She looks over at me with her usual scowl then it turns into her sweet smile. "Yes, it has been a long time, too long in fact."
She gives me her big mamma bear hug and it's a warm embrace, I can remember when I met her. Back then she had short-cut brown hair and always scowled with her amber-colored eyes. I had gotten into a fight in her bar and she hit me over the head with a liquor bottle it hurt but when I woke up she asked if I was ok. I swung at her and got a clean hit to her jaw, she simply smiled and said "Ok I think I deserve that one for hitting you with the bottle."
I went back to her bar a few more times with my friends and she introduced herself and made us a part of her gang, but she had grown tired of being the leader so she passed it on to me, but then IT happened and Alyssa went to jail and I turned my back on the gang stepping down when they needed me most. I snap back into reality to see Alyssa waving me over to the stage. When she saw me she looked surprised. "Wow, I thought I would never see you wearing that again." "Ya I know but something happened and I..." my voice trailed off.
"Oh ya I did hear a thud when I called you, you had said no to coming then a few minutes later you just said I'm in and then hung up." "Ya I know, sorry." "What happened?" I think to myself wondering what I'm going to tell her. I fought with my brother, I changed my mind and wanted to rejoin the gang, or do I just tell her the truth? No, if I tell her the truth then who knows what will happen?
"I, it doesn't matter as long as you're here." I smile and I can see the other girls behind her glaring at me. I can see yellow, red, blue, white, and pink. Those are the code names, they were named after their favorite color rose. Alyssa is green and I was black. Saffron is yellow, Iris is blue, Ruby is red, Akari is white, and Rosa is pink. I can see Akari giving me her sweet smile like always. "Hey girls," I say nervously as I squeeze my arm behind my back. "What are you doing here?" Saffron says in a smug tone. "I invited her here to celebrate my release." Alyssa chimes in.
"Well, no one wants her here, not after you left us," Ruby says. "In my defense, I didn't expect any of that to happen that night and I was pretty shaken up about it so, of course, I wanted to be alone." "Hey now let's not dwell on past events, let's just down these bottles and have a good time," Hilda said trying to lighten the mood. The night felt long but surprisingly I had a good time. "H…hey green can you take me home," I say as I'm drunk and leaning on her. "Girl I can't I'm wasted, just call up your hot brother," Alyssa said putting her arm around me.
